It's all falling apart alarmingly fast for Boris Johnson across the water. How long you reckon he has left as British Prime Minister? Hours surely?
How many parties are they talking about now? I've lost count.

Steve Higham is the Captain of the Prince Of Wales Aircraft Carrier who advised the Prime Minister on HMG policy in the Middle East, Syria, Eastern Mediterranean, Gulf, South / South-East Asia and NATO and on linked domestic prosperity aspects as part of the Johnson Government’s levelling-up agenda. (I'm a bit confused about the levelling up part TBH)
The other boat driver Nick Cooke-Priest who was in charge of the other carrier got fired for misusing the warship’s official car on weekends so Steve should expect no less.
The BBC haven’t ignored anything.
some people just don’t like it when they find out that Labour were at it as well.
From what I gather, they did not break the rules that were in place at the time plus it was an actual work dinner. So in what way were Labour "at it as well"?
so when it is the Labour party, people who work together having a beer and a bite to eat is a "Work Dinner", when it is the staff of No 10, it is a party?
Labour were at it as well, but of course the hypocrites will do all they can to deny it.
I'm no fan of labour but he was following the regulations as they stood at the time.
bloody good of some young lad to take a load of hostages in Texas, just to take the attention away from Boris.
I guess the Tonga volcano was all a distraction as well. 🙄
You've been presented with facts that Labour didn't break guidelines in this instance, yet Boris et al did when they had their get together.
How hard is this to understand? I'm pretty sure 99% of this forum don't care enough about UK Labour to vociferously defend them.
so did Martin Reynolds
Slight difference between having a takeaway and a beer in a constituency office at the end of the day with a couple of colleagues, versus what the Tories have done...which by my info is the below at least
100 people invited to a garden party
Multiple leaving dos.
Multiple parties (a number of which johnson attended)
Wine fridays
They had catering at some of the parties and they bought a bloody wine fridge and a suitcase to carry the bottles! Lol
Don't try convince us, it's the Tory MPs and party Chair you need to convince.
100 people invited by their boss, (who isn't a Tory) to have a drink in the garden after a day spent in the same office as opposed to the Labour leader having a drink in an office with people he has spent the day working with?
I'm struggling to see the difference to be honest.
Yup and that's exactly what Boris is hoping for. That there are *just* enough people like you that are no able to see the difference.
Throw enough mud around, batten down the hatches, rinse and repeat.
There is a vast difference between someone having a quiet drink with a take away meal in the middle of a working session (which was allowd under the rules) and a "Bring Your Own Booze" evening organised by the PMs permanent secretary at a time when social mixing was banned except with one other person from another household outdoors in a public place.
The garden party was so bad that the No10 cleaners even complained: https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/downing-street-party-no-10-garden-state-byob-drinks-lockdown-1395891
Obviously nobody here will be surprised at your defence of the PM.
I am aware of that but he is the pms private Secretary, he was pictured at another event shoulder to shoulder with him drinking wine and eating cheese...I am genuinely losing count of how many events there were at this stage!
You took just one of the things..what about the others? You are "struggling to see the difference"?...how?
They also had external people...like the deputy editor of the sun over for a party. Was that allowed as well?
I have no doubt he will continue to throw people under the bus to attempt to save himself "operation save big dog"...Christ lol...what a shambles
when was the deputy editor of the sun as a party at ten downing street?
I am presuming you are confused and actually mean James Slack, who was leaving his role as Downing Street communications secretary (a role he pretty much was in before Johnson became PM) to take up the job of deputy editor of the Sun.
he had a few drinks with people he had shared an office with all day (weeks, months even).
How many people with the Labour Leader..............
You are right on James slack alright yeah fair enough..handy to have someone pro conservative in the sun isn't it.
What about all the other points? Wine Friday, regular parties a number with BJ in attendance, a wine fridge, wine fridays, a suitcase for the wine lol.
You honestly are comparing that to Starmer having a beer with a takeaway? Come on now, you are being entirely disingenuous.
They even tried to get their mate Paul Dacre in as head of OFCOM but they didn't manage that, so he is now editor in chief of DMG media, expect daily mail etc to go even more pro conservative if that is possible.
I hope the "big dog" stays tbh.. labour+10 in most polls great he shows the tories up for who they are.
I think it's important to note Starmer went on tv to explain the situation while being interviewed unlike Johnson.
It is also telling that this "story" was first put out by the sun in May last year...odd that the Daily Mail (with editor in chief - Paul dacre back) have decided to resurrect it now..
