Amnesty international and Human Rights watch would say different.
Brought to you by FF and FG.
The simple fact is that Ireland consistently ranks among the top countries in the world for economic fairness, civil liberty, educational achievement and quality of life for its people.
Despite some bad days along the way 100% of that progress was delivered by either FG led or FF led governments- by definition 100%. Its a great country that has onnthe whole been very well served by its democratically elected governments.
Michael Martins quiet, steady and calm style during the pandemic is the latest example. He has done a great job despite a hysterical opposition and some donkeys sitting behind him.
As much as I dislike FF, it is difficult to argue with that.
Moving forward, the big challenge is climate change and our zero carbon objectives, the Greens need to be in government for that. So long as they are with FF or FG, the possiblities are good that we can meet those objectives.
We've yet to investigate the claims of torture at the hands of the Garda regarding the Sallins robbery investigation. Also I've a feeling they didn't include the mass baby grave and record of women in the mother and baby homes.
The state (FF/FG) have a record for covering up and avoiding investigating such things.
Still doesn't deflect from what Amnesty and others think about the SCC.
The involvement of the then FG/Labour government in the Dublin/Monaghan bombings is something that needs investigation,
The SCC was established to deal with the crimes of subversive organisations against the state and its citizens.
Amnesty's contention that it should be abolished was first published in 1999, when it said that the court should be stood down in light of the declining paramilitary threat to the state.
However, as late as December 2021 we were reminded that "they haven't gone away".
Allied to the live threat of dissident organisations and criminal gangs, Amnesty's conditional objection can wait.
Are you alleging that the government were directly complict in carrying out the bombing of Dublin and Monaghan? That is interesting.
I see the lies and BS has come back from the media.
Headline tells us Leo said muzzle.
When you read the link it says sources have said….
Bring COVID back please.
It hasn't gone away you know.
Is this Varadkar story really that unbelievable? Considering all he has said, quoted and done over the years? It's actually quite tame compared to him wanting the creation of social media bots to talk up FG.
Did you read the article? He is asking the partys TDs and Senators to ensure they are using their full speaking time allocation in both houses, following instances where time is being lost. I don't see what's the issue there, seems like a pretty standard request to make of a party?
You've a feeling?
Sorry, I don't think I will take a feeling of an anonymous internet poster over the findings of international respected bodies in respect of where Ireland stands in the world.
The evidence remains clear - Ireland is one of the best places to live on the planet, for everyone here. How we can make it better is for discussion, but moaning and whining that the place is a disaster is just a false narrative based on lies.
I love how Coveney is trying to distract people from his own woes and breaches by taking on the Russians! So transparent.
Genuinely can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not.
I did. The poster seemed to think it wasn't a likely story. Hence my response. You'll note I wasn't critical of the article content.
Yes because of the items I pointed out I would question their process if they had.
FYI: its a discussion forum for anonymous internet posters.
You cool with mass baby graves and alledged Garda torture not being investigated?
Amnesty has become a joke in Ireland since O' Gorman started using it as his personal fiefdom.
A fantastic new legislation put foward today for employees sorry I mean employers rights lol
Back to the long commutes to the office you peasants !
Fear not, the employer has to hear you out before saying no.
No recourse for the worker.

Looks like there will be a pretty significant fiscal space to play around with in Budget 2023 later this year. The main concern is that they could overdo it and overheat the economy just because the money is there to use.

That's inaccurate. Any decision made can be brought to the WRC.
Its a when, rather than if, they open the purse strings and try buy votes. Though they may wait til closer to an election to go bonkers (and if the past is an indicator FG will aim it at people who won't vote for them anyhow)
€100 then the €1000. Garda looking for that now.
MM called out on still using bad housing policy and he gets personal rather than answering with anything solid. Sounds familiar.
The purse strings are already open for the huge problem of housing and they definitely want to see some good progress on that before election time. Apart from being essential, it's a good target that could see SF back on the shouting benches for the foreseeable future.
Martin torn to shreds by Mcdonald today in the Dail.
Everyone and the dog on the streets know renting and housing is the biggest issue in Ireland and has been for sometime.
The government being blind to this will see finally a SF government.
They aren't blind, their pals are making too much money off the crisis they help to create. No point being in government if you can't look after your own.
Funny, that doesn't seem to have made breaking news yet.
CAMHs fuk up is the main story, have to start prosecuting members of the HSE, every week its a new fuk up and there's no repercussions for those involved
