The new Jersey looks really impressive. The white collar makes it. Michael Hogan was a handsome man but im not sure I'd have him on the jersey for the whole year. It seems abit much.
I'd have to agree woth the last poster. You can't have guys in for half a season. It just wouldn't work especially if they were hurling up a storm in training and were good enough to start. The jury is firmly out on Bonnar. I dont rate him and find him inflexible in his gameplans.
Most courses in ul involve a 9month work placement so perhaps the boys are travelling to the states for that..
Conor Whelan transferring to Mullinahone. There was an agreement with Carrick Davins that he could play underage with Mullinahone. Apparently, Carrick didn't see this coming. I'm surprised they didn't. He has been playing underage with Mullinahone players and the bond will have obviously grown. Also, probably, the thing best thing for Whelan and his ambitions.
Strange one, why was he with mull in the first place? I'd imagine they could have a case.
I'd imagine it's something to do with Davin's grade/small pick and Whelan's intercounty ambitions. Davin's won a South Tipperary Under-21 B Hurling Championship in 2018. And the Minor C in 2012. Whelan got to play in a county final under 21 A final with Mull the other day...
Bonnar confirms that injury is the reason.

“I’ve been talking to John since December and he’s having trouble with his knee and we got it scanned.
“It just developed, he tried the knee again out in early January in a challenge match and it was a lot worse than he thought.'
The whole 'Bubbles ' saga rumbles on. Why wouldnt someone from the management come out initially and say 'by the way John O'Dwyer is not on the panel because hes injured'. But that didn't happen. Now a week or 2 later the manager comes out and says he would be on the panel but he's injured.
All I'm waiting for now is Bubblez to come out and say 'I'm actually Fit,Knee is grand'.
Ya it’s fairly embarrassing the way they’ve went about it. Needed to grow a pair and just say he isn’t in their 2022 plans instead of being soft about it.

A man who played through all types of injuries has retired due to a neck injury. He must step away from all contact sport.
Great player. He ll be a big loss because I thought he could play fullback for another 2 or 3 years.
Fantastic career..great under the high ball and very strong and for me one of the best passers of a ball to forwards ever. He hadn't great pace but his positioning was always top class and he was rarely rounded..Conor Legane a few times got him on the outside but no shame in that. Just a top class player and he's a good guard by all accounts...well liked by the working class community of Moyross where he's done alot of work.
There's a leadership role up for grabs in that Tipperary squad now. Hard to see them winning silverware in 2022 but youd never know.
I'd be genuinely shocked if we got out of Munster.
Speaking as a Wexfordman, I always thought Paudie was superb. Easily makes the best XV of my life (half-back line of Walsh-Maher-JJ). To have won All Stars at full,centre and wing back sums up his class. Some durability to have played every championship game since 2009 and it's very sad that he can't even finish out his career with his club.

I hope he gets a second and a third expert's opinion - just to leave no doubt whatsoever in his mind. To go without any kind of contact sport whatsoever in his life again - that's woeful for a man like that.

Greatest hurler i have seen in tipp jersey and up there with greatest i have seen in my lifetime of any county. Brady decided to retire with him. 2goats.
Incredible durability and a constant high standard of performance. Three or four years ago I feared his inability to turn was going to scupper him, but instead of that his performances and leadership increased.
He simply rose to every challenge that presented itself. Truly a leader, should have been hurler of the year in 2016, had big game changing moments in every match. In the 2019 final when we looked in trouble after 15 - 18 mins Paidi and Brendan led the charge to lift the siege and we never looked back. His ability to grab the high ball and step around the man were amazing.
Some very big boots to fill in the defence now, character and leadership needed more than ever.
as a limerick man I'll add my best wishes to him great hurler very durable I Don't normally do these tributes but know he's a guard here in limerick and we'll thought of too so best of luck in his retirement

I feel like Management really didn't prepare in advance for this period now of ageing player retirements anyway. The AI win 2 years ago should've been a finish for a few players but they've been kept on. Genuinely could see us going without a win in the Championship this year.
Brendan and Paudie maher both gone now, colm bonnars job was a hard enough task but you probably couldn't be losing two better hurlers in your first year managing the team.
Yeah but you cant blame that on Bonner.
Mixture of Sheedy not having faith and developing the young players and the players not taking the limited chances they got.
100% not blaming it on Bonnar - he came into a beaten team I think
The advancement of players has been handled very well. Good core group ready to take on the senior player tag - Forde, McCormack, Kennedy, Ronan Maher, Breen, John McGrath, Barry Heffernan, Barrett - all coming into their prime.
Nice younger group of players now too - that have been part of the senior squad for 2 to 3 years too and still in their early twenties and ready to shove on with proper S&C under their belts. Very well managed by successive managers. That's the key to having managers coming from the same core group - Sheedy, O'Shea, Mick Ryan, Dunne and so on.
Team for the weekend. Jake Morris did his hamstring playing for Maynooth tonight - can't see him starting unless it was just precaution. Thought he was limping though.

“It’s a hard step up to come from under 20/21 to senior, especially nowadays with the S&C that’s involved in getting your body right for inter-county hurling, it’s immense so it definitely is harder than some people think.
“I feel the couple of years I am after playing is after helping me a lot with a lot of learnings from it. There is definitely a big step up from under-20/21 to senior, which hasn’t been there in previous years, just with the level of S&C and looking after yourself and stuff like that. I definitely feel the last couple of years are after helping me bridge that gap and I feel a bit more ready at this level than I did before.”
Ronan Maher is the captain of the hurling side for 2022.
