Oh no. You mentioned the "Hword".
They really don't like it when you bring up the fact that's a conspiracy theory too.
So going by your logic, if I say that there is a conspiracy by unicorns to take over the world and they are picked out of peoples arses when they go for a shite, then I shouldn’t have to try to make the slightest bit of sense out of it.
But if someone can't answer these questions, and spends the time dodging them, moaning about them and getting pissy about them, while also declaring the conspiracy is obviously true and apparent to anyone, why shouldn't we dismiss that theory?
What about when a conspiracy claims something that is demonstrably false? Can we dismiss it then?
What about when a conspiracy is inherently silly like the idea that the global conspiracy is trying to make people magnetic? Should we take that one seriously? Should we take it as seriously as the other theories being presented?
So if I say that e.g. LBJ, the FBI, the Mafia and Nazi's were all part of the plot to kill JFK. People shouldn't question that on a public discussion forum because it's a "conspiracy theory"?
What's the difference between a conspiracy theory and made-up BS?
Also, does this cloak that protects views from scrutiny extend to e.g. Holocaust denial and medical disinformation? We've had both here.
"Looking for too many facts" is top banter.
You don't think asking why some unknown power would be trying to secretly install a communist government in Ireland under the cover of making people wear masks during a pandemic is a sensible question?
If someone is conspiring to do something then the simplest question to answer will normally be "why". Even if the answer is just "to get more money". Most conspiracies which are uncovered come down to "more money", but nobody has come up with a reason to want to change the government in Ireland by use of a worldwide pandemic.
Now read the thread title and explain why you are taking the conspiracy theorists side of the argument.
There's a huge difference between "permanent " and "as needed". Some would say they are almost opposite in meaning.
No, I don't think they'll all be permanent.
Asking the questions isn't the problem, dismissing a conspiracy theory because somebody can't answer them is.
Questions like how and why are often extremely difficult to answer, even for things accepted as fact.
so they're not permanent then?
That's exactly my concern, that restrictions are brought back when "needed". The definition of "needed" is the problem.
So what would be appropriate questions for someone proposing that Oswald didn't act alone then?
Or for someone suggesting that ALL covid restrictions are permanent because of a plot to install communist government?
Since when did questions like how and why become so tricky to answer?
don't forget alternate facts
He's being asked two questions. One of which is a yes or no.
No one is asking you guys for proof. We're asking for you to just explain what the theory is.
You guys can't even do that.
And of course what's wrong with just admitting "I don't know"?
Also lol "too many facts".
Yet half the time theorists are telling us that "this is a fact" or "It's obvious what's happening" etc etc.
Denmark are in the process of re-removing all restrictions....
It's a pandemic, they said they would bring in and get rid of restrictions as and when needed.
Any time anybody proposes any sort of conspiracy theory they immediately get bombarded with who/why/what/how questions that can't possible be answered.
If I said Lee Harvey Oswald wasn't alone in the JFK shooting, I'd be asked who was the other shooter, how did he get there, why did he do it, and if I can't answer, the logic on this thread is that my conspiracy theory must be BS because I can't answer everything. That's not how conspiracy theories work, they're theories all the details cant be known or they wouldn't be theories. You guys are looking for too many facts, I think some theories on here are perfectly plausible.
Simple.
People here have claimed that the covid measures are a plot to install a global communist government. Do you believe this? Yes or no?
If no why have you not called out any conspiracy theorists for claiming such a thing? Why nitpick someone else's point?
Those are the questions you've avoided.
Which bit haven't I answered?
Actually, nevermind.
Asking a few questions is not “hysterical frothing at the mouth”. However, throwing toys out of the pram when asked a few questions is more like “hysterical frothing at the mouth”.
Yup. Question dodged. Insults thrown.
Why is so hard for you guys to say "no I don't believe that conspiracy"?
Well I've little interest in engaging with anyone whose stock response is hysterical frothing at the mouth. There's a long way from 2019 to whatever mumbo jumbo end place you seem to be attributing to my words.
You genuinely don't see covid passes being repurposed in any shape or form - fine. However I wouldn't exactly be supremely confident that such a pass wouldn't find some sort of permanent use for border controls.
And I certainly don't think such a concern puts me in whatever bucket you seem to want to dispatch me to.
Anyway, I think I've got the general tenor of this thread by now.
I'm expecting the ol "I haven't read the thread and won't answer the question" tactic.
We are on page 345 now and we don't have a why or a solid conspiracy.
Any time the why is asked folks like yourself get personal and either insult or dodge... I see you are doing the same.
The question is valid... Are the passes some weird way of bringing in global communism, or is Satan behind them? We have had all these reasons on this thread... What do you think the passes are for, and why would they stay forever?
Pretty good thanks. Would be a lot better with some straight answers though. If there's a question in my post you didn't understand I'd be happy to clarify.
More countries might require certain vaccines before being allowed to enter? Think that wouldn't be the worst tbh. Also if the HSE have any sense, they should implement some app that we can use to track our general vaccine records.
How do you envision such an evolution? Do you think countries should be allowed to query if people have been vaccinated before allowing them in?
Are you alright?
OK. What's the real reaso for the covid pass then.
Folks on here have been claiming it's part of a global conspiracy to install a global communist government.
Do you believe this? If not why have you not puked up any conspiracy theorists for making such a claim?
I don't believe restrictions are permanent. I didn't realise the scope of measurement here went back as far as March 2020. In that context, yeah, restrictions have been removed.
I'm less concerned about individual restrictions coming and going over the last 2 years but more the existence of any at all. And when the time comes I don't want to see hangovers from this sh!tshow. I don't fully trust the current government to let this go in it's entirety.
The one I fear the most is the covid pass. Stepping back from covid - to have such a system in place and somewhat accepted by the masses seems like something ever increasing governments would find hard to step away from. Find it hard to believe that there isn't an appetite to extend and evolve the system somewhere across Europe. It simply has to be appealing to some. So when I see that now pan European system decommissioned - I'll be very relieved and will truly believe we've reached end game.
How far can you travel from home? Can you leave home for non essential purposes? How many people can you meet up with? Can people visit each others homes? Can you go to work? Can you travel internationally?...
I don't think they'll be permanent in the sense that they never go away, I think they'll permanently exist as policy tools that get used regularly now. Assuming we exit Covid restrictions this year, I think if we had a repeat of the 2009 swine flu scare again in 2 years time, I think lockdowns and mandatory vaccines would be implemented again.
I don't know how much the health service has to do with anything, we've been treating people on trolleys for the last 20 years in this country, how many are being treated on trolleys today? The health service seems to be coping now better than it was before Covid, and that's with a massive amount of staff self isolating. I think it's clear that the system is not going to be overwhelmed, yet restrictions remain.
