Still a pretty good wad of at least €800 a month he is gaining from the taxpayer. As well as that, they will look after maintenance and fittings, what's that worth? Another 5k a year?
As I said, he has a nice little perk, all at the taxpayer's expense.
At least………..this lad is fooling nobody.
Edit: I just checked the price of houses in 2001. You could get a 3 bedroomed house in Lucan for between 120K and 140K.
This case illustrated perfectly why the Co. Councils should be investing in social houses for rent. They still own a property that is now generating enough money to investing in new housing.
Is that because their household income is too low to pay 400 a week?
It is blocking a house for someone in need and he is benefitting from lower rent than the market. If you want to keep defending that, off you go. Your explanations only make it worse.
You say he is a carpenter. As a self-employed tradesman he was assumed to be earning €520 a week, when he is likely to have been earning much more. Up until becoming a TD, he wouldn't have paid much rent, so your claim that his rent has well paid for it is moot. In any event, the cost is the opportunity cost which is what it costs the Council to buy a house now.
If you think the rent for the property I linked it high, check this one out:
https://www.daft.ie/for-rent/apartment-strand-view-bray-co-wicklow/3652910
Well, I disagree with the market dictating Government housing policy. The aim should be to provide affordable housing for everyone. As regards the link - the cost of the rent of those apartments on the seafront in Bray (different to a council housing estate in Wicklow town) make them unaffordable for most people. Those high end apartments cost from 460K to 700K, so not surprising, the rent is what it is. Your friend, the private developer (or vulture fund) will pocket most of that.
You might be aware that there was a building crash which meant that many self-employed trades were out of work and had to emigrate. Some would have been burnt by the developers. In fact, he went out of business in that period and probably why he has ended up in politics. He has lived there for 20 years, so maybe he should not have to move and end up buying a house down in the far end of Wexford because that is all he will be able to afford. As well as that, politics isn't exactly a secure job and unlike FFG colleagues in the Dail, doesn't have a property portfolio to keep the roof over his head and his family if he doesn't get elected to the next Dail. Its probably doubtful he would be eligible for a mortgage.
So, we have SF supporters defending the scenario that a SF TD earning over 90,000 euro taking up a social house?
Hilarious!
You guys do know that the salary figure puts them in the top 10% of earners in the country? Is this new SF policy where people earning up to and over 90,000 a year can avail of a social house?
Those on minimum wage with no children can be better off on the dole !
Just over 50K over the limit but it's their forever home now.
David 'Up da Ra' making a tool of himself on Twitter.
I feel support for SF has peaked. Even online there seems to be a steady realisation post covid, when we are having to deal with the real world problems again, that SF just rinses and repeat the same ol' $hite again and again.
All they have going for them at the moment are a crew of angry and motivated individuals ready to shout and roar people down.
People may not be over the moon with the current government, but they look at SF and say 'You guys reaaaallly need to step up your game'
Sinn Fein support has not "peaked" it has been constantly rising and will continue to rise no matter how much you hope and pray it won't, they're the most popular party in the Republic by quite a bit, they're the party who need to step up their game the least.
Change is coming mark, deal with it.
He has lived in the house since 2000 well before he was making 90k a year, he pays 19k a year in rent, it wouldn't be fair to throw him and his kids out of his family home, he's not ripping anyone off he simply likes the house he lives in and wants to remain there.
He does not pay €19000 a year rent. Based on current guidelines from Wicklow CC he pays €9600 if he is taking his full income but that goes against the lies about SF TD's taking the average wage as salary so there is another lie there. Why would someone on the average industrial wage pay almost €1600 a month rent for a social house?
Another question do you think someone on €90k+ wages should be living in social housing?
It's not lies, Sinn Fein TDs are no longer required to take the average industrial wage, that was stopped a couple of years back, in the 80s they didn't take any wage at all so they are now more than entitled to take the same wage as everyone else.
I was quoting another poster who claimed he was paying 19k a year I'm not sure how much he pays in rent.
So SF TD's now take their whole salary + expenses and you have no idea about the €19k rent just quoting from another poster. Didn't take long to clear that up.
DPSF are a tragic pairing.
I was just going on what I read in the thread, I don't know if you are correct or he is.
"It will continue to rise.."
Sounds like you are selling me a Ponzi scheme...
Tell us wise one, what level of support will SF have at the next election?
40%, 50%, 60% .... after all they are at mid-low 30% according to the polls, the election is 2-3 years away... surely the support they are going to get is going to be much much higher?
€9,600 a year, that is what, €800 a month.
12 properties in Ireland with 3 beds and a maximum of €800 per month. I didn't even count the fourth attic bedroom. If we look at Wicklow and include the attic bedroom, and we allow him the higher rent of €1600 per month, the number of available properties is zero - no point in even posting that link.
So no matter which way we look at it, on top of his 100k package of salary and allowances, the taxpayer is further subsidising his housing. No wonder there is a shortage of social housing, if rich people like him are allowed play the system like this.
I'd say Sinn Fein support will be at a steady 40-45 percent in time for the next election.
ROFL....
That would mean that SF would be winning two or 3 seats in every constituency....
Not going to happen.
You and the others were saying the same thing when SF support was at 20 percent, SF continues to surprise it's critics, I wouldn't count them out on this one either mark.
This post should be bookmarked. It is more likely that they will be 20-25% rather than 40-45%.
I'm getting that figure based on Wicklow Co. Council information on how they calculate rent. I got the information on their website. I don't know if that is what Brady pays, but it is what Wicklow Co. Council can charge him based on his household income. I've based his income on his Dail salary. His wife or some of his children could be working and so he could be paying more as the calculation of rent is based on household income.
I don't see why it's hard to believe blanch, if I told you ten years ago that Sinn Fein would be topping the polls by quite a margin at 35 percent you would have said the same thing, yet you regard it now as nearly impossible that Sinn Fein support could rise by another 5 percent in the next 2 or 3 years.
You seem to be in denial.
Why do you make up what I said? I never said it would be nearly impossible. I just said it is more likely that they will be at 20-25% rather than 40-45%.
You said this post should be bookmarked implying my post was extravagant and out there.
Again, unlikely doesn't equate to nearly impossible.
Opposition parties peak at mid-term. That is a phenonemon clear across the world.
Where's he wrong?
Why do you see any criticism as an angry rant? They were doing well before covid. Why do you think covid becoming more manageable will change anything?
seems that when called out on their fantasy the shinners revert to the bar room bully's that is their nature ,
lucky there were too many people around for them to stomp some one to death and run away this time 😶
