It's very easy to judge people and wonder why they weren't wise to it but these people were very stressed and seeking a solution.
When you are in that place, you are vulnerable and it is despicable that she scammed them in this way.
She is so bloody calm.

Lesson is if it sounds too good to be true, it's a scam - run a mile.

The worst bit imo is these people were sold a lie....they might have made moves to protect their home if they weren't operating under the illusion that her company owned the property but instead it was sold out ftom under them (regardless of how naieve they might have been)....she would be on the hook for that along with the "deposit" swindled in my eyes too
It's just extraordinary, had any of these people paying anything, engaging, Mabs, ISI they may have had some chance or at least do a personal insolvency arrangement.

All these large deposits.. why not put them into the mortgages they were trying to exit rather than engaging these shysters.

A lad had 35k of his auld lads money that was left to him that he used to put on a dodgy deposit....why wouldn't he have pumped that into the distressed mortgage?

Exactly the whole situation is just bizzare but in fairness people do silly things in desperate situations
They found the ID of the "solicitor" by comparing two voice recordings. One recording is of a conversation with one of the guys looking for the loan but where did the other voice recording come from? How did they find his identity?
