How do people in the country side find the HRV for outside smells. A lot of slurry spreading in our area. I hate to come home to the house full of the smell of slurry. Do the filters in the Sys clean the air when being drawn in from outside?

Our house is quite airtight (<1m3/hr/m2) and have had mvhr for 16+ years now and live in the country. We only really notice the slurry smell when we go outside typically.

That's good to know, neighbour is spreading slurry in the field beside where we are building today. My townie girl is nearly getting sick with the smell outside. Lol

It is the season for it alright. Note that the smell will be gone in a day or 2. Less if wind blows away from your house, or it's spread in misty conditions. Also, they'll be forced to use a LESS in the next year or two which will nearly eliminate all smells. I wouldn't go spending much money to try keep the smell out when it's for such a short duration typically.

Unfortunately for locals here, some farmers are zero grazing so cows full time in sheds, so more slurry to spread on a weekly basis come spring/summer time.

Wouldn't all be at the same time, or outside your house. As I say, the introduction of LESS should limit the smells by a huge factor. I'd think long and hard before spending money trying to keep a smell out. A simple opening of a door/window will let it in even with all the money spent.

Granted not all at the same time, but one will be as hes land is behind and beside us. But that the joys of country living.

My query was on the HRV as we will have one in the house on drawing in the fresh air from outside will the standard filter remove the odor from the air.

Maybe a carbon filter will be required to do this.