The only surprising aspect of all this is that some people are surprised.
Everyone knows what BJ is like. The guy is a coward, a cheat and a serial proven liar in both his professional and personal life going back decades. Everyone knows BJ did not want to bring in any lockdown regulations- their hand was forced. They had zero intention of following the regulations themselves. Everyone knows that Tories generally cannot be trusted to tell the time.
A spoofer of the highest order but the English plebs seem to have a soft spot for this type of charade. Fawning over Royalty, a plummy accent and an Eton education is a national pursuit.
They call it 'libertarianism" which to my mind is just a euphemism for laziness and that is exactly what BJ is- lazy. I believe he will survive all this.
it was the number ten employees, or civil servants as they are other wise called, that were having the parties wasn't it?
Maybe this summary will help you with the difference:
"If Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson soon joins the gallery of toppled PMs, it will be because he attended a “bring your own booze” party in the back garden of Number 10 and his aides had a lockdown-busting piss-up in Downing Street the night before the Queen buried her husband."
Just digest that paragraph for a few moments and remember this was on the PM's watch. Not just that, it was quite literally in his back garden. How can he possibly meet the Queen in private for the weekly briefs and look her in the eye I've no idea but then again BJ's brass neck is in a league of its own.
So their boss the leader of the government and party isn't the one who sets the tone for what behavior is allowed? Also again he's their boss who didnt stop it and if its because he didn't know it was happening then its because he didnt want to know or more than likely cus its boris being boris he just didn't care.
Irrelevant.
The buck stops with the powers that be. It's about the culture and mentality- acting like it's Rag Week when nurse doctirs etc are working around the clock in sweaty PPE. Citizens getting fined for meeting up and there is a piss up at No.10 every week by the sounds of it.
Throw the civil servants under the bus if you want. It will always be someone else's fault when it comes to BJ.
All of them? Really? And the government was completely powerless to enforce it's own policies?
This is all known but he makes a certain sad, irrelevant, angry cohort of voters in this country happy because he allegedly triggers people they don't like and pushes through racist policies. They don't care about their own welfare, the economy, other people, etc. Only their own entertainment matters. That's why it took his fiddling while nearly 200,000 people died of covid to finally cut through.
They've continually behaved like an upper caste that seems incapable of realising that the rules apply to them as well as to the hoi polloi. Your average Tory voter probably thinks "libertarian" is a mis-spelling of "librarian". They just want to boot out foreigners and trigger the libtards.
If these type of weekly shin digs happened in any other corporate organisation or setting the CEO would be bounced out the door PDQ. No judge no jury straight to execution.
pretty much so, yes.
which is obviously why the Grauniad is now starting to come up with stories about how people are being lined up to take the heat, because unfortunately the civil service has become caught up in the angry left's campaign of outrage
Not that it is likely to happen in the near future, but I wonder if anyone will work for Kier if he gets in to power. Him and his mouthpiece side kick have spent the past month moaning and demonising the very people they expect to carry out their policies.
This reads like a triggered attempt to shut down criticism of the conservative party. Feel free to provide evidence because I don't believe one word of this.
5. An early lunch with Boris Johnson
A lunch in London with Boris Johnson, who was described as "Thatcherite and Eurosceptic", was documented by an Irish Foreign Affairs official in April 1995.
Boris Johnson said Britain’s continued membership of the EU would be a “boon for the world and for Europe” in an unpublished newspaper column in which he wrestles with his decision to back or oppose Brexit. The foreign secretary has since insisted the column was intended merely as a tool for his own thought process, calling it “semi-parodic” in tone.
As an aside, it looks like Boris was a eurosceptic from the beginning.
So the PM is 'pretty much' helpless in preventing (mutliple) piss ups in his own back garden. Oh come on..now you are just having a laugh. This was not some Department out in the depths of western Scotland.
What stories? Exhibit A- Allegra Stratton. Exhibit B- Matt Hancock. Wasnt there a similar story about a navy captain who allowed his crew to have a piss up? The civil service, aides, employees, SPADs etc etc have done a pretty good job at hanging themselves without the angry left (as you see it) running it. These are not just stories or idle chit chat from an angry left. These are all facts.
When you try to reduce it to just inconvenient 'stories' what you really mean is that it should not have become public knowledge. If No.10 never thought about this getting out or being an issue in the first place then they really are clueless.
The reason the civil service have become 'caught up' is because BJ has not got the balls to take the heat himself. He is buying time and hopes it will all blow over. There is surely some more mileage from Randy Andy.
