Option 2 is correct. The time taken for the sun to make one revolution of both tropics is the same, 24hrs
However the distance to travel both circumferences is longer on Capricorn than on Cancer

If that Gleesons map is correct then measured distances on land must be vastly different for New Zealanders compared to Europeans, so when they travel to Europe it should only take them about two strides to cover the 100m distance as the "real" distance is shorter in Europe. Does this explain why Kathy Freeman won the 400m in the Sydney games, as any athletes from Europe or the US were not used to antipodean distance on the ground?
