The recognition of Kosovo is a blatant violation of international law and the territorial integrity of Serbia.
The EU’s reaction must be immediate. A new sanctions package must be adopted.
Oh sorry, wrong movie.😎
Putin just used tried and tested US script on how to... Create independent countries out of nothing.
That was tense to watch 😀
Are you here to discuss what's happening or are you now seeking out the tit for tat that has derailed this thread in the past, which you had called out.
I would expect her to say nothing if there was nothing to say. The AC has a history of being factual, so there's no reason to doubt this information.
EU saying Belarus and the cretin in charge there should face exact same sanctions for being Russia's b*tch
They may not used that term 😀
Has any foreign nation started rolling troops into Kosovo with the aim of taking control of a larger area?
No. The answer to that, is no.
That'll expedite the inevitable second revolution. He got out of that by the skin of his teeth last year, I'd say there'll be even more on the streets this time around.
I'm discussing what's happening right here and now, and asking for an interpretation of what is happening, right now, from those who told us Putin would not use military force against Ukraine. Do they still hold that view? What is the explanation for Putin seeking a decree to use military force outside of Russian territory?
pathetic from the USA. how have they not had the big book of sanctions ready to go as soon as Putin signed those declarations last night?
these are the words of a tyrant-
But it is unnecessary, as they say, to stop halfway. We are ready to show you what real decommunisation means for Ukraine."
Isn't it interesting to watch the sanctimonious condemnation today, the threats of sanctions etc...anyone remember the same when the US illegally massacred a million people in Iraq, or Israel suffering over Gaza etc...it seems that annexation, war and suppression of human rights by the West is fine...do as we say not as we do once more! The fact Putin is rotten is established and he is rightly condemned but the US have and do as he does with complete impunity! That is wrong no matter how much the Washington shrills here say otherwise.
It will be interesting how this plays out.
successful=/=correct
How can the deportation of innocent civilians be justified? Just because of their place of birth? I thought we were beyond this. I thought that we should judge a person by the content of their character rather than characteristics that they have no control over. The key to defeating tyranny is not to become tyrannical in the process, otherwise how do you sell your ideology and what is the purpose of your existence?
Profile of Putin ..from 2014
The main point is
'Psychologically speaking, the very worst response would be appeasement because this will simply fuel his contempt and strengthen the justification for his position. Strong consequences have to follow from his contempt for international law and treaties. This will cost the West dearly, economically speaking, but the longer-term costs of appeasement will make the costs of strong, early action appear trivial in retrospect.@ihrobertson'
Russia has announced that it is evacuating all of its diplomats and embassy staff from Ukraine effective immediately. Indeed, sounds like a country interested in taking a diplomatic approach to solving the crisis ...
Are you capable of addressing the current issue? Whatever may have happened in the Middle East does not exculpate Russia. As for massacres, I would put those down principally to Saddam Hussein, Bashir Al Assad and whatever monsters are/were in charge of ISIS.
not sure what media you consume, but iraq war was widely condemned by many, even before the WMD stories were proven fake. As for Israel, their actions wrt to Palestine have been widely condemned by everyone except the US. you might need some better examples if you're going down the "butwhatabout" route.
Firstly, two wrongs don't make a right. The Internet seems to have forgotten that phrase, thus every time someone does something bad, you can bet as sure as night follows day that there will be, "....butwhataboutwhataboutwhatabout???!1"
Secondly, plenty of people recognised that what the USA was doing was wrong at the time, and what its allies in the escapade were doing was also wrong.
Plenty of condemnation from within the nations thatbinvaded the middle east. Same people are condenming this.
Anyway, nice try at deflecting and derailing. Off ye go.
Vladimir Putin has just claimed a whole swathe of territory that the Ukrainian army currently occupies. That's as good as a declaration of war as you're going to get. He didn't even bother with a pretext. He's just straight up invading another country for no other reason than he wants to.
And yet, I see the "What about..." brigade are out in force.
Jesus Christ lads, would ye give it up?
You don't have to compare everything to America. You can just say that something is wrong.
If you cannot admit that what Putin is doing now is wrong then there is no hope for you and you've effectively outed yourself as a useful idiot.
So what now, the west pretend to sanction Russia while wringing their hands or will they put boots on the ground
Zero chance of boots on the ground. They'll do a bit of hand wringing, some sanctions to appear to be doing something and then basically give Russia the green light to annex the Donbas. It's the Crimea in 2014 all over again.
No chance of boots. Ukraine is not a valued member of the international community, it will not be assisted. Any sanctions against Russia will be solely for the purpose of hurting Russia rather than helping Ukraine.
This all about oil, energy and the West insane crazy financial and social policies.
Russia is one of the worlds biggest oil producers pumping nearly 11m barrels per day, Saudi Arabia by comparison only pumps 7m barrels. The USA is marginally ahead pumping around 12.6m barrels. Russia is the worlds number one gas producer also and has immeasurable coal and other resource reserves, they are the worlds largest country with enormous wealth. The play in Ukraine has surged energy prices so much that Russia is earning around €2-€3 billion dollars per day from sales of Oil and gas, they pump almost 1trillion cubic metres of gas per year at $2.1/ cubic metre. This has surged their exports and if the Europeans don't want it then the Chinese and Asian market will soak up the demand.
The Ukraine is a largely artificial creation much like Northern Ireland and I don't see much of problem with reunification with the motherland, Ukraine is so corrupt that Russia looks like a haven of freedom in comparison and under the Russian flag I can see things improving rather than the pivot towards the corrupt sick EU.
Putin is out to create wealth and bring back the days of the imperial empire and won't stop there and I can see the annexation of the baltic states before a drive into Poland and he will aim the restore the Iron Curtain, Nato are like Eunuchs and the US has the worst ever president at the helm who helped cause this to protect their own corrupt interests in Ukraine. If Trump there then there would be no war as a deal would have been done.
Hold your horses there a second. Let's not forget Trump tried to shakedown the Ukrainians and withhold military aid from them in exchange for dirt on his political opponent.
This is....this is....wow
They do, but they need to keep sanctions in reserves. Deploy them in stages. If there will be escalations by Moscow it will likely be done in stages.
This first round of sanctions (from everyone) is quite tame.
"The Ukraine is a largely artificial creation much like Northern Ireland and I don't see much of problem with reunification with the motherland, Ukraine is so corrupt that Russia looks like a haven of freedom in comparison and under the Russian flag I can see things improving rather than the pivot towards the corrupt sick EU."
Jesus wept! This must win some kind of prize, but delicacy forbid me from saying what kind exactly.
Once you mention that clown trump, you lose the argument.
Russian soldiers are entering into the area and the Ukrainian military hasn't done a thing.
