They are not selling this in the UK, will they sell it here ?
From €17,890 in Europe ( assume it would qualify for the €5K EV grant here if it was sold here ? )
Its just hit Italian markets and is the forth best seller this month, apparently its price could be halved by Italian incentives according to this article:
https://cleantechnica.com/2021/07/29/italys-ev-sales-keep-growing-in-june-as-dacia-spring-hits-the-market/
So it seems it is going to come in here after all
There are a huge number of car owners in this country who never go over 100km/h, be they town/city dwellers, rural only drivers, old folk or used as second cars.
But agree, this car needs to come in at under 20k
For a 44hp 150km range Golf cart with a max speed of 120km/h?
Who's gonna buy that when you can get a lovely Fabia for the same price
Needs to be 15k for something like that
A proper car 5 years ago, Ioniq 28kWh was 22k
I admire your optimism, the VW E-Up is currently €27,850 after grants so Dacia just have to aim a few thousand lower and they've undercut the only competing EV in that segment
I would say €22,000 starting price for it here.
Well, considering the Jogger can be had for about 10k less in other markets in the EU then I would say you are not far off with your prediction. Mid €20k range for sure due to the "Treasure Ireland" effect and that would be the after grant price (which is now €3.5k, down from the €5k it was before July).
Should be take bets on Irish prices?
Remember the grant starts going down below €18k and doesn't apply below €14k
And apparently the new version will have a 27kWh battery
I'm gonna throw my hat in at €24k new, far higher than the EU price but that's never stopped someone profiteering before now 🙄
No that'd be the Tesla Model S, apparently it's impossible to make a €100k+ car into RHD but it can be done for a sub €20k one 😂
Ah. I must have read it wrong. Could have sworn it said it will not be offered in right hand drive only as a left hand drive on that exact article.
And Dacia Ireland say it is coming here too
This says the UK model will be RHD and be a refreshed model
So it looks like the Dacia Spring will be on sale in the UK from the Summer of 2024. Whether that means it will come here too or not I do not know.
The really annoying part is that it's based on a Renault K-ZE produced in India which is RHD already
If they do bring it here, it will probably be €25k after any grants and rebate but we are such a small market, I doubt they will do so though. Shame really, as I think that a small EV would do very well here.
Spring is produced in China and sold in Europe under Dacia brand. Since the launch, Spring was on top sales in France, Italy and Romania. They have orders from car sharing companies and simply can't produce enough cars LHD. They've increased the price from around 17k at launch to 22k with the optional DC charging. That is before incentives. If you count in the incentives in Romania they range from 10-12k or up to 6k and no road tax equivalent for 5 years in Italy and similar in France. As UK is out of EU which means different certification from ours, the RHD model would need to be certified for us, Cyprus and Malta (both non-existent EV markets). Absolutely no incentive. If they will do it will be to cover some green creds for Renault.
I’m in Bucharest at the moment. So a good few of them around
you can rent them like gocars https://espark.ro/en/
I didn’t think they had been launched yet, last i read UK was hoping to get them in last qtr of 2022
I mean I wouldn't buy anything other than a 5-star rated car on principle, but remember too that the EuroNCAP ratings have changed significantly over the years.
Lower and a narrower than the Fiat 500
Doesn't look that small but a small car all the same.
Was behind one yesterday, I didn’t realise that they were so small I expected them to be the same size as a duster. But my god my like a bambino
they have a really poor NCAP rating.

The Spring is my kind of electric vehicle - electric and won't break the bank. Why have Dacia/Renault decided not to make an RH version? Government always harping on about e-vehicles. Here is a cheap one, but doesn't seem to be coming to these shores. Are Dacia not receiving any encouragement from the government here and UK too?
Exactly the same as the original MG ZS, with the badge area lifting up in the same way.
We need these. Cheap a to b cars that people can consider.
Great little car. I hope they bring it here. Sell it for 15 or 16 thousand and it should do alright.
I miss nose charging.
The other car is an Aiways which really isn't a bad car but a bit expensive and slightly slow to charge
And the award for the most unergonomic charging position goes to Dacia.
what’s with the big flap that lifts up , why not flip down or across?
I was in Paris for the last 5 days and the amount of EV's over there is amazing, even the busses are either Hybrid or 100% electric. Charging points on every second street (lots iced unfortunately) but spotted a Dacia Spring charging beside another EV I've never heard of before. Smart looking little city car.
We have a Dacia sandero stepway petrol as a second car that the wife uses, its fairly new (201) (our main car we have gone full electric a couple of years now, never going back!), id have to disagree about them being horrible though!
I think we paid around 17k or less for it and we find it a great car, superb for the money. drives fine cheap to insure and tax, plenty of space inside, has air conditioning, cruise control, sat nav, android auto ect.., sometimes when im driving it i wondered why would anybody want more, its a great car for the money. definitely cant knock it for value, especially looking at the prices cars at the moment!, if they brought the ev version over here it would be a great little car, especially for a first ev :)
Its still a Dacia. There will always be a cheaper end of the market that will find them attractive but they are horrible
