Looks like they have made 2 separate false flag attempts in the last 48 hours (at least what's reported) but Ukrainian military hasn't taken the bait despite losing 2 soldiers and several more injured. They are fleeing for safety to mother Russia before the Ukrainian army kill them. It will be all over the Russian news and then when they have to send in the army to prevent "genocide" people in Russia will be on board. It's not an invasion, it's an act of mercy.
Luckily the Ukrainians waited 8 years and only decided to invade (their own territory) when Russia concentrated their armies on the border.

Personally interested in FIFA’s and UEFA’s response to this. Russia host the champions league final this year. They’ll also be in the playoffs to qualify for the World Cup. Will both groups hold their nose and allow a war making nation to compete.
Ireland also travel to Ukraine in the summer for a NL game.
The sanctions are going to be extremely severe if the invasion goes ahead. Major sporting events and all that go out the window surely.

I would hope youse are right but Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014 and saw no sporting sanctions. They hosted the 2018 World Cup while waging war against Ukraine and occupying part of it.
And the history of the big sporting bodies is that they aren't just prepared to do business with those who have grubby hands, they actively prefer to.

I agree they should, anything sporting related Russia are in or host (Sochi GP has to be up there aswell) they should be banned from/striped of. However in terms of football I’d expect UEFA to nothing, unless the clubs threaten to join the Super League, money seems to be the only thing that motivates UEFA.
