The key elements include six high speed charging hubs on motorways capable of charging eight vehicles simultaneously; 16 high speed charging hubs capable of charging four vehicles simultaneously; additional high power chargers at 34 current 50 kW locations; upgrading over 50 22 kW chargers to 50 kW, and replacing up to 264 locations with 528 charge points at the pre-existing pilot grade of 22 kW to next generation high reliability models.
I have a phev, convinced my mother and father to buy the same, we never had any problem, I knew there was a possibility of queuing, broken chargers and the knob in Waterford, so I decided to purchase a second phev and I will continue to do so until a car comes that does not require a network.
Complain all you like, get all the hubs you want but there will always be a problem of too many cars not enough chargers, I have seen ques on YouTube of tesla hubs in the US, Nyland saying a 30 minute wait is acceptable in Norway.
I prefer not to waste my time and yet a phev is described as a whore, compliance car, latest one was neither here or there car. I have ran out of sympathy, Phev's have been knocked down at every opportunity, going so far to offer a cheaper EV to potential buyers while ignoring the even cheaper model phev,
The one fun fact you might get a giggle out of is, my brother is after buying a ID4 against my advice and he turned the disadvantages into an advantage of avoiding visiting his mother in law.
Ecars are not the sole provider of chargers, maybe you can all set up your own company and start your own hubs with the added advantage of banning phevs.

As far as I'm concerned I think ESB should not install any more Chademo chargers. CCS is the standard and are are outselling Chademo by 5-1 (I think that was the figure last year).
We need more CCS chargers in better formats.
- 150KW for motorways/busy local routes between larger towns and cities.
- 50kw for towns in local car parks close to shops/restaurants. Ideally where people will stop for lunch etc.
-22kw/7kw charges at destination sites where people spend multiple hours or are staying overnight. Think shopping centres, local attractions (beaches, cinemas, parks, event centres, restaurants and pubs etc)

eCars have stopped installing dual AC 22kW chargers for their network, the only time they've installed new ones in the last couple of years is where Tesco paid for EV charging but were too cheap to do anything more than greenwashing.

I would prefer to see more AC and more chademo just for the cheap Japanese imports and I have no frustration at all.
Was down at Whitfield Waterford this morning, drove in around the famous Ecars charge point next door. A lot of ground works going on to left of charger from back of shop, the area all closed off.
Doubt it, but perhaps a hub going in? Or secret supercharging?😁
Was referring to replacing older 22kW AC units by installing replacement 22kW units. Should have made that clear this morning.
God that would be an epic spot for a little SuC of 2-4 stalls........ would be a bonus too if the guy was patrolling the site 24/7..

The Waterford location is installing an extra floor and a drive through for coffee, nothing on the planning permissions indicates changes to the EV charging onsite.

I know it's an older unit, but I really hope they stick it in somewhere useful... like the M1 at Castlebellingham, or another single unit site somewhere that desperately needs it!!
Why would you say it's gone for good? The site has building work and the planning permission show's that the EV spaces will still be there after the work is complete

Normally in those press releases though they say unavailable until further notice, or with an expected timeline..... but here, it's just 'no longer accessible' . who knows, maybe EasyGo will take the spot? of he'll simply install his own twin 7kW chargers....... (the longer the cars are there charging, the more they'll spend in his shop.......... would he his thinking I'm sure).
I'd say they're glad to be out of there to be honest.... just too much hassle from yer man. Hopefully they find another spot for it down there.

I think it is a separate matter. Removal of EV charger did not make the object of the planning application but the owner decided it is an opportunity mow when work it is happening. Maybe adding the drive through required him to increase the MIC who knows. I also think it is removed for good. So ecars -1 this year.
You'd be as well just putting a 150KW hub in the Harvey Norman car park.

You can pretty much remove any Applegreen site from future plans, apparently they are blocking third party installations due to a future desire to install their own. Gridserve in the UK had a similar issue upgrading Welcome Break sites, Applegreen bought Welcome Break a couple of years ago.
I have no issue with Applegreen installing their own chargers, but they need to start putting them on the ground.
well said - this is how I would use the public charging system (in terms of when to use 150kW / 50kW / 7kW charge points).
It needs it. It's a kip from what I seen of it last month. Worst services with Ev charging I've been at, though I've not been at very many.
I wonder is that the reason that the Tesla SuCs that were originally planned for the Enfield M4 Applegreens never went ahead?
Wasn't there something about they were denied access from off the tolled motorway, as others could then use it to skip the toll

The Enfield site although close to the motorway looks a bit of a pain really! It’ll catch out a lot of visiting Tesla drivers without tags and don’t know to get a receipt at the toll plaza…
Applegreen should poop or get off the pot! M4 Enfield services would be a good spot for at least 2 of those new eCars 200kW units (of course when a lot (a lot) of other sites/routes get upgrades first). They are sites where eCars already have a presence, so surely going from 2 to 4 spots would be easy enough!!
I mean the spots are already marked for 4 spaces!!!!! Just get another feckin unit in!!!! Same in Castlebellingham!!
