Live speech you’ll have to roll it back. I’ll see if I can do a screen grab.
Yes I am, and since day one I have been calling out trolls seeking to deflect discussion from Russia and the actions of a vile dictator with whataboutery aimed at the US EU UN NATO. This a war launched by a dictator aimed at a Democracy, it is not a fantasy NATO bashing sideshow.
Bring in pro-Russian leaders and split Ukraine into two parts, like East and West Germany
I can see that happening. Amazing to think Putin was there when the Berlin wall came down, and the USSR with it. Perhaps, as others have sugegsted, he is stuck in that moment to some extent, and has a sentimental attachment to walls as a result.
Thats Hillarious, did they forget about their own country
When are they going to do something about the oppressed russian people
Nope, that's a direct conflict with 30 NATO members and no supply line. Russia would lose that confrontation comprehensively and very quickly.
Some official comments coming in from Kremlin. They say they are not planning on occupying the country but do not recognise Ukrainian government as democratic.
Sounds like regime change to pro russia is the goal if we are to believe them.
I know what you are saying. But let's be honest if things continue like this NATO are going to have to get more directly involved. These economic sanctions will take time to have any effect.
Meanwhile how many Ukrainian people will be killed....
The Russians will never take on NATO. Back in the late 90's early noughties Ukraine and some other former USSR states diddered. They saw a weak Russia and never taught it would never be a threat again. The Baltic States were more wary. They were afraid that at some stage Russia would want there ports so they joined the EU and NATO to give themselves protection.
While in theory the Russian tank army is the biggest in the world it is mostly made up of obsolete cold war materials. In reality they have less than 2k tanks that are relatively modern. Even these are ancient in the context of the tanks in operation right accross NATO. There would be nearly 2K of these mostly German Leopard tanks. Most Russian tanks are updated designs of Cold war tanks. NATO tanks in Europe even with out US involvement would wipe them out
He probably knows it’s ridiculous and is just trolling the world basically.
The North Korean economy has been decaying in absolute isolation for nearly 80 years, while Kim Jong-un and his entourage live in luxury. It is much more difficult to isolate the Russian economy than the North Korean one, but even under the conditions of partial isolation it will not collapse so quickly, and Putin is already 69 years old and knows that the sanctions will hardly affect his personal comfort for the rest of his life.
He'll go to Poland. Wait and see. The world will stand back and watch too. Nato and the UN won't do **** all because they are windbags. And the Germans? Well they are a disgrace for not wanting them out of swift.
Allow me to translate:
It's not democratic by Russian standards in that people can vote for who they want and voted for someone we don't approve of and not the politburo appointed candidate while all other candidates are jailed.
Yep..below from guardian live blog.
There are several lines from the Kremlin coming in on Reuters:
Putin will meet the UN Security Council today and hold several international phone calls
Russia will impose retaliatory sanctions on western countries
Russia recognises Volodymyr Zelenskiy as president of Ukraine
Sanctions will cause problems but are solvable since the country has reduced its dependence on foreign imports
Russia expects relations with the west to normalise once people understand it was forced to act to protect its security
No comment on the duration of the military operations.
Aim has been all along to turn Ukraine into another vassal state like Belarus imo.
Reports that Lavrov took to many pills this morning. Sorry those reports are false this is the way the think all the time.
He actuality repeated the comment again just before the question from Chinese television and the second time went on about neonazism etc after it. It’s at approximately 10:24gmt if anyone is looking for it.
Russia claiming they will increase trade with Asia. 50% of their trade is currently with Europe. China, Kazakhstan, South Korea, and Japan are their biggest markets and two of those are probably out now, so it really means China.
Poland are full members of NATO...that makes a big different imo
Re: Swift... Money talks. Not to derail, but sure look at China threatening Taiwan almost daily and barely a squeak out of the West. They flew more fighters over the island yesterday.
Like Russia, China has infiltrated and compromised the West's business and political establishment. In the U.S. case, Russia has openly infected the right (looking at you GOP and hangers on) and China has openly infected the left (looking at you Dems and hangers on).
Re: Poland.. that would be WWIII.
.
Its suicide to step a foot in NATO territory, he won't. NATO doesn't care about Ukraine and certainly won't risk going to war with Russia over it, Putin knows it.
I was being hyperbolic, my point was that any further escalation from Russia wouldn't be stopped by cutting them out of swift
It's different on paper for sure.
At the moment we are looking at a sovereign nation on the European continent being invaded. Something akin to WW2.
I'm not sure that treaty's or agreements would mean anything if NATO nations wanted to avoid WW3.
Here is Ukraine's answer to you.
Ukraine's foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba last night said those who had opposed Russia being blocked from Swift would have "the blood of innocent Ukrainian men, women and children on their hands".
Lavrov said they will not negotiate with regimes that carry out genocide on their own people.
Sure Bashar al -Assad is the middle east Dalai lama
It's fake, from a video game apparently made as a tribute to the Ukrainian pilot ace that's being talked about.
China didnt fly fighters over Taiwan island, they flew in Taiwanese airspace, which strangely extends into mainland china also.
Money talks I agree, and thats all it is. EU is dependent on Russia for oil, gas and other important resources. Thats why they wont cut off all trade or go too hard on sanctions with them. Russia is largely self sufficient in food, oil, etc, something they worked on following sanctions in 2014.
The EU are not self sufficient, and dont want to risk losing access to Russian gas.
In the mid 1970 up to perhaps 1982/83 the combined Soviet Union and Warsaw pact countries were judged to have the ability to fight through Europe into France before they could be stopped.
Since then all of the former Warsaw pact countries and several soviet states are in NATO. Only Russia and Belarusian Armies remain available to Russia. NATO militaries have advance 40 years in the meantime. 90% of the Russian military has not. The remaining 10% is "modern" and completely untested.
The Russian would would get about 2km into Poland before the Polish Czech Slovak Hungarian armies would destroy them without any ground assistance from other NATO countries.
Germany vetoed the Russians removal from Swift. So in my view they are now approving of Putins actions. As I have said cut from the same cloth.
India is exploring ways to set up a rupee payment mechanism for trade with Russia, for fertiliser! They are also choosing not to condemn the invasion.
