Interesting..
So , these numbers mean Trump is unstoppable etc.
Bidens numbers in this same poll are better ( not by much, but still better) and according to you that means that Biden is a disaster and the worst ever and so on and so on so.
Care to explain the difference in viewpoints on what are essentially very similar polling numbers??
National Archives had to retrieve Trump White House records from Mar-a-Lago
Totally normal.
they had to retrieve some from the waste paper bin in the white house as trump had a habit of tearing them up. that comes from a lifetime of covering criminality.
They had to cello tape them ones back together.
And this from a guy who based his campaign on vilifying his opponent about missing emails and what that implied...
14 boxes.
14 **** boxes!
The “but her emails” crowd are gone very quiet.
“Donald Trump's new book lauds Boris Johnson as the best UK Prime Minister since Churchill”
Great judge of character.
Are you implying that Donald is in fact a massive hypocrite, everlast75? Surely not! 😅
A lot more than 14. How much did he destroy is the question.
I’d love to know how nobody is the White House didn’t stop the people removing those boxes ?
Seems that RNC statement and how they described the events of January 6th as legitimate political discourse isn’t getting the universal support they expected.
Either some news is gonna break about Jan 6th or else the polling is telling them to drop Trump I reckon
In fairness, that's nothing really new from McConnell.
I could have sworn McConnell had flipped on the insurrection several times at this stage.
After what Pence said as well, maybe the tide is turning. And mental Marge saying that civil war within the party is necessary. It's going to be an amusing watch!
It’s the one bloody thing he’s been fairly consistent on. His speech on the senate floor after the objection to Arizona was fairly direct and called what the others in his party were up to out.
Well I doubt it’s anything new. I think they are finally realising that the big lie over the election is starting to backfire(shouldn’t have taken 13 months but however) to figure this out. You can’t keep casting doubt on an election and the voting system and be shocked when the base you keep telling it to, decide to not turn out to vote for you. It happened in Georgia last year when the GOP turn out was down because for two months they’d been told the voting system was rigged.
Maybe not new, but the timing directly after Pence, is notable.
Apart from that speech he has been relatively quiet about it, not saying much one way or another.
Until now. So why? Why say anything and why now? He isn't doing it for the love of democracy or whether its right or not. His track record would suggest he is more focused on what is most advantageous to his agenda that actual rules.
So why come down so hard against Trump, when all indicators are that such a move is a losing strategy?
“In the past week:
- Mitch did a 180 on Trump
- Pence did a 180 on Trump
- Graham did a 180 on Trump
- Troy Nehls posted Capitol Police propaganda on his Twitter page 10 hours ago.
- McCarthy was seen fleeing from journalists
Something is off.”
Something big is definitely coming and it doesn’t involve ice cream.
Careful.
While they may give the impression that they are stepping back from the QANON/white-hood red hat brigade they are still pursuing an agenda of trying to rig the next elections with their voting restriction acts. They still actually did censure Cheney et al. They still believe that people storming Capitol building was "Legitimate Discourse". They still vilify anyone who even hints at the idea that trump is not the very model of everything the GOP stands for.
Trump and his ideals are the gold standard of the GOP party. This is POLICY! EVERYTHING he stands for is GOP policy. This has not changed.
he is a 79 year old senator who is not due for re-election until 2026. not sure what he has to lose.
His legacy?
LOL. wait, you're serious?
Not to us. God no.
I meant the people who revelled in his ruthless advancement of the GOP agenda.
What does he have to lose? We are told repeatedly that Trump controls millions of potential GOP voters, that their support is vital and that rocking the boat will do damage to both the person and the GOP.
So why would he do it, and do it now?
The easiest thing, the thing he has done for almost a year, is to say nothing. But he chooses now, along with the likes of Pence to make this statement?
They may in fact be taking the view that there is nothing to lose. That Trump does not hold the sway he once did, that his hold over the GOP voters is declining and that it is time to start to shift away from a candidate that will find it increasingly difficult to win the next election.
even if trump does hold some sway with GOP voters in 2026 (and I find that unlikely) it will have little or no effect on McConnell's re-election chances.
Like a bunch of spinning tops.
I'm afraid you are thinking too much in the vein of Trump on this one. It has nothing to do with McConnells reelection chances. He, if he decides to run, is a 100% shoe in. That is not what he is doing. This isn't some play based on his own reelection. Not only is he pretty much guaranteed, but its 4 years away so not even on the outside of an agenda.
So, he has nothing to lose but what is he trying to gain? For the easiest option is to say nothing. Something that most of them have been doing for months. This is a noticeable, and targeted, statement for McConnell.
you said it was a losing strategy. In order to be a losing strategy there has to be something to lose. what is it?
