On a related note, I see quite a few civilian flights still heading into Kiev airport. I can't even begin to imagine what the guys on those planes must be feeling right now. It's all just so goddamn senseless... You'd have thought that, given European history over the last 80 years, people would have wisened up at least a little bit, but no, we're going through the same BS again!
How so? It wasn't targeted at anyone, but if you go back through this thread there have been people openly laughing and saying it was Ukraines fault. They have backed up all the talking points coming out from Russia. So yes, absolutely, any blood spilled is equally on their hands.
History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce. If history repeats itself, and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must Man be of learning from experience.
The history books of the future are being written now, and as usual it repeats itself. Elimination of political opponents, state propaganda, rambling monologues about injustice, annexation of lost land.
This airspace is now closed by Russia for civilian aircraft, but open for military aircraft activity.
Theres a strong link between apologists since 2014. Light touch approach to actions then and actions now. Apologists and their spread of misinformation have their case to answer for. And it's not naivety.
There is no way to de-escalate a nuclear strike.
Fly Dubai going straight over Ukraine by the look of it.
Actions have consequences, even online. They may think they're just being cool or edgy or whatever, but their amplification of these messages can have real world impact. To really sad effect at times.
The narrative here is that Russia is in severe decline and this may me their last, highly dangerous attempt at survival. Coronavirus just hastened everything. Putin himself would be a dead man without the power he yields so expect him to hold onto it like a dog to a bone.
It seems less like capitalism vs communism and more authoritarianism vs liberalism.
Reports of a blackout in Kharkiv
I can understand the view that this war has nothing to do with Ireland's interests and we shouldn't get drawn in etc. But to back the Russian side from a moral point of view given our own history is sickening.
The parallels are as clear as day. Denial of the right to statehood. Criminal mismanagement, including a devastating famine. Ethnic cleansing and cultural assimilation. Occupation out of "security concerns".
For all that we ascribe to Britain, at least they've (mostly) accepted their status as a post-colonial power. Russia on the other hand is in rapid decline but can't accept its fate. Every action and statement they seem to take reeks of a need to prove themselves. An economy smaller than Italy and a collapsing population, yet they still want to be treated as a Eurasian superpower. Aggression in Ukraine might well (hopefully) be the swansong of imperialist Russia.
It's quite unbelievable that given the history and destruction of past wars in Europe that we are just about to witness what will be an atrocious war. Your right, it really is BS.
Sure, they went for a live fire exercise not too far off the coast of Ireland. God bless the fishermen, and that's not me being fecious, going up against them.

Yes and I would argue and try and expose their crap for what it is.
I think some are just useful idiots thinking that they have to put it up to the big bad US no matter what, and they will speal any kind of Russian propaganda if it helps prove their point.
But I still think saying they have blood on their hands is a bit much.
I've said it several times already, Russia will NOT go for a full invasion. Invading in itself would be doable but Ukraine is a huge country and Russia would simply not be able to keep it under control. When the dust settles on this he will have the two areas donesk and the other one (I can't remember the name) but that's it. Also the plus side, if there is one, is that the mask has irreversibly slipped on putin and he will be regarded and treated as a tyrant should be from here on in.
when the sick man or EurAsia/Russian empire finally collapses, the shudders across the world will continue for a hundred years
There’s the link. It won’t embed https://youtu.be/H7ZbVufqW3s
So angry right now I really hope to see Russian body bags piled high because that's all they deserve, but unfortunately I think it will be images of dead Ukrainian soldiers we will be subjected to☹️
I'm sorry, but if you participate in the amplification of propaganda in any situation that leads to mass death you are part of it and you cannot deny being part of it and wash your hands of it. There was a whole bunch of trials some years ago that set this into law.
@ACitizenErased reading some of the comments on the live feed and they’re saying it’s normal for the lights to go off at night in the suburbs. The city is in the top right of the screen and lights still on.
yep spotted that. Lot of the OSINT accounts are talking about anything and everything tonight
Not everyone wants Ukraine in the EU. They might have a right to statehood but that's does not mean they should be part of the EU.
Nato will never happen for them. Especially when Russia rolls in to protect the population asking for help in Donbass.
Ukraine will not be able to control any outcome until they have a new government that speaks to Russia.
A lot of the street lights are switched off in the early hours over there so yeah nothing too unusual.
Especially since we're not that far removed from these past wars. My grandparents experienced World War 2 first hand. One of my grandmothers witnessed the massive bombing attacks on Hamburg as a teenager, while the other used to run from the cellar used as an "air raid shelter" in her school because she was afraid she'd be buried down there. Maybe I'm overly emotional about this because I'm German and not only know my own country's history VERY well but also know the lessons we've drawn from that history, but to see all of these lessons just crumpled up and thrown away, the aggregate of all the suffering in our collective pasts just discarded while many people around have MET people who experienced that suffering, hell, while some survivors are still alive, It just, I just want to scream!
Apologies, I'm getting overly emotional, but it just makes me so angry and frustrated.
@realdanbreen When the dust settles on this he will have the two areas donesk and the other one (I can't remember the name) but that's it.
He's had full control of those areas for the past 8 years ,he's going to take as much of Ukraine he and Belarus can grap
The OSINT accounts were targeted by BOTS last night and today too. The bots multi report the OSINT accounts to Twitter and Twitter then suspends them. Took ages to get someone from Twitter with authority to get it sorted.
NO! You need help for wishing that on anyone. They are fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers etc at the whim of an order and the potential threat of retaliation to them and their family to not follow that order. That's a horrible thing to wish. Jeeze....
