You literally said:
They want an investigation with a payout at the end.
This is you right?
Pathetic but expected.
I wonder who founded it and have they links to FFG?
I always find it an odd thing when a brand new company gets a state contract.
The process for such tenders would be EU-wide and it's very transparent. It's not a government decision it's an Eirgrid one and one likely to be based on perceived ability to deliver. Main name is from up north and seems to be from finance. I have seen tenders where competitors form a new entity or an underbidder gets offered part of the contract by the winner.
When done properly.
Do you have proof that it's not or is it just an itch to scratch? This is the site that deals with all.
I'm not making any accusations.
Just noting the company being only 4 months old and getting a state contract. Its an improvement on a state owned company getting a state contract and then bought or which ever came first, investigation still underway.
Maybe they were made the preferred bidder based on their months of experience or took the right people out for dinner.
In any case not a win for the Greens. More data centers needing more energy resulting in 9 new gas powered generators and Ryan defending it.
I too find it odd, and doubt we are alone in that.
Maybe if the government didn't so often practice shady dealings and so much more, things like that wouldn't appear so odd.
Picking Tenders are based on a number of criteria such as company reputation, costing and expertise. How many projects would they have worked on in 4 months? Likely still ordering letterheads.
More worry for the government parties in the latest Sunday independent poll.
Mary Lou the clear preference by the public as their choice for taoiseach. A monumental day is on the arisen when we have our first female taoiseach in this country.
One major shock is that people prefer to have Simon Harris as minister of health. People have short memories. Building the most expensive hospital in the world will be his legacy in health.
Just to clarify on this one, it was an auction but any new plants intended to be built had to have applied for planning permission to enter the auction in the first place. Again like tenders, showing that they have an ability to deliver.
Might be like BAM , don't own so much as a claw hammer, everything subcontracted ,subcontracted again and everything hired or borrowed.
It's extremely common these days, there is plenty of money in project management!
But it slows things up, might be six degrees of separation between those who got the contract and those actually doing the contract.
I know but can be assembled quickly and if you get things right, not The Children's Hospital, it can be effective too.
There's roadworks outside Dungloe, BAM, the lack of progress is embarrassing.
Micky Martin on the news pushing the carbon tax ,saying it pays for retrofitting houses but ignoring the fact that those most likely affected by fuel poverty are unlikely to own where they live and therefore don't qualify, only way is to tie rent to energy rating,
True. They are well capable of such a process, but when it comes to building social housing we have government fanboys asking would the councilors be mixing cement? 😎
I am familiar with the process to some degree. Just pointing out that a brand new company getting such a big state contract is of note. In the past, the good ol' FF days, we had PO boxes in London getting state contracts.
There's an Udarus industrial estate in Donegal that every new tender has been won by the same company since 1972, might be coincidence
Some companies just get very good at doing them and pitching their price right. There is a bit of a consultant industry around preparing them. I know a number of small companies who will only bid on contracts over a certain level because of the effort involved in preparing them.
Don't disagree on the carbon tax but it is better to see it actually being used for its purpose. Not sure how that rent to energy rating thing could work, given that BER rates are effectively expert opinions. Also if you meddle too much with the rental market you could lose even more supply.
Given the complexity of the state procurement process, it is fairly common these days for a special purpose company to be set up to bid for very large contracts, especially when it is a number of companies working together to form a consortium. In that case, they are relying on the expertise of the owners for the reputation.
Of course, those who nothing about procurement are likely to opt for conspiracy theory stuff instead. Laughable when some claim familiarity with the process but are unaware of such arrangements.
Mickey on the radio talking about measures to help those affected by inflation.
Will no doubt only go to those on social welfare. Brilliant...And of course he then talks about the retrofitting scheme. Of course social housing gets 100% free.
The country is a joke, when are we taking to the streets?
I had to laugh at Virgin Media news at the weekend talking about inflation hitting the most vulnerable and they alluding to pensioners...
Pensioners are the most well off people in the whole country! They have no mortgage. They get free public transport. They get fuel allowance. They get 35 euro a month for their electricity or gas. They get a load of allowances depending in their circumstances...living alone allowance is another one.
Like....young people are paying extortionate rent AND have to pay the extra bills. Pensioners don't have to commute to work and put an extra 50 in the car than they normally would. Pensioners don't have to see their rent going up 4% this year. The pensioner on tv said she knew people who couldn't heat their homes and just sat on a bus all day. Well for some!
Seriously, a sole pensioner gets at least 250 a week during the winter with no mortgage or rent and bills cost less due to allowances (household benefits package, no tv licence etc.
50 odd years?
BAM are very quick to sue if they don't get the contract. Lots of councils etc are terrified not to award a contract to them. If something has to be done and BAM bid for it the choice is award it to BAM or have it delayed for 10+ years in the legal system.
They could keep the Carbon tax but drop VAT etc by more than the carbon tax to help save people some money. But the problem is the Greens are fanatics. They want to price us out of our cars and onto buses in the cities and bicycles in the countryside. They see suffering and pain as a necessary step the people must go through to be forced to become green. But interestingly I'm hearing very real anger out there about the tax. If they push ahead with it at a time when people are already crippled with the cost of living I think the government will fall because there is no way FG and FF backbenchers will want to crash their political careers into the ground just to make the Greens feel happy.
Nobody ever said that the transition to a carbon-free economy would be easy, except some of the loonies on the left.
Those who don't know how we hire companies to build things for us? Hmmmmm. You'd wonder why we aren't buying these plants. Be cheaper :)
Thanks to FF/FG we know its not always above board.
How do you feel about Ryan defending the need for 9 new gas powered plants with the usage of data centers?
Kinda makes him look like a faker, no?
