Clerical Officer in the Civil Service 2022 | Civil Service - publicjobs.ie
Get the competencies, use the STAR method for your answers, type out your answers and in bold use the words they use in the competency. Learn them and practice writing them out, this will show you the bits you are forgetting.
You can use the same example across multiple questions so less to learn off and remember. Look up local government reform and read a high overview or introduction if there is a policy paper on it in case you get asked anything. Also read the duties of the role in the application pack
good luck
Thats true actually dont no what made me over think that thanks.
Hi thank you for your reply - but I DID answer the questions the time SAME way ??? I would 100% agree with CRINKLEY that it was far more people applying for the CO positions.
They went to 176 sligo for CO 2020
thanks a mill
Anybody know upto what oom called for interview for offaly and Westmeath so far?
Thanks so much! Would they be similar to ones in application form? Like "tell me a time when you dealt with a difficult situation and how you overcame it" " a time when you worked in a team " etc 🤔
Congratulations 👏 good luck with the interview. Do u mind me asking what oom did you place on the cork panel. Just trying to gage the wait time for an email. Did they also state when the interview would be and if it’s in person or through zoom?
Few questions i was asked at interview. How would you deal with a difficult colleague, Tell us about a time you didn't achieve a target with your team, How would you deal with a difficult customer,What is GDPR, what does Bcc in email mean, how are you with word, excel, emails,PowerPoint etc, what civil service departments do I know, is there any department that interests you, is there any courses I would like to do and why. That's all I can remember, my interview was last year. It felt a bit rushed I didn't get to finish answering questions, it was split between three interviews over zoom.
*Three interviewers
Hi where can I find this info for other counties?
I think people have just been emailing pas and asking. If anyone does get this info please post here for other people
Hi GMorgan,
I emailed public jobs directly and asked what OOM did they reach for ** last year for the CO campaign.
hope this helps.
Any information on the interview ? Received an expression of interest .
What Co are you in?
Does anyone know for certain whether the time you took to answer the questions factored into your OOM? Or was it just based on the quality of the answers? I would assume the time doesn't matter once you finish within time.
I need to decide whether to remain on the Dublin panel by tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone could suggest which might be best for my situation. I’m in a job at the minute where I was looking to get a mortgage around June.
I scored in 200s for Dublin and late 50s for Longford. I was hoping to stay on the panel where I would have a better chance of being offered a position after June. Maybe that’s naive and neither would take that long but I’ve been saving for years for this mortgage and don’t want to have to wait another. Also I don’t know if I’d pass the interview so am getting ahead of myself there anyway.
Have you taken into consideration that you could get hybrid work and may only need to be in Dublin 2 or 3 days a week?
Oh no that’s ok. I just was told I needed to be in the same employer for 12 months before getting a mortgage which is why I can’t offer on a property until May or that is what I was told anyway. Maybe I need to ask for advice on a mortgage board to clarify? But yeah I was just hoping to stay on the panel that would be the slowest offering me a position. Commuting is ok for me.
Thats not to totally correct. You need to not be on probation to a drawdown your mortgage.
So if you're still on probation you can still get approval, start looking at houses and go sale agreed and line everything up. You just need to be off probation to actually complete the sale.
Civil service probation is 12 months long, but ICS is a lender that specialised in civil service mortgages and a friend of mine was able to draw down with them 6 months into probation.
Good Luck, that's a tough decision.
Based on the mobility map, which shows the total number of positions by department, there seems to be 403 positions in Longford.
Bear in mind though that map mightn't be up to date, I don't think it's too accurate.
You could email pas to ask up to what oom they recruited to in the last panel but bear it was a two year panel, this is a one year.
You could take Dublin, wait the two years for mobility or just reapply for the next campaign and select Longford (at least you're in.)
Also, you could be working from home a couple of days a week so the commute wouldn't be too bad.
Just remember you can stay on both panels and if you get called for Dublin first and pass an interview you will be able to defer a job offer and then you can contact PAS when you’re in a better position to take up employment.
Unfortunately the message said
Please note that if you express an interest for interview for Co. Dublin you will no longer be considered for vacancies in your other chosen location, if any.
But thank you for letting me know about the defer option.
I got this too and was surprised by it. From what I remember you would normally interview and (once you passed) you could choose or decline your second choice county if it came up first.
Hi did anyone recieve any emails in relation to an interview after sending in the information needed by this morning ?
Hi all,
Does anyone know what stage they are at with the kerry panel please?
Im scheduled for next week. Are candidates no longer given board member names? Or can you request them
Hi can I ask which county you are interviewing for and which OOM you are?
Hi guys just wondering does anyone have any information on Galway panel?
How far did they get last year in order of merit?
I'm in the 80's and for both Galway and Mayo and just wondering would it common to be placed with such a number.
Thanks
