Yeah I laughed when I saw the news of Djokovic. Not often ScoMo talks sense but he did on this occasion.
I was thinking that yeah. People in such a situation now may just not get tested if their symptoms are mild. No diagnosis, no potential legal issues.
The only reason to put on a pair of skis is to go downhill, fast, to get to the bar at the bottom for beer/schnapps/etc. Repeat as often as you like. Cross-country, are you insane?
Nah. I'm a novice, I appreciate having intact knee ligaments, cross-country is cheaper, and I can do it with our dog in tow. It's also better cardio from what I've been told. Fondue, raclette and alcoholic beverages are still included :)
Intact knee ligaments are overrated...
I've been a few times. Really enjoyed it in Lapland, though less keen when I've tried it in Switz.
My mate recently did his ACL skiing and the doctor he saw in the local hospital told him that he sees about 2000 ACL ruptures a year.
When I was a kid we went on our first big family holiday skiing... The auld lady did both of her ACLs at the same time....
jesus, doing both sounds like no fun. I don't even know how you manage that...
I did mine skiing 3 years ago. a few months of rehab and it doesn't really impact me at all. I'm a more nervous skier though for sure.
Yeah I'm only having a laugh, I do love downhill skiing though. And apres ski. Never had a bad injury which is incredible given the alcohol consumption on some ski trips I've been on. Going off piste after a few beers and getting lost as darkness fell, that was fun 😲
It’s a saga like this that reminds me why I was lucky to be born on the right side of the ditch. I’m by no means anti-vaccination but what a shît show with the Australian government and Djokovic. Pure politics.
Definitely noticing an increase in anti-vaccination attitudes - I think the booster was a bridge too far for some.
Getting my two kids done this week without hesitation. Potential impact of Covid far worse than side effects of the vaccine - even if both unlikely for that age group.
The Australian policies and attitude are ridiculous and I'll never support their general immigration policies and how they treat people.
But the Djokovic situation is objectively funny so it balances out.
Nigel Farage inserting himself into the story to campaign for an Eastern European national combatting another countries border control is the irony of irony's. Andy Murray fairly nailed him on it:
Finished Mayor of Kingstown last night, I quite enjoyed it even though it doesn't seem to have gotten great reviews. Final season of the Expanse is solid but I still feel that the show has never quite replicated season 1 - 3 with the exception of parts of season 5.
I watched Invasion but didn't particularly liked it and struggled (or as I call it - fast forwarded) through parts of it. The Canal+ War of the Worlds with Gabriel Byrne by comparison is a much better show.
The Boba Fett show seems very poor.
Tried to get into Succession. Will... try again...
Yeah, longer term Covid isn't going anywhere and most people will contract it. Revaccinating regularly won't be something most otherwise healthy younger people will do or need to do. But if it continues to come in waves that affect hospitals, schools and health care services, then boosters a go go. We should get a flu shot every year and a tetanus shot every few years, but most people don't.
Yeah watched 1 episode of Boba Fett and just kept thinking "cook the man some eggs".
A show that's great for the kids...but also highly addictive for their parents...is Tiny World on Apple TV. Helps that it's with Dolby Vision and Atmos, but seriously well done.
The Tragedy of Macbeth is out this week. Along with Romeo & Juliet, these were the 2 Shakespeare plays I landed at high school, this version by the Coen brothers has got very good reviews, so I'm hopeful.
I was confused for a minute thinking you meant Mare of Easttown. Kind of weird to have two such similar named series come out around the same time.
Episode 2 of Bobs Fett is def better than episode 1. I found the first episode a bit of a let down.
They should have released 2 episodes as the debut for Boba Fett. I liked both but the second much better.
Is it just me or is tonight's nphet announcement huge. It seems like the closest we've had to normal in 2 years
Not just you. Exciting times
Had thought the whole Ukraine situation was sabre rattling that would come to nothing but beginning to wonder will there be an actual conflict now.
i wouldn’t be surprised if Russia invaded. I would be surprised if Europe did much more than sanctions. Which never seem to achieve anything. Don’t see Europeans supporting their sons (and occasionally daughters) dying on Ukrainian soil to fight Russia.
They struggled to get as far as sanctions after the last Russian invasion of Ukraine...
The German reluctance to even allow arms to be sold to Ukraine is disquieting though. I get that they have a unique take on conflict in Europe, but pretending conflict doesn't exist doesn't strike me as a way to avoid it.
You would think their own history would teach them something about that approach.
I don't know if it is related to Nord Stream but it's probably related to Nord Stream
Has to be. Germans would surely know how effective appeasement is.
I've seen plenty of comment from people who should know what they are on about that it has more to do with a German squeamishness towards being antagonistic towards Russians given their history. So more psychological then pragmatic.
I personally think Coen’s MacBeth on Apple is a stunning movie. Watched it twice, the second time with subtitles so as to not miss a word. The cinematography is outstanding. I did this at school (along with Romeo & Juliet), wish the film had existed then!
Just getting over a bout of covid. Nasty **** virus.
Did it hit you hard even with the vaccine?
