It amazes me that people conditioned to just accept that America are in the equation. They have absolutely zip reason to be involved in this. Just like they had zip reason to be involved in Libya, Yugoslavia or Syria.
They are a country on the other side of the world. These Places are closer to China than the US, and China never feels the need to get involved in border disputes or internal politics.

Yeah good points to be fair, I think china are a double edged sword for Russia, for as much of an Allie they are they are a threat too taking a big chunk of Russia military hardware exports.
I agree about the west putting up a paper defense of Ukraine, with there official stance but I do think the US will sow the sanctions onto Russia and that's why they are ratcheting up the tensions as punishing Russia financially is good business for them.
But the west aside I think the Ukraine will put up ferice resistance but lose the conventional war, but the guerilla war Russia will then find themselves in will be devastating for years to come.
As for the grain I think Ukraine has some of the most fertile soil in the world so definitely plausible points.
Its amazing people are conditioned to think Putin Russia is not a massive threat.

European sanctions only work when the EU countries all buy into it. It will come down to the impact the Energy prices/availability will have on the individual country. If that is not replaced then why should a country agree with it.
China gets massive leverage for doing nothing. They could end any Russian moves with a statement saying they disagree with how Russia are acting in XYZ.
From a defensive point of view Russia is untouchable. No country will start anything on Russian land as it can wipe out any land incursions easily.

China holds a majority of global grain reserves, largest producer as well.
Globally grain stocks are very high but outside of China they are at multi decade lows.
Russia is a global export power in grain and the South West of Ukraine, the Russian speaking part is the growing hub of the Ukraine.
Limiting Russian exports of fertilizer will hammer production of grain in Europe.
The EU is looking to a post agricultural Europe, import beef from Brazil, lamb from Australia etc.
Food production is seen as vulgar, environmentally destructive, and unnecessary. Reducing production from probably the best suited agri land in the world is not considered or the global impact of that.
