Yes, Neil Prendeville of Red Fm, formerly Cork 96Fm, whipped it out on a flight some years ago, said he couldn’t remember what he was doing.!
How on earth did he get away with that? Not just the actual incident on the plane, but also the complete absence of any non-judicial sanction?
He made a very "skilful" apology.
Also, people are idiots, and allowed him to.
96FM, despite having a facebook page run by morons, came up with a genius slogan after he deserted them for Red.
Something along the lines of "don't touch the knob".
Priceless!
Well, that can happen when you're engrossed in something!
I believe he used the old alcohol and strong pain medication “excuse”.
The same one that business man who, on a work trip in Africa, kept trying to get at a company secretary, while completely, naked used.
He ended up getting awarded one of the largest payouts in the state’s history. Came down a fair bit after an appeal.
I’ve obviously led a sheltered life!
The BO'C show is beginning to look positively benign in light of all this.
He may not have remembered but most of the nation do 😏
Have to say I was shocked he was still on air after that "Little" episode 😏
He was off air for a few months from what I remember. Never liked him, not one person I know who's met him has a good word to say about him, jumped up Corkonian Alan Partridge with a major case of small man syndrome.
Reporting from the actual incident suggests he's every reason to be suffering from "Small Man Syndrome" 😁
Pounding the same path, over and over.
A panel of Holohan zealots inc the host. RTE won't ever change.
I've tried to get used to the interviewing style of mine host, but I simply can't. So I'm giving up on the Weekend on One.
The GP did not like O’Connor suggesting (accurately) she had made a lot of money through vaccine administration during Covid. Was the highlight of the short section I listened to.
Damn, missed that, will have to listen back 😏
I feel another sermon from Olivia o Liary is on its way next week on drivetime
I thought Rosaleen Linehan was a tonic.
Enjoyed her contribution.
It was disappointing that the GPs defensiveness was allowed to shut that conversation down
What was she in about, and what sort of time was she on, can you remember?
I'm so sick of all this covid talk - I'm nearly afraid to turn the radio on at all these days. We've transferred seamlessly from one covid conversation (this/next wave) to just a different one (relaxing restrictions).
All I crave is a day of normal radio, where covid is not mentioned. Is that too much to ask??
Actually the theme was Emerging from Covid 19 but don't be deterred.
Heard that. Bit of a grovelling apology and then cut to an ad break to smooth the ruffled feathers.
That's pretty much how it went. He does drop a nice clanger every now and then. The best one was talking to RTE's Damien O'Reilly (the agricultural lad) in Tokyo. "Well Damien, how's the junket going?". A laser wouldn't have cut through the atmosphere after that.
Tis only the remnants of that "ballsy" guy of old breaking through, thoughts such as those will all be washed out after a few years seeping through the montrosian filtration system leaving nothing but a bland robotlike husk like the rest of them afraid of their life to offend anyone or anything lest the gravy train come to an abrupt halt
Absolutely - this nickname 'Ballsy' needs to be knocked on the head PDQ. Brendan's nuts now permanently reside at the back of his sock drawer.
He was never “Ballsey” he was just a potential Luvvie waiting for the opportunity!
BOC is just one radio host who is going to have to put some serious thought into new subject matter for their shows, once Covid is no longer a talking point.
It was perfect filler for many for the guts of 2yrs.
And the rest, “COVID Byrne” will find herself without a job in the next few weeks
Haha, you think so?
You'd swear they had total editorial control over what they do on their shows. I'm sure they have some input, but they're presenters at the end of the day.
I'd have paid good money over the last year for a radio show/station that kept me up to date with current affairs without ever mentioning Covid - I'm hoping Brendan/Claire/Drivetime/Pat Kenny - the whole lot of them, and I haven't tuned in to any of them in months at this stage - can just give it a rest for a while now (if the producers/editors will let them).
Give us a break!
They can always fall back on homelessness. That was their go-to topic before Covid arrived.
