Russia being run by a crooked undemocratic mob, lead by a dictator bully boy, is where your argument falls down. How many people were shot and killed in Kazakhstan?
I don't know, how many Ashli Babbits were there?
Seriously popular politician that Putin. He's been in power now since the 90s. Russians must really love him
How on earth does he manage that. Its like he'd have to kill anyone that's considering running against him in a series of unfortunate accidents
That comparison shows how skewed your view is.
It is more likely that Putin represents some very powerful factions in Russia that will retain their power with or without Putin, no matter how people try to pretend Russian policy is driven by Putin alone. The reality is, Putin was very close to being "fired" in 2014 when it seemed Ukraine was going to slip out of the Russian world. The Crimean annexation and the support for Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine is best interpreted as a desperate and costly reaction by the Russian regime, having taken their eye off the ball in Ukraine.
The very rapid reaction in Kazakhstan is best interpreted as lessons learned by the Russian regime since then. No more so-called "colour revolutions" will be allowed to gain traction.
Or change the rules to ensure he can run again, because he's so popular :)
That you dismiss the comparison is how skewed your view is.
Rumor has it they advertise in Russian papers for people to enter a competition top prize is a free flight ,
Off a balcony ,
Nobody ever enters
So Russia sending the army in to another country to mow people down is akin to a protestor getting shot by police in the capitol riot? What's your point so?
Are Russian troops mowing down people in Kazakhstan? An unarmed female protestor who was a former military veteran was shot dead by a US security officer with a history of incompetence. That was 100% legitimate according to the US regime.
By that metric, the Kazakhstani regime is well within its rights to shoot dead unarmed protestors of any gender or background that threaten it's sacred institutions, right? That is the precedent that has been set. I didn't make the rules - I just ask they are consistently applied.
I believe one did. Mentioned he had aspirations for top office on his application
Won top prize
Earlier I said the FYRs were in NATO in the 90s, that was an autocorrect typo, obviously they were not.
My point was, that NATO intervened (eventually) in the Balkan wars for humanitarian reasons. And also political reasons, let's not be naive....
But, with that lesson learned, why would NATO wait that long for Ukraine to turn into a killing field, with the precedent set that they have a duty to prevent such things. Is stopping a war before it begins through the threat of the Russian army being obliterated as soon as it sets foot and tank track in Ukraine proper not entirely legitimate?
Meh, just the usual Russian government sanctioned gurrier behaviour toward it's neighbours.
You don't even need to be a neighbour to have your health services attacked by their government sanctioned gurriers.
Ah the good old days lol
Also reports this evening that Russian backed forces releasing Toxic Ammonia in Donbas.
Could be part of their false flag attack.
None and even less than that. Russia can do what it likes because the political leadership of Europe is naive, weak and not interested in long term issues.
If it came to war Russia would be steam rolled, it's a small economic unit now.
Two weeks ago the Russia came out and said they believed American special forces were going to launch chemical weapons in Donbas to make Russia look bad ,
But as seen in Syria there is no chemical weapons in Syria other than what the assad regime has, no chemical weapons at all , 🤣
The US won't get directly involved, they'd be fighting on Russias doorstep who can move large numbers of troops and weaponry fairly quickly anywhere in their territory much to the annoyance of NATO....
So can nato, much to everyone's else's annoyance , hence why Russia hasn't had the testicles over the last 80 years to fight a real army
Eh they fought the Germans in what was histories most brutal conflict, infact only for them you'd probably be speaking German now...no wonder they're getting antsy about NATO on their borders...
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36575180
The Russians sure like to remind everyone who listens about WW2 (especially their own people). It just tells everyone else that "winning" WW2 is pretty much the only achievement (apart from some early space race victories?) in its recent history.
Putin is the best possible spokesman for Nato membership anywhere west of Russia. Almost everyone (excluding Belarus and Serbia) wants to join or has joined now.
Probably one of the most uneducated comments I've ever seen on here...
Just recently they brought the Syrian war to an end whilst the west stood on the sidelines for most of it...
No they didn't there is still fighting in Syria ,and Israel is bombing them pretty much everyother day , despite threats from putin ,and there not actually fighting anyone
And no russia didn't win WW2 they helped bring it to an end quicker but they also had lot of support from other countries including the us with supplies , but let's not forget the Normandy invasion which Russia didn't have any involvement ,
So yeah Russia hasn't fought a real army in 80 + years ,
Russia hasn't fought a real army in 80 years?
There's a monument in St petersburg you should pay a visit too....walls upon walls of the names of the fallen, millions of them
Russia entered that war and within a year it was nearly over, I'm sure there's still sporadic fighting but nothing on the level it was at.infact once the west seen Russia entering Syria(legally) they got all bent out of shape and decided they were going to do something....probably afraid of losing their proxies...
You mean they back Assad who uses chemical weapons and tortures his own people. Big win for the small guys. Also, had a loom through your past posts, your colloquialisms aren't "hiberno-english". I wonder given your posting history if you may be a Russian shill.
Aye you got me..I'm here sitting in St Petersburg....yet funnily enough if you've checked my posts as much as you say you have you'd have seen I comment on Irish affairs,my hometown in Ireland etc...
And the west supported headchoppers who they miraculously couldn't see the dust from their Toyota pick ups thundering across the desert or the oil trucks leaving Syria...not bad for the world's most advanced military....
For me its as simple as this, you don't need any soldiers let alone 100,000 to liberate a population that wants to be annexed, therefore what the russians are doing is clearly not legitimate. Let them call for a border poll, otherwise it's plain old fashioned murder and pillage of an independent sovereign nation.
Nearly over it was called American airpower , special forces ,and Kurdish forces on the ground , Russia did not fight or defeat isis ,
They did bomb hospitals , schools, market's , launch chemical weapons against the civilian population along with the indiscriminate bombing of civilian population centers, the same tactic they deployed in Chechnya
Lol .
You really have no real idea whats going on ,
The Dazzler already said it ,
