Forgot she was in that. For years she was primarily known for theatre but would make make occasional unexpected appearances in Hollywood movies.
She's also in Three Men and a Little Lady, the sequel to Three Men and a baby.
Shaw did quite a bit in the 90s.

I thought Rylance was excellent in Wolf Hall. Cant recall much else I've seen him in. I saw that movie Intimacy when it came out but forgot he was in it till it was mentioned a few posts back.

Mark Rylance has probably been one of biggest theatre performers for the last 20 years with very occasional film performances. Fiona Shaw would be be similar. Apart from being in the early Harry Potter films, I can't remember her doing much TV or film work. She's making up for it now though, as is Rylance. Both of them make acting very different parts look entirely normal. You get the impression real theatre has been their first love rather than film. If you just watch film and tv but don't venture out to the theatre, the likes of Rylance and Shaw would have passed you by. They are both far better actors than most who receive Oscars or golden globes.
I was reminded of another Horrid, ghastly irish celeb who'd thankfully vanished from the spotlight by his rather annoying appearance on the utterly dreadful Late Late Valentines special (that's being generous) last night. He appeared with his husband Oorthur 🙄

Basically, Rylance was a hit on Broadway in several plays. He was artistic director of the Globe. I read somewhere he said he'd auditioned for films, but was always turned down. I know Spielberg wanted him to be in Empire of the Sun, but Rylance consulted the I Ching and turned down, the role going to the infinitely more talented Paul McGann.
As opposed to say Postlethwaite who was around as a 'you know the face' character actor in telly for yonks, before gradually rising up the ranks.
Spileberg saw him, offered him the job, and unleashed him onto the rest of the world .
I don't think he's a natural screen presence at all.
I was watching him in an early Screen Two he didfor the BBC, THe MacGuffin, which has a wonderful cast - Charles Dance, Jerry Stiller, Brian Glover, Ann Todd, Anna Massey, Roger Lloyd Pack, Chris Langham (NOW there's someone who's disappeared, though for good reason), Francis Matthews, all of whom are better actors, and Rylance as the doomed Hitchcock blonde/transvestite youth who gets killed is **** atrocious. His emphasis on words are all wrong, he tries to be seductive and he just seems silly. Dance seems to be faintly embarrassed.

The band Ash from Northern Ireland, they had some great tunes back in the day but have since vanished AFAIK
Yeah, it was very odd how his death seemed to go virtually unreported by RTE and the press at the time (the Irish Times, did do an obituary, its in the link).

Somebody on Twitter started a Philip campaign and oddly some of his relatives tried politely to dissuade him from continuing, possibly to do with 80s homosexuality Shame or summit, died young in London after Bosco . Certainly has me interested now

Other way round, DJ took her down. Got her to cosign on a loan for his business. His business was a disaster, and due to the deal he'd signed, he essentially ruined her, financially. She bore the brunt of the financial loss.
They were due to get married too. Didn't he leave his wife and kids for her?

Futterman went on to much greater things. He's been twice Oscar nominated, as a screenwriter. Once for writing Capote, and the second time for Foxcatcher. Him and Townsend both tried their hand at either writing or directing. Only difference is that Futterman was good at it.
I remember seeing him in Shooting Fish in the late ‘90’s … he did a decent job in a quirky decent-ish comedy, played a guy called Jez..if my memory serves…
Kate Beckinsale, Dan Futterman and Peter Capaldi all starred… it was reasonably reviewed if not groundbreaking…
I've never understood how Rylance managed to go from obscure actor, to Oscar winner, after some of the films he did. Like, take Intimacy (2009). He starred in the movie alongside Kerry Fox, and one of the scenes in the film involves the actress Fox giving him oral sex, but unsimulated oral sex. Her career died a death afterwards, whilst he gets to star in kids films like the BFG. Many actresses who did far less, never got the mainstream success.
He's a boring actor. His character in Ready Player One was just a grown up Garth from Wayne's World.
Gavin Lambe Murphy's whole story was completely fictional. He told everyone he was due to inherit a 'massive fortune'... when in face his real name was Gavin Murphy, he was from a normal Dublin family, and there was no massive fortune. He added the 'Lambe' part to his name-to make himself sound more important.
He was pretty much broke, and making money from getting freebies because he was a 'celebrity'. Even got into expensive events because they thought he was famous. He was writing for some newspaper... who's name I don't care to google.
He was a fraud.
Speaking of folks who disappeared-whatever happened to the O'Hailpin brothers? They were all the time hyping them up because the ladies in the media thought they were 'gawrjuss'.
They don't even do punditry on TV, or anything. Just disappeared from the spotlight.
Same for Bill and Jackie on the Apprentice, some for Jay Bourke who was 'The Mentor' on RTE advising other businesses, and is now haggling to hold onto his big house in Rathmines while going through insolvency.
Don't believe everything you see on TV.
