the party members know who the army council members are i would highly suspect.
yes absolutely sf is democratic.
anyone who has been engaging in bullying in the party should be thrown out, bullying has no place.
you seriously think all sf party members know who the members of the army council are ?
not sure if you under stand the meaning of the word democratic there or if your some sort of parody account but secret army councils controlling political party's is not democratic and to claim it is makes you look quite silly tbh 😏
as far as i know member of sf has ever been taken to task for bullying , even after so many fled the organization over it. doesn't bother you at all i guess ?
the army council is not secret, the party members likely know who they are.
army council as i said is just another form of branding of the governing committee, calling it the army council is a way of showing party members that the governing body is robust.
lol now your saying that sf rebranded the ira army council to keep its members in fear of its top table ?
but you still cant name one of them. ive given you links galore and your still playing this pretend game ,
sure i ll let the mods deal with ya
How can you call it an ‘’army council’’ when no army exists, the IRA was disbanded in 2005.
The IRA never said all of their members were going to disappear off the face of the earth, they said they were going to pursue their goals through peaceful means which they have done, so what is your problem?
also funny how you always go on about going to the mods when the mods have banned you on this thread more than anyone else for your use of innocent victims for political gain.
easy there harry the thin air must be thin in the jet tonight 😄😄😄
another poster is he one who insists that the army council exits , and gerry adam still insists that they haven't gone away.
not too peaceful beating people to death is it smuggling reading their terrorism skills with FARC etc ? , just bully boys and criminal scumbags hiding behind politics really isnt it harry ?
you an issue with the mods you should talk to them not me,
what political gain do you think im looking for here ? it seems terrorist and criminal dont like being called terrorist and criminals when they pretend to be something else . dirty isnt it harry
Absolutely no comparison. Didn't our hero Michael Collins and chums murder members of the RIC? That would be a better comparison surely? The IRA fought for equality and recognition. There's another party with roots that have more connection to Hitler ffs.
Also with the 'heavy gang' and the like we don't know the depths of such behaviour within the Garda at certain points.
Heavy Gang
The moniker was applied to a group of Garda members who were alleged to have assaulted and threatened suspects and used other forms of pressure on them during the 1970s.
Allegations of coercion littered murder trials, with lengthy legal argument taking place regularly about the admissibility of evidence.
At the time, especially with the Troubles worsening in the North, some gardaí believed they had licence to extract confessions by force. And because forensics were only in their infancy, confessions were heavily relied upon.
A 1977 Amnesty International report alleging ill-treatment of prisoners by gardaí looked at 28 cases involving such allegations while in police custody. They were backed up medical and other evidence.
It found the names of certain Garda members appeared repeatedly in cases where they were dispatched from Dublin to serious crime investigations nationwide and where confessions were then secured.
Law and order party indeed.
Mary Lou McDonald's call today for a covid public inquiry has sunk like a heifer in a bog.
Her €200-a-head pitch to frontline workers also seemed a bit, well, underwhelming. SF backed the secondary school 'union' call for a giveaway leaving cert, which was a misstep. She also wants to take on the Russian airforce. Hmmm...
Expect a lot of renewed talk about housing and the 'upcoming NI elections this week (is there ever a time when there isn't an upcoming election in NI?). A two trick pony.
Well considering the Pandemic is deemed over perhaps it is time to get back to the real issues concerning people ie housing and health.
A lot done, more to do. Now you get it.
I think people have had a little bit more on their mind over the last two years than housing or health. Surviving the pandemic has been most important and fear of having the same terrible death rate as the part of Ireland run by Sinn Fein has been part of that.
Aye. Gimme gimme gimme. A 4 bed house, down the road from mammy and room for a trampoline……
Getting back on the topic of Sinn Fein and away from the housing whataboutery, this is a very interesting article.
"RELATIVES of Jean McConville are launching a fundraiser to help them sue Sinn Fein.
Helen McKendry intends to bring a High Court action against the republican party over her mother’s abduction and murder at the hands of the IRA in 1972."
