I never said the earth wasnt flat, I said it wasnt a globe. The concept of it being flat would mean it has no mountains or valleys which it clearly does.

The oil settles as it has a relative density less than water
The water settles on mercury as it has a relative density less than mercury
if you have a 50,000 gallon tank and put 1 gallon of water in it and fill the rest with oil, do you think the oil will float on top of the water?
