Yes. My point point it when there is a choice between your cities being nuked and taking action based on a piece of paper, the outcome is not certain. All countries break contracts and attempt to find loopholes around them all the time. A decision which means the end of NATO may be deemed the lesser of two evils by this or a future US administration.
Will keep an eye on that story if it's true. The translator seemed to be struggling so not sure what to take from it.
It's highly likely true ,
putin knows they won't be protected why wouldn't he threatened them
If that threat is real both Finland and Sweden need to apply to get into NATO and get into NATO fast.
Exactly ,
Finland already had a problem with Russia a few years ago , when hundreds of armed Russian were let into Finland without permission from Finland ,
The finns were told it was a hunting party
Big rebound from the European markets today. Maybe happy with the sanctions announced and that the SWIFT payments system hasn't been targeted yet.
The United response will come in insurgency.
They are obliged under law to engage in armed civil resistance.
They have being preparing for this since last summer.
Of course arming civilians and organising militia does have it's potential pit falls.
Then again I just watched a Russian tank for no reason whatsoever roll over an old fella in a Honda.
Needs must.
"Russian armoured vehicles have opened up a new route towards the capital, having been unsuccessful in capturing Chernihiv, a city in the north." BBC
Just looking at the supposed Russians killed figure in the last 24 hour's if they have lost 1000 men in Ukraine , they have lost half of what America Lost in 20 years in Afghanistan..
Go on home Russian soldiers, go on home
Have you got no 4uck1ng homes of your own
For 800 years we've fought you without fear
And we'll fight you for 800 more
If they can not take the cities while they stand, they'll change tactic and take them after razing them to the ground. It is early days yet.
They already have an open invitation to join and considering they were invited to the article 4 meeting they pretty much have one foot in already, I doubt they will hesitate to complete the process after such direct unprovoked threats.
That is not the choice.
Can't even begin to imagine the nature of the war crimes once these merry band of gurriers cross the border
Anyone interested in the type of cyber fire-power the US possess check out a recent discovery the Chinese made, believed to be a weapon grade backdoor designed by the NSA
When Putin makes a big show of being a Christian that is propaganda and not just aimed at Russian Orthodox but also at Western Christians dissatisfied with political liberalism and atheist-run societies. Orban is at the same game in Hungary. Its a ruse.
Some alt-right people have taken pro-Russia and pro-China stances because, I guess, they're hoping that Russian/Chinese victories over Westerners will lead to ideological humiliation of the mad-dysfunctional PC/woke/liberal order.
That's not much use if you're being bayoneted to death by a Russian soldier in your own home.
The Russian tank over Honda was a Ukrainian mobile SAM which in full video looks to have skidded across 2 lanes on top of the poor man.
Thankfully he was OK - video of about 15 people rescuing him after.
Said boyos in the armored SAM were later shot and killed by civilian militia - they were the ones reported as russian saboteurs in Ukrainian uniforms.
Please don't commit terrorist attacks in my country. If you're that wound up could you not find transport to Ukraine and join the fighting? Ireland isn't a battleground, and what are your ties to the Ukraine anyway or are you just a media news junkie?
You'd hope they agree a ceasefire before the chechens arrive
Similar rebound in Russian markets too though, could easily just be the dead cat bounce
You might have missed that the US have dwindling allies in this world, and those relationships have gotten shakier in the last 30 years.
Strictly speaking they didn't need to land anyone in Europe in the 1940s either, they could have just flattened the Japanese and left Hitler to make his moves in Europe. But they recognised, for many reasons historic and economic, that a free Europe allied with the US was preferable to a hostile Europe run by the Nazis.
That fact hasn't changed at all, you can just replace "Nazis" with "Russians". Russia doesn't have the capabilities to take over Europe, and the US abandoning NATO would guarantee a drastic change in US-EU relations for decades to come.
One irritating thing I'm seeing online is people saying the "stand with Ukraine". It's such self-indulgent narcisstic BS.
Either go to Ukraine, pick an AK-47 and literally stand with them. Or stop with the virtue signalling nonsense. It's not about you.
Gotta love this reply to the Sweden/Finland threat

Germany should be fu78ing ashamed of itself.
Putin's Kapo in the EU.
I wonder is Putin planning to take over the whole Ukraine first to create a buffer, then declare a ceasefire and start negotiations. He will then have a claim to be moderate by ceding the Western portion of Ukraine but keeping the puppet Eastern regions in his sphere of influence.
How is it? This is some bullshit that people latched onto and now keep repeating. It was originally about politicians responding to gun crimes and not doing anything about it. A regular citizen of this planet we share showing solidarity is to be encouraged. It's one incredibly small gesture but better than nothing. It's our way of not being passive actors and standing with those who are just victims of chance.
If your house was burning down and you were running around with buckets of water would you be happy if I stood there saying "I stand with you"?
Putin wants his troops to be allowed walk into Kyiv in return for his fake peace talks in Minsk.
That's not a trap at all.
