But you would hope someone lending you that kind of money would have sense to ask you to check it's legit, a simple Google of her name any time after 2010 would see she was involved in fraud previously.

In many cases this is correct, but she is a convicted fraudster.
That is the record of the courts.
And the evidence put forward for these current scams is as watertight as you will ever get. So I really don't think there can be any pity for this fraudster.
The surprise is that she has not been arrested yet and hopefully her details are on record at airports and ports on the entire island.

You're totally correct. We've been totally unfair to Catriona Carey as we haven't expressed our true feelings as to how we'd behave if we were in her company.
Unfortunately, Boards.ie have rules against expressing such behaviours, so we have to behave ourselves. :)
When people are down and genuine, many others will rally around them especially family members.
I've been both a receiver of financial help many years ago and also have given help.
If I was in a situation like one of those in the program, I could easily raise €30k - €50k from family/friends.

The programme seemed pretty factual to me, she didn't really deny anything? The fact she seemed to be spending the money from the company accounts like she was in Brewster's millions isn't a good sign.

i always was told that everyone is innocent until proofed guilty and only a court of law can rule on this.
