And they certainly always want to control things like Oil and Gas. No surprise then that Ukraine is a prized asset to them. Russia provides 25% of Europe's gas (much more in the future) and 80% of that gas is piped through... you guessed it, Ukraine. And they share a massive border with Russia, with highly strategic port access that could cut Russia off geographically if they were to allow Ukraine to fall into western control.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure some of this stuff out.
But of course western propaganda will play the simplistic rhetoric about Ukrainian sovereignty, and many simple minded folk will lap it up and ask for seconds. Just like they did with Iraq etc etc. Some people never seem to learn.
Anyone spot the propaganda there? They used the word "axis" intentionally to make an association with the Axis powers of WWII.
Putin will probably make his address to the Federal Assembly within the hour. Don't expect any major announcement, but the tone and rhetoric will tell a lot.