"The IRA did not admit responsibility for Ms McConville’s murder until 1999, putting about a sick rumour that she had run off and abandoned her children."
"“I drove away Jean McConville. I don’t know who gave the instructions to execute her,” she said.
“She got into my car and as far as she was concerned, she was being taken away by the Legion of Mary to a place of safety.
“It wasn’t my decision to disappear her, thank God. All I had to do was drive her from Belfast to Dundalk. I even got her fish and chips and cigarettes before I left her.”"
This was one of the more sickening episodes of the terrorist campaign by the PIRA, supported by Sinn Fein all the way.
Great insight. You happy with things as they are? You prefer handing out luxury apartments?
Should the Belfast Telegraph apologise to that woman's family? You have some twisted notion that someone who defends women, promotes their rights, supports their causes is somehow exploiting women. It is a very strange view of the world, and I am struggling how to label it.
You believe that everyone should keep quiet about the wrongs done to this woman. Her family are hoping to sue Sinn Fein to vindicate her rights, supporting them and promoting her cause is the absolute correct thing to do for anyone with decency.
MLD gave a good go at in the Dail about the mistreatment of women.
Perhaps she should get her own house in order first?
The way that party have treated Mairia Cahill is nothing short of a complete disgrace.
That they then pretend to be supportive of women is just sheer utter hypocrisy.
SF bingo going well.
Paul Quinn for a full house.
Criminals do hate to be reminded of their crimes
they would rather everyone just forgot about it and didn't notice all that blood on their hands , after all at this stage they will never give back the bodies
I find the repetition boring is all. Should be renamed the jean McConville Maria Cahill thread. Enjoy the echo chamber lads.
me too , some many questions ignored deflected and avoided again and again but sure what ever the army council says goes eh 😏😏
As Delores would say, 'in your head they are fighting'.
Be sure and alert key holders.
A real distress for those involved. However, it's 0.15% of the population, not a runaway crisis as depicted by the hyperbolic faux outrage of populist politicians, and self serving career NGO reps. Half of the 0.15% will always be homeless anyway, yes I am blaming the "victims".
So we've collateral damage for the price of doing hedge fund business. Was a time the welfare of society was paramount.
Poster was lamenting people getting houses. We are giving leased luxury apartments in lieu.
Back to 'there is no crisis'. We really are back to (ab)normal.
When was the time when the welfare of society was paramount? Be specific with years now.
How do you think SF will fix this "homeless crisis"? Do you agree with mixed developments where a portion is given to social housing or do you think we should build 100% social housing developments?
I see on the website the policy seems to be:
https://www.sinnfein.ie/contents/55773
Over the lifetime of a government we would:
Deliver 100,000 public homes on public land; including 60,000 social homes, 30,000 affordable purchase homes and 10,000 affordable rental homes
Affordable purchase homes would be available at, and below €250,000
Affordable rental homes would be available at, and below €900 per month
Eligibility for affordable housing would be set at €50,000 for a single person and €75,000 for a couple.
So 60% go towards social and only 30% for affordable. Why such an imbalance towards social when they are in the minority?
How do these measures actually help any mid income earners? Also who will build these developments? Private or public sector?
Odd considering your posts in the Leo thread.... but funny as well.
Any comment on the accusations from Maria Cahill?
You don't find MLD to be a hypocrite?
From the 1930s up to about the 1980s. Back when housing was about building social and not being customers for cuckoo funds.
No party can fix decades of crisis in one term. I'll be happy if any party turns it around. I think SF have the right direction in mind.
Same people built the apartments we lease. Wasn't civil servants rolled up their sleeves and built prior social housing estates or laid tarmac.
No idea of your angle there.
I don't pay much heed to it tbh. If the authorities have the info I'm sure they'll pursue it.
No. MLMD can have an opinion just like you or I.
Ah that old fallacy, of going back in time and talking about the 30's and the 50's in terms of housing...
Are you going to also say that LA's should become builders? Because it's 'cheaper'?
