Osce meeting earlier, the gaul of them to turn up and discuss the genocide been carried out by ukraine
Soviet military doctrine employed the use of small yield tactical battlefield nukes as a matter of course in any conflict with NATO, long before the west would be at the point of using tactical or strategic nuclear weapons. Their view was that they are just another tool in the box.
Hopefully this view has changed....
Yep that's pretty much it, there is nothing to stop Russia.
Geopolitics is in play all over the world, Russia knows this and it helps them immensely. Hearing of the Belgians and Italians trying to carve out exemptions for things like their diamond markets is awful.
From the Guardian:
India is exploring ways to set up a rupee payment mechanism for trade with Russia to soften the blow on New Delhi of Western sanctions imposed on Russia.
Reuters reports that government and banking sources said Indian officials aere concerned that vital supplies of fertilizer from Russia could be disrupted as sanctions intensify, threatening India’s vast farm sector.
India has called for an end to violence in Ukraine but refrained from outright condemnation of Russia, with which it has long-standing political and security ties.
So? Ukraine will say that about any action not taken by the outside world in support of their fight.
NATO or UN will not step in because if NATO intervene they run the risk of an unprecedented war between nuclear powers, which everybody loses.
And UN cannot intervene because Russia have a veto at the UNSC.
NATO or UN do not care about number of deaths.
Hardly surprising Germany voted against blocking Russia from Swift. The EU are not interested in the Ukraine and are fucked without the energy supplies from Russia.
More interested in getting PSG the CL trophy than saving Ukraine.
Unfortunately for Ukraine they really had no chance at stopping this. NATO and the west were never going to get involved in this, and risk a much wider conflict which could bring a risk of nuclear weapons being used.
Now if Russia does start building up troops near any NATO country then you can bet your bottom dollar that NATO will bring in massive reinforcements in that scenario.
I really cant see Putin ever trying anything on a NATO country, but even if he did, the attacking forces will be repelled easily and that would be the end of it, Russia would have to retreat.
It is very tragic for Ukraine but Putin knew he was going to have a free run at Ukraine beforehand bar a few sanctions, he will get his puppet government in and this will all probably die down in the months ahead.
More need to die before NATO or UN can step in. Everyone knows that. They're the parameters of this conflict.
Several Eastern EU countries and Finland are dependent on Russia for nuclear power technical support as they use Rosatom VVER reactors btw.
Turkey also has one under construction and Hungary has two in planning stages.
And the point of that?
People are watching too many movies. Nuclear weapons are a deterrent to strike on another nuclear power, there is no winners.
Maybe Europe needs to think about proper energy alternatives to fossil fuels, that work, such as Nuclear.
This is not a fair judgment. Thousands of people take to the streets in various cities to protest, the police grab people and take them to the police station in a matter of minutes. The law provides for fines of up to 1,800 euros and 30 days in prison for participating in unauthorized protests. With an average salary of 300 euros, mortgage obligations, a high probability of losing one's job, and the need to feed one's children, the amount that goes into the streets does not seem so small.
Here’s hoping the protesters is Moscow, St Petersburg and other cities hold their nerve too.
I truly believe that the only way that this all stops is from within the Kremlin.
This is why I never want that country to ever have a proper standing army again.
It feels like their minds are a bit focused on us. This is to include the military drills close by a few weeks ago.
Small country with a big voice.
Is that the old sig pre site upgrade? What was it, something about "Trump, Farage, Le Pen and Bannon the magnificent ones?" Apologies if paraphrasing! The Russia/Putin appeasement fits perfectly with that.
The protests and pressure on politicians will take off over the next 72 hours.
Every single major news desk has a team in Kyiv.
The absolute horror will be broadcast in HD.
They could incinerate every square metre of western Europe in a couple of hours.
My friend just commented "in my school they did!" 😂 She went to a Gaelscoil.
One thing this has ensured is that no country will ever give up their nuclear weapons
It sure is. I remember when I was young watching sky news reporting live on the night Iraq invaded Kuwait. They were showing oil fields on fire far far away from the camera’s location.
The footage now of Ukraine is another level. You get a real feel for how scared normal civilians are, how army’s attack each other in the air and on the ground and it’s like you’re there.
😞
Action taken on SWIFT might be counterproductive from a Western POV in the long run, by hastening the development of alternative platforms and arrangements.
I'm not drinking the WW3 kool aid however people are going on about NATO as some sort of iron clad covenant. It's just another agreement among nations.
i doubt you are right, they wont try to control the whole of the country, the will settle for an east/south west divide were the west is free to do as they please and east/south is under the yolk of the new iron curtain
If they invade Poland we are already at world war 3. If that happens NATO will react with force.
Have you swallowed the Gay, Nazi Jew line that comrade Putin has stuffed down your throat you fool?
I don't give a **** about the US because with is happening in the Ukraine has nothing to do with them. It is Russia invading a democracy and the US and NATE have been saying for months that it is not their fight you dimwit.
