If they are the same then that’s not the issue, I need to refresh mine daily because I don’t have a static ip and that catches some people out
No my issue seems to be when setting up the Static settings on the a80j. There is something wrong with what I am doing. The correct DNS is added but the locations are not changing.
I got a Sony Google TV recently and took me a night or two of messing about and research. But I had to turn off ipv6 on the router and it now works.
I have a Virgin 3.0 Hub so don't think that's an option unfortunately.
I have never used Sony devices with Getflix but I notice in the app that there is a Sony drop-down to select the country you want to view from. Might be worth a try.
Checked there now, switching to UK but nothing happened.
What router do you have?
Having issues helping a friend to get this working with a Vodafone Gigabox router. I understand that this particular router is a pain, as it has "Secure DNS" and overrides device level DNS settings. (I have the older Vodafone router myself and had no issue in getting Getflix working and did not have to change any router settings)
With this Gigabox router is the only option to choose manual DNS settings and change the router DNS to Getflix DNS? Not keen to put Getlflix DNS on the router for all traffic given that it's not my house.
Could I manually change router to Google DNS or some other DNS to allow the device level Getflix DNS to work?
You might want to read this:
Basically: SmartDNS will not change/mask your IP; You have to use VPN if you want to do it.
Static/dynamic IP is "valid" in your local network (basically - in your house) only; outside world (internet) doesn't care about your devices IPs, for outside world all your devices have same IP, and that's your router's WAN (your external IP = the one you can see at whatismyip.com) address. If you set your TV to use your "outside" IP, your router and your TV will have same IP; two devices with same IP can't operate on the same network, so your router "takes care" about it and your TV has no internet connectivity.
What to do? On your TV change only DNS settings and leave all the rest on "auto". Streaming services are still not working? That's because (most likely) your router intercepts custom DNS queries and readdresses them through your internet provider's (Virgin's) DNS. Unfortunately, I don't have Virgin hub (nor use Getflix) so I can't advise how to get it working, but many routers have option to disable DNS interception; if yours does have it, use it, if not, contact Getflix, they (most likely) will help you to get it working. Alternatively, use VPN (might be tricky to set up to use on TV only).
Fritzbox 7530
BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub working for people with Getflix? Seems to be down for me
Both are working for me. Perhaps try updating your WAN IP with Getflix.
All fine for me
Defo says somewhere on their website that you have to turn off ipv6.
As an aside, I’ve getflix and I’m only using it to watch Prime UK on my SkyQ box.
I’m also a Disney and Netflix subscriber.
Should I point them to their US variants? Or am I missing anything?
Also, is it worth signing up for HBOmax?
Using US Disney Plus removes Star TV from your Disney. Star isn't on US Disney. That is the main difference.
HBOMAX is a brilliant channel. All last year Warner movies were on HBOMAX free the day they opened in the cinema. This year it will be 45 days after cinemas launch you get it free on HBOMAX. There is a thread on how to get HBOMAX cheaper. I have it for around €2.50 per month. That offer is gone but you can still get it for around €5 per month
have a look through this thread: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058197295/hbomax-caribbean-and-latin-america/p1
Thanks sleeper.
So I’ll leave Disney alone.
What about US Netflix?
Been having trouble with it on surfshark
You can use the dashboard to change any of these and it’s easy to revert them back, all depends which you prefer
for Netflix do a library comparison Irish vs us there’s loads of sites on Google
Unfortunately Disney+ will always point to the US when connected to Getflix Smart DNS. There is no way to avoid that other than to remove Getflix if you want Star content.
Watched Top Gear on the iPlayer last night with no issues.
One of the main reasons why I’m not going to renew my subscription.
Having to get up IP and DNS every time for Disney content means using VPN app is just as convenient
Did that.
Looking at this site, Ireland and UK seem to have more content than the US. That can't be right surely?!
https://www.finder.com/netflix-usa-vs-world-content
I read within the last year or so that Ireland had the largest or one of the largest Netflix content in the world, believe it or not.
They would have more content yes, some content will be different but it’s nothing like it used to be when the American Netflix was the best
I have Disney+ with Getflix on the Firestick and Disney+ without Getflix on TV so I can switch between them that way. Haven't noticed a difference apart from Star missing from the Getlfix (US) version. Although I will use the Firestick if watching a Disney movie or show as it seems to be smoother.
Netflix US doesn't work for me anymore. Do people still have it working?
Bit late but I had the same problem when changing to the Vodafone gigabox router. I got onto Getflix support and they asked was I using that router and told me how to turn off a setting in it(possibly secure dns I can’t remember) and it was sorted.
their support is fantastic I’ve found.
Getflix doesn't work for smart tvs for bbc iplayer anymore
Still works for phone
It's working on the Fire TV Stick.
working perfect on my smart tv
