NATO
For those in the know, does it look like the Ukraine army is folding very quickly?
I see they offered all citizens guns which seems like a desperate last measure.
Or am I misunderstanding it?
I can assure you school is a long distant memory for me.
There was nothing 'smart arse' about my comment either
A serious step from our government would be to get the embassy staff to leave.
Armed with 20 JASSM ER or nuclear tipped cruisemissiles
No wonder they call them arsenal planes
Easier when embedded to view...
True, and come back when you leave Ukraine tell em
Just realised that google street view actually goes into Pripyat and other parts of the Chernobyl exclusion zone
Any invasion would be similarly preceded by massive troop movements as Ukraine. Right no there is absolute zero indication for that.
No they are definitely doing damage but Russia is deploying Forces all over ukraine by road and Air ,I heard naval fire was hitting Odessa from the black sea
It's actually 9. I've one here up on the ramp in the garage. NCT on Monday...
Have you never watched Goldeneye?
You think the recent Russian navy activies off our coast were coincidental?, I wouldnt be so sure.
The first sentence is you making your first baby steps towards admitting how atrociously wrong you got things for the past couple of weeks and processing the moral cover you and people like you gave to Putin.
Everything else is you retreating to a bargaining position and scrambling for cover.
Same as some of the other Putin apologists in the thread, you've plowed a perverse furrow where apparently we live in a completely valueless world where everything is up for grabs, and the paranoid reckless delusions of an autocrat need to be understood and coddled as if the world at large is a therapist for his psychotic behaviour.
Why you've bothered with all this is a complete mystery. Putin and his circle of mobsters alone have generated this senseless disaster and its really, really f*cking weird that people like you defend it.
It's hard to know. The Russians have been saying since the first hour that Ukrainians were surrendering but that was nonsense. There seems to be some progress for Russia but apparently Ukraine have had some success as well. Both will be trying to stem and control information to suit themselves.
I was going to ask ,not a big Twitter user
Yes - offering alliance membership is a guarantee to fight for that member. The existing alliance members are well within their rights to decide that the new member brings far too much baggage and its not in the national interests of a Spanish person - for example - to fight and die on the borders between Ukraine and Russia. Any member of NATO could have stated they would veto Ukraine's membership as a matter of national interest and that would be that.
There is absolutely no obligation on NATO to accept membership applications. That is an entirely invented narrative.
"There is absolutely no obligation on NATO to accept membership applications. That is an entirely invented narrative."
Yeah, by you, just now.
All former soviet union states that have a past with Kremlin would love a NATO membership for a reason.
The reason is called Putin
Bond movie is it? No never watched that olde shite.
Thank goodness for diplomacy, all the dead Ukranians send you their thanks, without the diplomatic efforts by Biden, the EU, Macron, et al, just think what might have happened instead?
There is a war. Diplomacy doesn't stop wars, nor does it prevent them.
Fuckin Hell .. Thats terrifying.
Is there anything we can do at all in a private capacity, besides empty gestures on social media ?
You view it as 'moral cover' for Putin. I view it as a realistic assessment. Invading Ukraine is not in Russia's interests (and that hasn't changed). Ukraine is going to lose a military conflict with Russia. NATO and the EU are not going to fight for Ukraine. The best solution was NATO ruling out Ukrainian membership (nothing lost), and Ukraine reconciling with Russia through the Minsk agreements or similar.
You view that as morally reprehensible. But we're now seeing where your favoured policy of absolute opposition to Russia has led - likely a total defeat for Ukraine, with far worse terms than Minsk at the end of it. And of course completely avoidable deaths.
What's the significance of this???
That two plus four agreement, where the germans have limitations on their military. We might want to tear that one up, seeing as treaties are already being thrown on the fire.
I suppose it will take europe a decade to get itself organized and then what? Full scale war with russia?
Antonio airport? They've got as far as Italy now?😮
How is Ireland safe. UK is only spitting distance from us. Shannon Airport, and prevailing winds.
Southern hemisphere is safest part of planet.
Okay, find me the article in the NATO treaty where it states NATO must accept any membership application?
Yeah, there's confirmation now that they've moved on Chernobyl and taken control of Antonov airport, which is only a couple of KM outside of Kyiv.
This isn't Russia going hard in the east, it's full-scale invasion, Russia throwing everything at it, the worst of everyone's fears. Putin might be hoping he can take Kyiv this week and put an end to this swiftly.
The same sanctions being inflicted on Russia need to be inflicted on Belarus too.
War crime, right there. I literally just heard a big boom - hopefully it's just thunder.
