Sunday Times/Behaviour and Attitude Poll
FF extends lead over FG but SF most popular - new poll (rte.ie)
SF = 34% (no change)
FF = 25% (+1)
FG = 20% (-2)
Green = 5% (+2)
Labour = 4% (no change)
Social Democrats = 2% (+1)
Leo leading FG back to below where they where at the GE. Predicted over a year ago when they were getting a bounce from the pandemic handling. He'll make it worse if they let him become Taoiseach again IMO
It seems to appear that Leo is the best thing to happen to SF.
“Support for Sinn Féin remains unchanged at 34% since the last comparable poll, published on 23 January. Support for Fianna Fail has increased by one point to 25% while support for Fine Gael has dropped two points to 20%.
Support for Labour is unchanged on 4%, the Green Party is up two points to 5%. The Social Democrats have gained one point bringing the party to 2% while Solidarity People Before Profit is down one to 1%. Independents are up one to 9%.
Satisfaction ratings for Mary Lou McDonald rose two points to 51%. Similarly, Micheál Martin is up three points to 51%.
Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar is up three points to 44% while Green Party leader Eamon Ryan remains unchanged at 33%. Labour Party leader Alan Kelly is up one point to 43%.
Overall satisfaction with the Government is up two points to 46%.“
Support for SF unchanged. FF up 1, FG down 2, GP up 2, PBP / Alphabetti party down to 1%. MM and ML equal in popularity stakes with Leo-up 3%. Overall satisfied satisfaction in the government up 2%. All in all confidence in the government is holding steady. SF not making any ground up.
Is it not more worrying to you that as we come out of covid the government didn't get a bump? All the traditional crises such as health and housing are roaring back.
Where did the health and housing crises go during the pandemic? A & E are for accidents and emergencies, strangely enough. Not for issues that have been ongoing for a few days and could have been treated by a GP or pharmacist. “Homeless” figures were much lower during the pandemic. Where did they go?
Who could buy a house during the pandemic? It was widely covered that people with an illness during the pandemic were avoiding hospitals, especially older people when they could. Accidents/Emergencies likely didn't happen as much with most people working from home and nowhere open.
Homeless went into shelters, also widely reported.
Unless you believe the figures are all fake and people only pretend to be homeless when there is no pandemic.
Houses were sold during the pandemic. Fact. (Just ask any auctioneer)
If one was ill enough or had a serious enough accident, they wouldn’t think twice or have any option but go to A&E. Fact.
Not all homeless went into shelters. If they had, they would still have been included in the figures. Amazingly, many of them found shelter with families, friends or partners. Fact.
Covid Maryanne. A freeze on rents and evictions. People afraid to go to public places. Doctors concerned over people living with illness instead of seeking treatment sooner. It's all very well documented.
Besides the point. Now we are beginning to make Covid more manageable and the public, not just politicians, can experience more freedom, are you not concerned there was no bump in support for the government parties? It'll hardly improve for them.
“Now we are beginning to make Covid more manageable and the public, not just politicians, can experience more freedom, are you not concerned there was no bump in support for the government parties”
Was there a bump for the opposition?
From my earlier post “Overall satisfaction with the Government is up two points to 46%.“
Support for SF unchanged. FF up 1, FG down 2, GP up 2, PBP / Alphabetti party down to 1%. MM and ML equal in popularity stakes with Leo-up 3%. Overall satisfied satisfaction in the government up 2%.”
Why would the opposition get a bump? If coming out of restrictions doesn't help, an increase in people on trolleys and needing housing won't.
SF are a full 14% above FG. You must have a very short memory if you think that is anything but a disaster. It's not that long ago that SF being anywhere close to FG in the polls would have been simply unheard of.
To make matters worse, the party that destroyed the economy only 15 years ago is deemed a better option than FG. 5% better in fact.
How the mighty have fallen. How the elite have fallen. How New Politics has been exposed to be a complete sham. And not a decent leader amongst them to rescue the situation. 11 years of FG and housing, health, justice in crisis. Epic fail.
Indeed. Why would the opposition get a bump! After all, they’ve done nothing to capitalise on the crisis. All mouth and damn all else! As I already asked. Where were the trolley and homeless people during the pandemic? If one is ill or injured seriously enough, they’d still go to A&E. Homeless found homes by miraculous means.
Growing their support by 10% to be the leading party in the country is 'doing nothing' :) :)
Impressive, but recent polls shows they’ve plateaued. No great gains in recent months.
I remember a poster staking his credibility on SF having reached their 'ceiling' when they were on 16%.
Fact. Fact. Fact. 😂
Nowhere in any of my post were the words "all" or "every" mentioned, and pointing out that roughly 2% or less of the buying/homeless/unwell population did the opposite of the majority as a counterpoint is poor. But humorous.
The fear of change is very similar to unionist fear of change in the north. Here's a media outlet afraid to show it properly on a graph. 😁
'Maybe if we don't show it, it hasn't happened?'
A graph showing both FF & FG increasing their share and SF at no change?
You need keep updated. There are numerous articles on concerns regarding people afraid to go to A&E during covid. Its old news. We had a rent and evictions freeze.
As the effects of covid lessen so the numbers rise. Where did you think the all went and why do you think they are on the rise?
“Where did you think the all went and why do you think they are on the rise?” That’s what I already asked. Where did the homeless go during the pandemic and what did the genuinely sick and injured go?
😁😁 A graph that clearly states it's intention is to show the 'state of the parties' and whose creator does not understand scale or does understand it but does not want to show the difference. You choose.
A graph that shows 9 as smaller than 5?
Yes, Virgin Media are in on the heist as well.....
What heist Mark?
People across the Ireland are petrified of change and why would a 'journalist' not be among them? The creator of that graph couldn't bring themselves to show the scale of difference properly. Simple as that, no need for you to be going off on conspiracy theories.
It's just a sh*t graph.
Look at the size of the gap of 9 between the top two most popular parties in the country (Sinn Fein and Fianna Fail) according to it. And then look at the size of the gap of 1 between The Green Party and Labour. It is hardly an accurate graph.
Or more noticeable, the huge gap of 14 between the most popular party in the country Sinn Fein, and the party just ahead of the independents/others - Fine Gael, and the gap of 15 between Fine Gael and the Green Party, they are far from similar sized gaps, despite similar large gaps between them.
So you instil a conspiracy because of one crappy graph? Hilarious.
Let's be honest about this, you have zero credibility anymore about anything to do with politics. It's clear that you were never arguing in good faith, right from the get-go.
As to your conspiracy, I think most people accept that SF will be part of some future government. Sure want EoB talking to developers recently in a private setting telling them all, 'Don't mind what I say in the Dail, it will be business as usual when we get to power'
Looking at their record in the North, seems to be the case.
Yea, the graph is crap, but was it made on 'orders' on high or was it made by some student who didn't have a clue?
You are the one talking about 'conspiracies' Mark.
I just posted a graph the creator of which did not want to show the scale of the difference between the parties.
The greens are the enablers. We know what FF and FG are like. But the greens bent over and let FFG take reign of the country.
The greens must be buried once and for all next time. The greens would have got into bed with Hitler if it allowed them to achieve a little bit of their aims.
