Maybe the North is like here used to be. No real deals on beers to be had through January and February but should see starting around the bank holidays in March and April.
January was always a lean month here pre MUP, was always worth stocking up in December
I was in Portadown and Craigavon yesterday and went into Asda, Sainsbury and Tesco. Just starting to notice drops in their prices after the our MUP Day increases. Best value appears to be the own brand spirits. Please dont compare with top brands. They all sell 1.5 litre bottles of whiskey, gin, spiced rum and vodka. Prices are £22.40 - £23.85. That works out at just under 18 euro a litre and if its got their name on it it will not be terrible. Sainsbury in Craigavon selling unleaded petrol at £1.37 equal to about 1.64 euro, that will help.
This might be store specific or more widely available.
Dunnes.
Jack Daniels 200 ml (naggins) €7.
A 700ml bottle is €34 but if you pick up 4 naggins you get 800ml for €28.
Centra deals
That's Lidl GB though. Separate company to Lidl Ireland which operates the NI stores.
Not too much info on the Lidl NI website: https://www.lidl-ni.co.uk/grocery-range/wines-beers-and-spirits
Here is a link Lidl uk beer prices, it gives a separate price for Scotland and Wales where MUP is applied
and spirits
Feck 'em. I was hoping they would do the €25 Hennessy again.

Great stuff. Thanks for letting us know.
That's 2 for 2 between yourself and YoYo.
A hard pill to swallow when you could get 48 Carlsberg for €20 on New Years Day.
There's a LIDL in Buttercrane Centre in Newry, wonder what the beer selection is lik there? LIDL Ireland is one company for ROI and NIRL stores so expect they should be the same as pre MUP up north.
woohoo - 12 Galahad for €19.88 beer bargain of the year 2022
I don’t need slabs of beer at the moment but had to go up to McGeoughs the nearest Northern off licence to me for Moretti blade kegs! I timed myself from there to home ( Blackrock in Louth ); 16 minutes!
Cheapest beer in Ireland revealed: Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Dunnes and SuperValu prices compared - Dublin Live
Well Slabs arrived in this morning. Delighted. All in good condition etc.
Approx €80 delivered for 48 cans.
The equivalent Krombacher in Tesco is €148.32.
Say no more.
Lol this thread is just going to be duty free/Up North discussion from now on.
Not locally to me. Checked a second store today and same sign still up. Valid to Feb 12th
Look to be back upto €10
Really good
Has anyone tried these and what were they like
Fingers crossed! Keep us posted! :)
Also in Lidl, 4x330ml Franciscan Well Rebel Red down from €10 to €5.79 today. Price sign indicated its until Feb some time.
you can take it that if tesco have a "reduction" then the real price is the reduced price. It's not worth €12 - but is ok at €8. Its a beefy spanish tempranillo. You'll get similar in Aldi for €8
I have never understood why the ccpc don't take actions again pretend rrp prices that permeate retail stores - especially Tesco and their wines, but mostly furniture stores.
So when tesco say 33% off or half price - just assume that they increased the price by 50% or 100% in order to make fools of their customers who think they are getting value.
The real value in wines is aldi & lidl in their 7.99 to 9.99 range.
Same price in dunnes, which is a reduction
Also in Lidl - Franziskaner 5% Hefe Weissbier 500ml Bottle remains unchanged @ €1.99 .. thankfully as it's one of my favs.
Brilliant
Mine due to arrive 18th it says. Heres hoping. I'll be placing another order when they arrive.
At last, a comment about a booze deal!!
Thanks elperello.
Just back from Lidl, first time since MUP.
Couple of chinks of light.
Crafty Pale Ale 4.5% €1.79 (unchanged by MUP)
Spanish Red Wine 11% €6.51
