So to recap; We have the PP
We have the AP
We have the GP
And now the new Zenith Defy
I wonder which other brand will jump on this current trend from the 1970's.
The Piaget Polo and VC Overseas can be added i guess, are IWC doing that kind of ingy at the moment?
There's a tissot waffle dial as well right? PRX 80 i think?
In my humble the VC and the AP get a pass. The AP for being the one that started this current trend and one of the nicest of the bunch and the VC because although it shares the DNA of the luxiry steel sports looks different in the hand. I mean the Bulgari Octo is a luxury steel sports job and a recent one, but different enough to stand out.
Though at least this current trend isn't brand specific. There's a few out there. Like when pilots watches were the thing for a brief time about 15 years ago. When Panerai were the flavour de jour it was essentially just them or homages.
VC abandoned the textured dial for the latest Gen of the overseas (Gen3). Gen 2 has the textured dial on most of the models.
A Lange jumped on the integrated sports watch trend a few years back, as did Lang and Heyne this year.
Where’s the best place to pick up one of the seagull Chinese watches ? One like below . I know there was a post on this before but I can’t find it . Or if anyone here has one to move on .
Couldn't find the thread but i remember https://www.poljot24.de/ mentioned for stocking them.
So I lost one of the pushers from this the other week. Had some from other cheap fakes in the drawer & had a go to see if the might fit. Of course not. However, the one that was the correct length is now held in place with blue tack. Not a fix for the purists I'm sure 🤔 . Have probably increased its water resistance now as well 😁😁. Going to wear it for work tonight & will report back later as to how it holds up.
Blutac, now there's watchmaking! 😁
Further on the new Zenith Defy..
Check out where it says Swiss Made....
It's not just this pic either. It seems one of their press kit examples wasn't quite checked enough. I mean how does that even happen in the printing?
Lets just say MacGyver was a big influence on me growing up
That's a funny fault. If Zenith weren't Swiss it could be classified as some sort of dig. What with 'Adé' being a German form of 'bye-bye'.
that disappoints me, similar issue when the chronomaster sport was released, can you see it, doesnt fill you with confidence on QC.
I'm probably going to get this wrong. 😁
The C in second on the bezel thingie is rough and the chronograph hand is slightly off true. The bracelet to case gap isn't exactly toight either.
nope nothing that subtle, look at the 4 marker!
I think Zenith first screwed the pooch a few years ago now when in the middle of a year without new models they overnight upped their prices and by a fair bit. All the 'luxury' Swiss brands have increased their prices, but they did it steadily over time, slowly enough to not put off the consumer base. Zenith did it too openly and quickly.
Their other problem is that their deep history is very much of the early part of the 20th century and post WW2 they were pretty invisible with very few known models to reference for marketing. The Defy was one. They had chronograph history too, but again couldn't capitalise on it. When they 'did a Longines' with their Zenith Extra Specials they made them too blood big just as too bloody big was going out of fashion. If Longines did the same with their version of the 1930's Pilot pattern they'd make it look the same, not far off the same size and add a date.
I stared and stared and was wondering WTF is Cy on about.😁 And then it hit me. 😲 Hoooooly feck. T'is backwards! And the C in second is fecked and the chrono hand doesn't line up. How much is that watch? Not cheap I'd imagine.
10k and that was the press release model 🤨
Ten grand? Ah jaysus. I'd not be a happy camper with that. If I was looking at it in a shop up close I'd reckon it was used or something was up. The fecked text in the bezel but especially the chrono hand. If I then spotted the four marker...
I wonder are they being faked in finest chinesium? I might have a look and see if the dodgy ones have better finishing. 😁 That's really bad if it's the press example. Press examples of anything are usually tweaked to be the best. If they look that shoddy with the press one...
It's a fun game though, spot the QA issues.
Caribbean. If only they had.a spell checker.
On the Zenith, that's actually shocking. For a press release of a 10k watch you'd think someone is in trouble.
If that was seen on a press release of a 300 quid Seiko it would be very bad and there'd be scenes of hari kari in the boardroom. For 10k it's baffling that it wasn't spotted by the people working in Zenith.
When you send the sad letter about the restructure, before they have finished the current job.
The hara-kiri must have gone out of fashion in Japan otherwise the entire Toyota top would have gutted themselves by now. Self charging hybrids, hydrogen cars, LOL 🤣
Show though how quickly they are trying to get watches out there to feed the hunger. Its not a bad looking watch at all bar the QC issues.
Almost wonder if they do it intentionally it happens so often on press release models.
Errors on Rolex dials have been infamous on occasions and cost a fortune to buy.
That's what I was thinking as well.
Borrowed the wife's ultrasonic cleaner today and gave my Seamster and Pro-master bracelets a blitz. Threw in the wedding ring too for good measure 😉
I'm always surprised by just how much mank comes out when you use an Ultrasonic bath.
Utterly manky but no it's time to but those 2 back on metal 😁
I've been meaning to get one of them forever, god knows what would come off some of the vintage watches in my collection 😬
