Not worth the risk. The west is taking a slow methodical winning hearts and minds approach which it hopes in the long term will pay off. By offering people stability and principles, they want to differentiate themselves from totalitarian regimes. The long term strategy is very sound, however many mistakes have been made that we continue to suffer for.
Wow....a list of events by one country, apparently the rest of the globe and imperial adventures don't exist - all the more rotten by pointing to the 2000s and not even mentioning Iraq, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil, and on and on and on and on.. Wikileaks went right over this guy's head...
A similar letter was sent to the UN from Moscow siting the Illegal annexation of East Germany by West Germany 25 years previously ..
Hey Yurt have you been in touch with Tehran and Pyongyang to advise them to tell the US to stay out of their security arrangements given certainly in Iran's case the incursion of US special forces on their territory...just to be consistent like?
'Militarily neutral country' oh FFS...you're the gift that keeps giving.. 🤣
@MFPM posts such as this are off topic and contribute nothing to the discussion. If this is going to be the extent of your input to the thread I suggest you stop posting in it
So the arrogant, smug, and reckless foreign policy blunders of FFFG finally landing them in it.
By one administration, Putin's administration, in a thread titled "Russia". It's possible to criticise any administration directly based on it's actions. It's not a competition.
I know that and I agree, I've stated several times I'm no fan of Putin. But surely when the US is involved here and their hypocrisy on bullying countries is well established, it's fair enough to point it out?
That would play right into Putin's hands. Also it's unlikely Putin will invade, it's much more likely this is a escalation exercise to put pressure on Western nations/NATO in order to extract concessions and test solidarity. Putin has nothing to lose from an escalation, he can only gain from it, it's a no-brainer from his perspective. Whereas an actual invasion would be economic suicide for a country with the GDP on par with Italy and heavily reliant on European oil/gas customers.
You aren't comparing Russian history, just Putin's administration. So it's only logical to compare it to current administrations in other countries.
I've discussed this with derkaiser93 yesterday, it's not history is it. The Saudi's are literally bombing the sh!t out of Yemen last week, this week in a campaign part armed by the UK and part financed by the US, wheresthe outcry, where's the condemnation, where's the standing up for a small nation? What about the political and financial cover the US give the IDF in their battering of the Palestinians...these are current events..
It's a thread on Russia. If someone wants to discuss Yemen or separately Israel/Palestine I would suggest two separate threads for those (I'm sure some exist already)
I didn't know until today, but there are already 70 to 80 thousand US troops based in Europe. Poland being one of the countries, and Germany have about 35k. Not because of the current situation
Yes, but these 3'000 troops are coming from Fort Brag in the US, so will be additional to the 70-80000 already stationed in Europe, and presumably with the full consent and blessings of the host Country's ?.
I remember when it was 300,000 + US troops stationed in Europe
I watched Filatov on rte just now and was very impressed. He basically said there is no buildup - it is largely propaganda from Washington built on troops that have always been there EU and US leaders playing 'dangerous game', says Russian ambassador to Ireland (irishexaminer.com)
West has ‘invasion fantasy’ Russian ambassador tells Oireachtas committee (irishtimes.com)
Lol 😂 😂😂😂
Admittedly I don't know a lot about this but he maintains that the propaganda is constantly using one photo over and over again and no 'buildup' of forces are in evidence. One photo doesn't amount to an invasion force, right? Do you have evidence of a build up?
Your wasting your time here lad .....
Not if I learn something. But Russian tanks on Sky News don't amount to a buildup. As far as I know they could be just stock images. I don't see how he can deny a buildup if there is one because it would be very easy to show if there is. Do you have evidence of such?
And now the line is there's no buildup at all and the Putin cubscouts are repeating it.
Some people are absolute marks.
Well short of flying over..
That is not the view of the Pentagon
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, “continues to add forces, combined arms, offensive capabilities, even over just the last 24 hours he continues to add in western Russia and Belarus, and in the Mediterranean and the north Atlantic”, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby added. “He has shown no signs of being interested or willing to de-escalate the tensions.”
The situation is fragile and increasingly dangerous. Russia is practicing again it's same techniques it used before in Ukraine only on a much bigger scale, 'non-linear' warfare they call it. Explained in the first couple of minutes here.
When do you go to the front Komrade?
That letter was sent to a few other countries as well apparently. Still a bit unnerving tbh with Russian warships floating around off the south west.
Pity you have not seen the BBC news today...live and in full color, row after row of military huts, and lines of Tanks and other military equipment. But here's a link for you.

Very interesting, no snow cover (in most of those images) in Russia in mid winter.
This global warming must be more serious than we think.
