Reminds of the Russian Meerkats on that advert.
Doesn't matter if Ireland is a small country. I don't think Coveney is under any particular illusion that his words will have much bearing on the larger geopolitical situation, but he's still within his rights as a statesman to tell Russia's representative in Ireland that Ireland does not endorse Russia's actions. The Russian ambassador can do as he will with that information, which is probably not a whole lot.
You laughed when I said Ukraine would be left in the Sh*t.
and
Ukraine has been left in the sh*t
the sanctions have been pathetic , the speech by Biden basically emphasising they will defend NATO only countries, and that all troop movements are .purely defensive.
it’s laughable,
Really?
Aren’t those who support and arm jihadist terrorists responsible for the conflict in Syria and the refugee crisis?

Read the second article.
There is multiple other news reports that will confirm there new supplys
Someone will put a bullet in his head before that happens. Russian generals aren't stupid. They know they can't use nuclear otherwise they'd be obliterated as well.
But you can already see the Ukraine is being left to its own. As long as Russia just strolls in and takes over and don't go beyond that no one is going to do anything.
It feels like a tremendous mistake though by the west (and possibly by Russia too).
You I don’t sound gleeful , it’s pathetic how the west have reacted.
I'm still laughing.
Remember no invasion 🤣 😂🤣
You mean putin
Stop misquoting I never said anything of the sort.
There not a fan of militaristic types what ever that means along with another well-known anti American poster
The Germans lit up the bradenburg gate in Ukrainian colors in soldidarity with Ukraine ,
Wonder if they ever sent the 5000 helmets
I doubt they'll be comparing willies or drawing swords. But I repeat myself.
He could open the exchange with a long history lesson about British imperialism in Ireland and the importance of small nations having the right to self-determination without interference by neighbourhood bullies. Then he should call senior government figures and advisors into the room one by one and ask them what they think of Russia's actions. Then thank him for coming to express his views (interrupt him if he challenges this). One minute for the 'How is the family?' stuff and cleaning the coffee cups and then show him the door.
I’m sure the ambassador would enjoy the anti Brit stuff anyway.
Really why should the US be the one to defend Ukraine? Aren't France, Germany, the UK big boys now? Or is that all just posturing?
The US has no more obligation to get involved than Canada or Australia do.
Imagine he sent the Army Rangers to kiev .
Unfortunately they can all line up to give speeches and sound bites but talking is cheap in this situation
Global Hawk over Ukraine.
I can't believe the Ukrainians have to buy guns. Why hasn't the west provided a few million semi automatics?
And another.
Definitely looks like a staged attack to take place tonight.
Lot of Russian heavy armour on the move to the border.
Also cheers to the mods keeping this on track and not overrun with questionable posts.
@Gatling I was waffling for sure. But I agree, talk is cheap. The idea of him sending the Rangers there as things stand right now, does not excite me in the slightest. There are more (and arguably better) ways to 'help' in a conflict situation than adding to the numbers of beligerents... providing medical supplies and personnel, streamlining residency for civilians caught up in the conflict etc.
All a set up. Russia is a thug nation and made it's mind up on this a long time a go.
Would Viktor Lukashenko in Belarus be a more likely target, what would happen if he was taken out by a drone attack like what happened the Iranian general in January 2020 when he happened to be in Iraq. That would be a big blow to Putin and would destabilize Belarus aswell as he is the only thing holding it within the Russian sphere
The sanctions are meaningless. We are dealing with a psychopath, he does not care about consequences, human or economic.
The west needs to get real tough, shut them off from all imports / exports, block them from Swift network.
Do we need to see petrol at 250c per litre ?
Bank of New York in Dublin hold billions of dollars for Russian investors.
Banks stealing rich peoples money is not a good business decision.
You never mentioned anything about the west helping to defend ukraine in your original post.
Your post seemed to be making out that the west is using ukraine to engage in a proxy war for them, when infact Ukraine will have no choice but engage Russian troops if they invade further regardless of weather the west sends them arms supplies or not.
Now ok ill admit you didn't use the words "to attack russia" ill hold my hands up to that one.
Regardless I still think its mental gymnastics trying to deflect this as the west using Ukraine to fight a proxy war when in fact it is Russia that is starting the war with Ukraine.
