The inflatable 'Brudder' would be a bit out of place there.
The school in that listing was St. Josephs, a girls primary school.
The 'Brothers' was across on the other side of town.
St. Joseph's, the Brothers (primary) and a 3rd school, St. Michael's which was also started by the Brothers 150 years ago, were amalgamated into a new school at the top of the town.
The new school is named after Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Mercy sisters, which is one of the 2 all girls secondary schools in the town.
Heathens can now go to the new Educate Together and afterwards to the 'Tech'.
Those with notions, will continue to cross the bridge to St. Canice's Primary school on the Kilkenny side of the river for a 'better' education, although they remain in county Wexford.
I hope that clears things up :)
How can it be legal to have no window in a bedroom, there is no fire escape?
€365,000 for that shitheap in fcuking Galway!!! That is absolute madness.
Yeah, was pretty good I thought!
Saw this one posted on Reddit.

All you'ld need to top it off is an inflatable Christian Brother.
Anyone watch "Selling Irelands most exclusive homes"? Wowsers
Ah leave Seamie alone, he's only doing his job :)
If you want to live there you'll need to go 'whoops' with the digger and know your hurling.
Loads of old schoolhouses have been bought and done up into nice houses. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever.
What's unusual here is that nothing has been done to change it from a schoolhouse to a house.
I'm always amused when estate agent descriptions of derelict houses say "x bedrooms x bathrooms". The house does not in any meaningful way have those rooms, it would be a gut job and strip back to bare walls if you wanted to live there and with 40 m2 you'd have to eliminate one maybe two rooms by knocking internal walls. So the number of bed/bath is what you make it when you're done renovating.
The hallway in the first is the same size as one of the classrooms... 😜🙄
Oh you'd be playing hangman alright if you ended up living there...
Just think of the fun you could have with a box of chalks decorating your room though. Or playing hangman.
It looks like the agent for that school one used to be Camelot, who were big about 10 - 12 years ago doing this sort of thing.
They would manage vacant buildings, and provide them as temporary accommodation on a license/caretaker basis.
They havent even spent any money on it whatsoever to make it liveable and comfortable. They just stuck in a few bits of cheap second hand furniture. Literally its old classrooms with cheap useless furniture - pathetic.
Jaysus. How was planning permission ever given for a school building to be used as residential accommodation.
Another example of our dysfunctional housing market.
lol
Depressing looking, that school.
The size of the room and they couldn't even put in a real bed. Grim.
hahaha wtf is going there??
This would give me some psychological flashbacks. Total PTSD about it.
You can rent a room in a former school in New Ross. €275 a month, bills included, bring your own rug. Bring a friend for a romantic dinner. Only good thing is that the toilets aren't from a National School so you don't have to sit on it with your knees around your ears. Chalk off each day on the blackboards.

Ha!!!! Holy moly, I misread that.
It's a snip at 5.5!
€15.5 million?
Think you need to read the article again!
I know the market prices are high but €15.5m sounds way over for that property.
Sure it's a contemporary modern build in a very prestigious location. However as has been pointed out- the lovely cove becomes a cess pit of the worst of the worst people the city has to offer from May to September.
That's €8m all day long. It'll be interesting to see if it sells at close to that price.
Plus as the owner ages, they'll regret putting in that sunken area.
The scabby looking lockers/tables they have beside the beds.
€5.5m would buy an awful lot better methinks.
Just piss in the kitchen sink like a normal person.
" The property accommodation comprises of three bedrooms, kitchen/dining room, and pantry. "
So no bathroom, that's one of the bedrooms then 🤣🤣🤣
How the other half live!
It was sold in 2010 for €3.1 million and then returned to the market in 2013 seeking €3.75 million, this time with planning for the construction of the new property. The existing house and mews was to be demolished and the new design given a 180-degree spin so that the main entrance now faces Sandycove Avenue North, a warm and welcoming south-westerly aspect. It is listed as having sold for €2.75 million in August of that year, according to the property price register
