Anyone know what is his medical exception?
Still makes more sense than the logic given by the immigration minister Hawke!
I didn't understand the reference to the Dutch at first but now I get what you're saying so fair enough.
I'm not Serbian or defending Serb actions re war
I think soldiers under a UN flag weren't allowed to intervene. The Dutch soldiers should have mutinied and stopped the massacre anyway.
Why do people treat 'rules' as supreme? There should be more conscience-following and less rule-following. Anyway we're drifting off topic...
I'm not in the least bit worried for Australia. My point was that Djokovics behaviour and fall out could result in poorer relations between the countries. This would hurt Serbia as in their citizens being able to access Australia or at least strain diplomatic relations.
He's not worried about the Serbs getting their feet on the ground. Australia's armed forces have a fearsome and very high reputation. Just ask Rommel and US general Vines.
"Australia's Special Forces, having proved their worth against al Qaeda and Taliban forces in Afghanistan, would be ideally suited to join any attack on Iraq, according to US General John Vines.
"If there were to be an attack and I were to be involved, I would do everything within my power to ensure that the SAS was present," General Vines said.
"I think their skill, expertise, experience and professionalism are just invaluable."
General Vines is the head of 6000, mostly US, coalition forces stationed at the former Soviet Bagram airfield north of Afghanistan's capital, Kabul." https://www.theage.com.au/world/us-general-wants-australian-sas-in-iraq-20020912-gdukyn.html
"“If I had to take hell, I would use the Australians to take it and the New Zealanders to hold it.” -Erwin Rommel."
By New Zealanders, he was referring specifically to Maori units, which I find incredibly interesting given the racial superiority attitudes the German elite were notorious for.
They fought and defeated the Vichy French in Lebanon and Syria as well, which is not a small achievement despite what some clueless people think of French military valour.
But it increases the dissonance re hiding from covid imo.
Lots of brave Aus volunteers fought in Vietnam too.....are they afraid of Omicron?
My comment was completely tongue in cheek
Yeah probably....they would likely be in their 80s if they are still alive....
They aren't "hiding" from COVID...they are fighting it their own way which is fair enough...and it's worked rather brilliantly if you like at how few deaths they have had.
Nobody is above the law and acting as if you think you are is a sure way to piss off Australians. I’m not all surprised with the outcome. It serves him right!
All the auld war horses and experts coming out with froth on their chins.
Bottom line.
Lad didn’t comply with regulations. Tried to flash bang his way out of it
Nothing doing…..Aussies backed their people.
Deported
Good on ya Diggers.
No Sheilas, Kangaroo’s, Platypus or Alf Stewart to be allowed enter Serbia ever again.
I'm drinking a cappuccino hence the froth.
They won’t give a Castlemaine XXXX.
No worries pal, these issues always flush out the ‘armchair generals’ from under their slates.
Eager to share their lack of military knowledge with the great unwashed.
Lookit …. No harm done all in a days work.
That for me is the big concern, if the exemption was not up to standard fine, deport , but because he is anti vax? Not a great road to go down really.
Novak has not handled this well , but ultimately he has been deported for political polling. Grim.
Your post is deliberately vague. You're 'calling me out' without even pointing out what's wrong with what I've posted. Nice trick.
At least the other posters are direct and upfront, even if they totally disagree with me and everything I stand for I know where I stand with them.
Vietnam vets are definitely going to want to steer clear of Covid, seeing as they're getting on at this stage.
Break that down and what they were saying is that there should be no special treatment for rich sportspeople. They should be subject to the same rules as everyone else
That was the immigration minister 😉
When was his visa granted? I'd assume it was granted before he "got" covid? He wouldn't be going in on a normal "tourist" visa.
It would only be at the border that those requirements are checked I'd imagine.
There is a guy living down the road from me and he has a dog.
Aren't you clever?
Yep. I haven't been to Australia in a long time but certainly for the USA, your ESTA only gets you to the immigration desk, you're still subject to refusal by the officer.
I'd be very surprised if the Aussies don't have the same provisions.
Glasso's not going to be happy - See ya in four years... though considering your age, maybe not.
"Novak Djokovic has lost his attempt to bid to overturn his deportation and flew out of Melbourne on Sunday night en route to Dubai." https://www.smh.com.au/sport/novak-djokovic-visa-saga-returns-to-federal-court-20220116-p59olc.html
Are the police and the armed forces the same thing in Oz? You learn something new each day!
No but they are the same nationality.
Djokovic is a modern day Margaret Court. Shame he tainted his legacy. Great tennis player but seems to be missing a few brain cells. Must be all those bad molecules in the water took them away.
You know that both you and Graham Dwyer both used boards? Does that make ye one and the same?
Having a distrust in government is one thing and Having no manners and consideration for other people is another.
Either, they're awfully unfortunate with an underlying condition that precludes them from wearing a mask that must be throughout the genetic makeup of many Eastern European or else they're just ignorant
If over the course of the week I have to tell 10 people to fcuk off out of the office for not wearing a mask, at least 6 of them are Eastern European. Thing that irritates me the most is, a mask is of little use to the person wearing it, they're worn to help protect other people. It's a lack of manners
No it doesn't.
I think it's clear what I was getting at. Both institutions represent the same country. In fact many police are ex-soldiers.
But yeah the army aren't responsible for something the police have done as they are separate institutions.
Here, tell the old man to calm down a bit will you - if not looks like he might do himself an injury!
