He invaded all of Ukraine? News to me.
That's about the response I was expecting alright. I must get in touch with some historians that Germany never invaded Russia back in the 40's because they didn't "invade all of it". The state of that response!
So Russia invaded Ukraine and Obama didn't do anything? Maybe Obama is the Putin puppet so!
He invaded the country of Ukraine yes. Just like in WW2 when Germany and the Soviet Union invaded the country of Poland despite only technically invading the western and eastern parts respectively.
Trump was no such thing. He carried on bombing away and expanded the drone war exponentially.
And he, eh, assassinated General Soleimani.
So we're agreed, they invaded when they wanted to regardless of who was president. I'm glad we got that ironed out.
And sure neither Nazi Germany nor Soviet Russia invaded Poland in 1939, because neither of them invaded all of it. 🤣
Remember all the talk of Trump starting WW3 when that happened? 🤣🤣🤣
How did that one turn out again?
In fact the ground in the area is not frozen solid as it has been unseasonably warm there.
Most strategic analysts were saying that Putin would need to wait until January at least before launching a ground assault, as this would be when the ground could be guaranteed to be frozen. This has not happened, further complicating things for Vlad. Oh dear, how sad, never mind.
If Biden gets the US into a war and soldiers are brought back in coffins again, then Joe might aswell just vacate the White House right away and let Donald back in.
Biden is a war hawk and he's filled his team with war hawks.
The idea that the Russian army can't move over muddy ground is laughable. Classic internet general stuff.
So today in the North Sea we have RAF cobras, typhoons and hawks and a USAF plane flying over from Washington, destination unknown.
I don't think they're saying that the Russian army can't move over muddy ground. They're saying that the lack of frozen ground could complicate matters.
I’m just keeping track of the visible activity as it’s interesting. All’s fair in love and war as they say. Plus, I’m trying to find that mustang again to prove to MM that it exists.
Things are escalating quickly!
Fishermen plan to disrupt Russian military exercise

cos like it or not he wouldn’t have been able to just saunter in without resistance. Not with Trump or anyone else.
Maybe they're confusing the flat steppe farmland of eastern Ukraine with Siberian bog? From google street view, it doesn't look like land that will deteriorate too badly in a non-frozen winter. If only there was someone on this thread with more knowledge of moving armour around terrain who could put us straight 🙂
I remember the weeks leading up to the Iraq War in 2003 and every weekend in major citites in Europe there were hundreds of thousands of people marching and protesting against the war. It's curious how this thing seems to be building up in the exact same way and there's pretty much crickets in terms of protests. I know there are differences but I would be curious to know how people who were willing to give up their free time to protest then could explain why they wouldn't do the same now.
Maybe they seen how utterly useless it all was after the war went ahead anyway.
Because back in 2003 the US was the aggressor, this time around it's Russia being aggressive. Also, everyone knows that Putin doesn't care about protests in his own country never mind anywhere else so what would the point be? I mean, they were pointless back in 2003 aswell but that's by the by.
Interesting questions and might I suggest 2 possible reasons.
Remember America and NATO regularly had issues when driving off road with armoured vehicles in Afghanistan 10+ ton vehicles in soft group can easily sink or get bogged ,an empty field isn't a pretty site when you try to run hundreds of heavy vehicles and infantry through it ,
Manic Moran should be able to shed more light on it
He’s gonna be busy answering questions 😂 @Manic Moran i knew it said mustang but I think it’s a hawk.
I’ll stop spamming the thread now 😂
Mustang is a RAF Valley Hawk callsign
So I was right even though I was wrong 😉
G’wan the fishermen!!!
Good to see the fishing wing of the Irish Navy being mobilised.
I actually took part in those protests. There are differences. In this scenario, there is really only one country, Russia, who are the perpetrators of this escalation, and as we know, protests are difficult there. Outside protests would probably seem a bit redundant as most countries are openly opposed to this.
Iraq war was a bit different, several key countries were pushing for it, and their traditional allies were held in the lurch, so protests in these countries were common. These were democratic countries, largely free press, so again protests can have impact. The whole thing was seen as the "good guys doing something bad", and nothing motivates people like hypocrisy.
Basically if North Korea or Russia threatens war somewhere, there is little or no point protesting it, and most people know this.
I get the feeling the Russians will sail through any fishing boats get in their way
I was a student during the Iraq war and I remember at the time thinking that it couldn't possibly happen since it made absolutely no sense given all the weapons of mass destruction nonsense that the Americans were spinning. It just seemed like an ignorant knee-jerk reaction to 9/11 which they might actually get away with since most Americans didn't realise the difference between Iraq and Al-Qaeda. When they ended up invading I was livid. I didn't protest as I recognised the futility of that action although I empathised with the frustration of the protesters.
I think there is one major difference between this situation and that one. The potential invaders, Russia, are a country with which Ireland has little or no cultural or historical links. If the 2003 protests were futile, these would be a million times more so. Another one is that the Americans were (and still are) using Shannon for their stopovers so that made us complicit in some small way in their act of aggression. We have no such link to Russia.
