Genuine question Elperello - and one that you ignore every single time I ask it - is there anything you feel RTÉ deserve even the slightest criticism for?
I’m somewhat fascinated by your desire to defend or provide excuses for them at every opportunity. Is there anything they have done poorly or could do better in your opinion?
Jesus that was awful. The man is some sort of narrcasist. I think he referred to himself as a superstar maybe four times.
Its clear his kids do not feel comfortable with having their whole life being online and being monitizied. I hope they don't end up being to badly damaged.
What a vile person.
I do hope Bryan has a nice snooze this morning and recharges fully after the exhausting start he’s had to the year. Starting on January 10th couldn’t have been easy, and the exhausting (by my calculations) 28 hours (I’m allowing 2 hours for each LLS even though it’s not even 2 hours anymore) he’s put in since then would take its toll on anyone. He truly is an inspiration to the frontline workers he celebrates so often…..
edit: whoops, wrong thread!
Pray tell, who was this superstar?
Some YouTuber called Johnathan Jolly.
"My kids are totally into it".
"Sometimes they say I don't like this daddy. And I say what about when we go to Disney land and they close the ride down for you and you meet Elsa. Isn't It worth it then"
No mate, you are whoring your kids out.
good man Richard, of course Simon was staying clear, remarkable family
This lad is dodgey as anything, the Chinese were right to lock him up I'd say.
Have you followed the story?
The interview with Richie Sadlier was quite interesting this morning.
Brendan trying to get in a few quips while interviewing someone living in Ukraine (Irish ex-pat I think). Not taking the situation at all seriously, wishing the man luck as if he was about to go in for a Christmas day swim. Very poor stuff.
Ballsy seems to be unable to hold a panel for longer than about 45 mins.
show has deteriorated a lot in the past year
Who is the man on at the moment? Just tuned in.
Don something, seems a great guy with helping ‘early school leavers’
Don O'Leary director of Cork Life Centre.
Why are RTÉ so very slow to make this show available for listening back to on the player?
You can get it here -
The interviewee was articulate and ran rings around O'Connor. As an interviewer he hadn't even bothered to establish the facts for Irish nationals in Ukraine. As the interview went on BOC tried to establish himself as some sort of diplomatic conduit. Truly bizarre stuff.
Yeah. If you willingly to China to do some dodgy deal and then get caught out I've no sympathy.
No sympathy, no clue.
Well done to everyone involved with the The weekend on one with BOC. Not only could it not attract a new sponsor after many months (resorting to giving the last sponsor cut price deals), it can barely attract any revenue generating adverts.
Not sure what happened before 11.50 but I doubt it was much if the below is anything to go by.
11.50 Centra, Ryan T show promo.
12.30 National Archive (RTE supporting the arts...), Liveline promo
12.50 Mir O Cal promo, NSO (RTE), Home instead.
12.57 SVP volunteer ad, Hyundai, Rolling wave promo.
That's 'peak pandemic' levels of adverts.
Contrast that to Katie H. The last 20 mins of her show had 6 paying ads. Initially and because I'm an ol softy, I felt a bit sorry for Brendan. No real sponsor - very few advertisers but then I thought about the €220k he got in 2019 and the probable €300k he'll have been paid for 2020 and I thought, **** him. This show is dead in the water and is now a loss maker. That won't make RTE change it or anything mad like that. As Forbesy knows, it's very easy spending someone else's money.
I hope Noel manages to get the parenting columnist Jen Hogan onto the panel tomorrow to discuss the Russia-Ukraine situation. She's great. Or Hugh Wallace...he'd be brilliant too.
elps, I won't be clicking on those Pravda links but I suggest you send them to the advertisers because they seem to be thinking with their feet.
Don't mind me lad...I'm just 'riffin'
No, go on do, click on them.
You know you want to🙂
Ever read ‘The Emperors New Clothes’ a H. C Anderson story. I feel it would suit you.
Why is it you never seem to reply to my questions? You don't have to scroll back too far to find the latest ones you've avoided. I'm genuinely curious.
Apparently BOC admitted that his show was really all "propaganda" live on air a couple weeks back. He may be the (single, token) media casualty of Covid, of course that would be too much to hope for. Go on, tell us again Brendan how the unvaccinated were the under-educated cohort :-)
Barely bother listening anymore, might catch the newspapers and that's it. No sympathy for the host, he's had 2 full hours to develop on two prime listening weekend slots. And just largely filled them with a mixture of HSE and government messaging combined with mental health woes.
Christy Dignam had some loose lips on that segment, O'Connor was sh*tting himself. Lol.
If his claim that a wedding singer got €46,000 in Covid Payments is true it really is a mockery, almost as bad as Sammy Sausages and the wonderful Karl getting €300,000 for their amazingly artistic and culturally relevant panto.
Well there's a surprise, Philip Boucher Hayes will be discussing carbon taxes and climate change in the context of the current European crisis 😒😒
I can't cope with this breathless, "Im going to keep speaking until I actually need to gasp for breath". Followed by a sharp intake of breath. I find it hard to listen to.
*gasp*
