New Vegan Options ALDI

Hi Everyone,

I've noticed more vegan options in Aldi lately but mixed in with non vegan so not always easy to spot!

Plant Menu Cheddar Cheese - block and grated. I've tried the block and it's the best tasting vegan cheese I've had! Coconut oil based so I presume not too unhealthy either.

Plant Menu No Pork Streaky Bacon Rashers - This is very similar to the Finnebrougue Naked Without the Oink Rashers, in similar packaging so I presume made by them for Aldi.

Denny Vegan Sausages - now stocked in my local Aldi - hopefully permanent and not just a special!

Has anyone else spotted new vegan options mixed in alongside non vegan products?

I don't think it's a great idea. I never look in the meat fridges because I don't like looking at meat. I've picked up the odd thing in the salmonella corner alright.

Saw chilled 'Chicken' Tikka strips and 'Beef' Teriyaki strips, which I hadn't seen before in my local, yesterday - didn't try them though - be interested in any reviews..

The new Plant Menu chicken burgery things are amazing, as are there fake beef style burgers, seems to be a new recipe. Will look out for the other ingredients above.

I tried the 'Beef' Teriyaki strips and they are not bad in an stir fry, I'd probably buy them again. They are not meaty meaty, which I do appreciate but still have a good consistent texture. I kinda wish they had made the Chicken without flavour, as I am not too much into Tikka but hopefully someone else can say how is it.

About the cheeses, I find that they are always very fatty/oily based and I do not quite like that idea.

Have you been finding the tofu in your local shops? It has not been in mine for quite some time now.

I haven't noticed it in mine, but I've never knowingly eaten Tofu, despite not being a meat eater for nearly 30 years - I'm odd like that - I just get it into my head that I don't like something, despite never trying it!!

Lots in Lidl and SuperValu. Not been in Aldi this week but they usually have it.

Just tried the new Plant Menu mature cheddar from Aldi, it comes in a block or grated but got the block, it's really good, would pass for the real deal, best one I've had so far by a country mile.

I do get it, I was eating tofu way before I left eating animals so what can I say!

By the way, just yesterday I was in Aldi and they had the full range including the tofu and marinated tofu which I have not tried yet.

It's great that they have new products but my issue is that it is always at the expense of their other vegan products...for example they stopped stocking the ultimate no beef burgers and the fake chicken burgers heading into BBQ season to make room for the new products...makes no sense to me and they seemed like good sellers in my local store. Probably the same happened to the no cheese bakes!!

Yeah Aldi very hit and miss. Mostly miss for me at the moment. They get you buying the product then a few weeks later its nowhere to be found.

I'd hammer a few of those vegan chocolate bars... so much cheaper than the branded stuff.

They are OK, no salt and vinegar taste at all as far as I could tell. I drowned mine in vinegar.

Not the best though.

Not seen the cheese since it was originally stocked.. Is it gone for all Aldis, I did find it one of the best.

The hotdogs aren't bad at all. The chicken balls are also nice but there aren't many in the pack.

Was looking at the hot dogs and battered sausages and koftas but they hadn't priced them up yet so I decided to wait.

I'm looking forward to the battered sausages if they are anyway reasonably priced. The battered fish is lovely.
