You should read about satelitte orbits, maybe you learn something
There is nothing to be won or lost on this thread, no special combination of words that will save a life or win an opponent to your cause, so I don't see why posters can't accept this and be civil to each other. Alternatively (and despite being anti-militarism myself I don't say the following ironically) some of the more excitable among ye could join some military somewhere and a) get some discipline and b) the ability to have an intelligent conversation about a topic without resorting to juvenile BS.
We're like the folks in Plato's cave; partially informed, looking at shadows on the wall, while 'messengers' whisper in our ears offering their interpretation of the shadows. And because this is our primary source of information we end up inflating it out of all proportion and --when it suits us-- mistaking shadows for reality.
Fact is, even if you were on the ground, even if you were embedded with military units, even if you were 4th in the line of command, even if you were in the Ukranian or Russian cabinet, you don't know whether the reports you are getting are true, what is left out, and whether your real enemies are 'themmuns' or your own.
Bickering about whether Russia/U.S. is stronger or more virtuous misses the point that ethics is a matter of personal responsibility and that the most important battles are internal and personal. Grandiose public shadow boxing displays are just that.
It's also a problem that small, civilized countries like Ireland have to navigate a world with giant trolls like the US/Russian/Chinese/UK/Et al. MICs in it. Surely what we should be doing is deconstructing MIC narratives wherever they arise, not lining up to wave flags for one or the other.
There is a sideshow to the antagonism between the US and Russian governments, the Magnitsky Act of 2012, paid for by Mr. William (Bill) Browder and supported by US senators Benjamin Cardin (D) and John McCain (R). Who is Bill Browder and what the hell has he got to do with Ukraine?
Nothing to do with Ukraine but much to do with Russian and American government relations. So much so that, that Russian president Putin bought him to the fore in front of the press in a meeting with US president Trump. Mr. Browder once worked for Robert Maxwell as an investment manager, that did not harm him and he eventually made his way to Russia via New York, running a firm called Hermitage Capital Management in Russia. HE fled Russia and took up UK citizenship. HSBC was fined £17 million by the Russian government for their part in the tax evasion.
Here is a review of the film The Magnitsky Act behind the scenes.
Worth keeping on a eye on this guys posts IMO
Why? He's just repeating gossip in a breathless style to keep fuckwits excited. Absolutely no real information.
"People are still living", he excitedly announces, while his camera pans round an entirely empty space.
I'm quite happy there wasn't an invasion, I don't want one and never advocated one... no one wins if there is, so I don't get what the whole "I feel sorry for you" crap is. To believe a specific date is silly also. Anything I've tagged you in (and you've refused to respond to) is not US intelligence based. But I didn't expect you to either or @BluePlanet @BurgerFace for that matter. As, with the above post, you'll gaslight your way out of most questions.
I follow the OSINT, and that is still indicating there is invasion level troops on the boarder. The main exercises are due to end 20th so we'll see what leaves the boarders, and even more crucially, what leaves Belarus then.
I also follow Russia 1 TV, which at the weekend was openly discussing how Ukraine should be partitioned up, and with linked FSB agents on prime time TV saying that Donbass is close to having concentration camps where Russian's will be gassed and its time for Russia to step in and end the conflict..
The fact you think this is all finished with is even more hilarious.
I see Iraq is still being brought up ......
I wonder how many days can we go before certain people bring up comparison's
It will be interesting to see how long that pontoon bridge remains in place. Operation Allied Resolve is not due to end until February 20th.
Also there is a road a few km south of that bridge giving much easier access to the border.
BBC were kind enough to point out where the troops are staying.
Evidently these tents can house 150,000 troops, who knew?

I know it's an attempt at sarcasm, but highlighting 2 of the BBC's examples from 20+ known troop aggregation points along the boarder, with "Oh lOoK 150k SoLdIeRs" is just making you look stupid.
Another field hospital, troops and attack helicopters being sent to the border with Ukraine.....
Russia won't invade lol
I see some lads here still trying to pretend US imperialism are cuddly little chaps who do no wrong and aren't right now involved in killing innocent people...
What does that have to do with Russia threatening Ukraine?
Don't bother, I know. Iraq/Libya/etc etc.
Start a thread on US imperialism instead of trying to derail this one.
Kicking off now. The usual false flags and pre invasion rhetoric from Moscow. Today is the day it seems.
It's a gaslight pivot move whenever asked something directly that they can't/won't answer
A Ukrainian village was shelled earlier with fire coming from separatists areas and heavy artillery hitting donesk airport
If you have to ask the question what it's to do with this situation either you haven't been paying attention or geopolitics is not your thing either was please lay off the back seat moderation.
Why ?
Because he is Donetsk on the ground and hearing bombs going off, also being reported in other places that is why.
You 'forgot' to mention the fire from the Ukranian side into the separatists areas....
Hopefully it is one of the rebels being trigger happy and not the start of a provocation aiming to justify war.
It's exactly what it is , they will start shooting until shoot back and Russia steams in to prevent Genocide and close the death camps
He literally says in the video that he can't hear the sound of artillery. He is not reporting any facts at all.
I'm all for getting information out from areas like this, but that's not what this guy is doing.
Unfortunately I suspect you are right. Certain posters here will then praise Russia for saving the poor civilians in the newly "liberated" areas.
Having suspected he's right please ensure you come back if he's wrong won't you, he's been wrong about everything else so far, he's an uncritical parrot for US intelligence..
He’s a tad confused in further tweets. First off he said Ukraine had shelled a kindergarten in the annexed area. But turns out the kindergarten is in Ukrainian controlled area and was shelled by the other side.
But I’m gonna follow him cos he’s on the ground, stuff is happening there and replies to his tweets are fact checking him. He wasn’t near the kindergarten so may have just been misinformed.
He's not exactly a journalist ,
I'm hearing noise off somewhere while randomly walking around a city or town
I actually hope he is wrong because if he is right it will be awful.
Video footage earlier on of white smoke coming out of the Russian embassy in Kiev (nothing to do with the Pope btw).
Could be nothing, could be an indicator.
