Get lost you apologist.
So here we are, while the UN security Council are still talking, Putin has made his mind up. Fair play to all ye Putinistas, your man is ahead of the game.
The sooner it gets to daylight in Ukraine the better. Might help clear the situation out and help the Ukrainians out a bit now. I say it's very scarey for a Ukrainian service person tonight hearing these reports. If this isn't Russia invading the rest of Ukraine at this very moment it will happen within the next 24 hrs.
Multiple explosions heard in Kyiv
His speech is pretty psychotic (again).
President Putin warned other countries that any attempt to interfere with the Russian action in Ukraine right now would lead to “consequences they have never seen".
Taking Mariupol will be easy once its softened up with missiles. Take out defensive infrastructure as a start and and then allow civilians to leave. If the city is not surrendered then it will lead to more death, the last offensive only had shelling to weaking enemy lines. Cruise missiles are a different story.
If Russia can control the Ukrainian land around the black sea thus depriving Ukraine of ports, its game over for them.
Surely the possibility that this man has gone mad has to be considered? His speech is one threat after another.
CNN reporting 7
I’m sure it has been, but it seems there are no checks and balances if that TV performance where he was basically just publicly humiliating senior office holders was anything to go by. It looks like the same kind level of deference that’s been seen in many a dictatorship, complete with cult of personality keeping him control.
It doesn’t look like there are any moderating voices.
The UNSC is effectively useless unless it’s dealing with someone who isn’t a permanent member and even then it’s more just about taking moral stances.
The problem now is that you’re looking at a force that really can’t be countered due to the scale of nuclear arms it has. There isn’t really any scenario in a nuclear war with Russia where the outcome isn’t mutually terminal and there in lies the problem with nuclear superpowers.
It may not be an economic superpower, but it has enough nuclear weapons to make it basically unanswerable to any other country or international body, so it can and is riding roughshod over the norms.
He's not well in my opinion. I don't know like anyone else but he's come across unhinged last few days to me. He basically threatened nukes in his speech.
Multiple explosions reported in Kyiv, air strikes being reported (but unconfirmed).
They were heard live on the CNNs Mathew Chance's broadcast.
Let's see will the curious Paul stay and join the army or run.
This could be one to watch, the two Turkish A400Ms are there, they were readying to depart and then turned off their transponders, now if they come under attack that could be considered an attack on NATO!
You do realise that if any of them come to harm, it is entirely Putin's fault. 'Please don't shoot back at our troops invading your country and killing all opposition, they might get hurt.' All that's going through your head are instructions from 55 Savushkina Street, St Petersburg.

Nice sentiment but this is actually what is wrong with the west in a nutshell
Wow you have some wishful thinking right there.

You sound giddy at the prospect
I can still feel empathy for the typical grunt in the Russian Army and their family, whilst still hoping that the Ukrainians kill enough of them to protect their country. They're not slaves, but it's part of the tragedy of war.
It's basically blitzkrieg on Ukraine. The whole country will be under Russian control in no time. And then what? What will we do then? Surely, with the exception of China, Russia faces being cut off from the rest of the world economically?
Far from it.
But I'm guessing Russian intelligence are well aware that Turkish military were there and it looks likely they have taken fire, apparently this is the airport that has taken fire-
EDIT: Report that the airport has been taken in control? By who? Russia? if so that is a game changer as they now have control of Turkish military/NATO equipment and personnel.
Everyone believes they're on the right side in war.
The translator for the Russian on the UNSC really doesn't seem like she wants to give any kind of motivation to the words.
What a sad mess. Hopefully the Ukrainian were smart enough to temporarily clear the front line trenches like what was done during bombardments in ww1
Surely they would have considering the US Intel announcing this in advance ???
Joe and Jill send their prayers to Ukraine.
What's the plan for tonight? All-out airstrikes? Surely would make sense to start slightly earlier to make the most of the night? Or is it just specific targets nears cities that are targets for now?
