Orban 5 weeks away from an election. I hope this is used heavily against him and people of Budapest remember the Budapest in "58 is Keiv tonight.
Shirley Putin from here on out can no longer set foot outside Russia? He can't just show up to the next G20, and wine and dine with Boris, Macron and Co ?? He will surely be arrested on the spot if the chance presents itselfs, and charged with all these war crimes?
it was only thing that got russians out of afghanistan and it wouldnt take 20 years the russians have already started to protest the war 1700 arrested yesterday and only start
whats ukraine other choice 1000 years of servitude ..
Probably, it's become abundantly clear they have been testing Western tolerances for a and Putin is now emboldened. Think of the fly bys over UK airspace in past couple of years and the war excerises of our coast a few weeks back.
Maybe if he wants Ukraine to turn less to the West, he should work on making Russia less of a sh*thole country so that Ukraine would view Russia as a more attractive economic, defensive and cultural partner.
It's incel thinking played out on a grand stage. "You don't like me, so I will now become violent"
Because we don't want to go to war with Russia ourselves. We'd only be a pawn in any geopolitical conflict.
Larger countries with big militaries are not getting swept away by emotion and cutting off diplomatic ties with Russia so why would we?
Posters who feel emotional about the invasion should not try to turn Ireland itself into a vehicle for their own political agenda. Ukraine is a far away country on the other side of Europe which borders Russia.
What war crimes in particular?
Before 2014 Ukraine was a puppet state of Putin and Russia similar to what Belarus and few others in western Asia are now. Almost immediately after the Ukrainian people overthrew the Putin backed government of Ukraine Putin bit by bit started moving into the country first supporting Russians sympatisers in the east of the country then annexing Crimea.
What Putin wants is Ukraine to return to pre 2014 days. He only understands force and violence though.
I've said it before. There is definitely a religious aspect to this.
A guerrilla resistance is very likely however much it bothers you and it could be a while. I don't think people realise just how much hatred there is for Russia the state, in that part of the world. They will absolutely not be able to hold it with 100,000 troops and will need many multiples of that.
Oh FFS give it a rest.
I smell something!
Shít we have been infiltrated.
Burn the thread!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes there are so many, Which ones to list
Lets just say all of them eh !
Unfortunately we are not able to pay your bonus in full, due to issues with SWIFT payments.
Jan 2020. “Covid is far away in Asia , people should not get worried about it, those who are are being hysterical”. I remember clearly how obnoxious and aggressive people on boards were with those of us who wanted to even discuss the potential impact of covid.
The best anybody can say right now is it’s unclear what ambitions are in Putins mind. The Americans have clearly said his ambitions don’t stop at Ukraine, so what does that mean? Just the Baltic states and he will be satisfied? Or is it just he’s gonna go further but we don’t know exactly how far?
Im not suggesting ireland does anything specifically , but just making sure your comment on “Ukraine being far away” are not an effort to downplay the significance of what’s happened and how it may affect us.
The embassy would do and would have greater effect.
If they aren't as hated, why are Ukranians fighting and dying to repel the utter scum invading their homeland?
Yes, they hate you.
Quite possibly ,
If that's the case Ukraine should attack Poland and draw nato countries in
Attacks on a kindergarten and an orphanage. How about that tank just running over a car with an OAP (who thankfully survived and had to be cut out) trying to get out of Kiev.
Or whatever happens when these lads arrive
It's the cheapest presumably. The companies need direction from the government, and the Irish government (politicians) generally do not think strategically or plan for risks.
Maybe the permanent govt. is a bit better but something like ruling out Huawei for such core infrastructure is a completely political decision (so they need to lead on it).
edit: suppose I should not single out Ireland/Irish politicans here, presume it is similar in very many places esp. as regards business with China & their companies or indeed with Russia (!)
They may see doing this without a pressing reason as poking the Chinese govt. in the eye (they now hit back quite hard any time what they see as a small vassal/tributary country does that to them) and affecting business with China which I think (?) is growing all the time. It's all about business and the short term gain. They probably won't do something like that unless it comes down from EU level.
I can see it all biting Ireland on the arse later on. Sorry - probably should not have posted thoughts & a response as very off topic here.
I think there's a very powerful argument now for Baltic countries and Poland etc., to limit immigration from Russia.
I'd imagine it's mixed over such a large country. Many in the east and south east are Russian or Russian extraction, primarily speak Russian etc... They are likely in support of Putin to some degree. Further west you go it changes.
Smart thing to do is not eliminate Huawei from the start, but put it out to tender again (change the specs if you have to) and simply not choose Huawei as the provider.
Live free or die!
It's a bit late for that in the Baltics. They have large numbers of Russians there who were planted there after the soviets invaded. Not just a few either - Latvia for example has a population of Russians making up 25% of the population.
looks like some appetite amongst ukranians for now ... vlad will have to send in more troops .. probably not the optics he was looking for ..
only 67 russian soldiers lost in georgian adventure
approx. 3,600 russian troops 1999-2008 in second chechen war - official figures - unofficial figures massively higher + 5,700 russian estimate for first chechen war
Uk estiamted 450 russian loses yesterday alone .. how accurate that is debatable but intel in ukraine has been good so far
Israelis don't do Irony
#notanormalcountry
The biggest question of all here is will NATO act together if article 5 is triggered - just look at the US under Trump... you would wonder where this is going.
Would America enter a full scale war against Russia to defend Estonia? Frighteningly I'm not 100% sure anymore.
