Got me some Barn Eggs, BB 11/01. That's a bit short-dated for eggs.
Says till Tuesday 1st February at bottom.
It's usually two weeks for those so that seems a bit short as well. The 28 day month must be confusing their algorithm.
Was in Aldi, Dublin Road, Limerick. Selling Rooster potatoes 7.5kg for €6. However best before or sell by date is 24th January.
Are they worth buying? I be only cooking for myself.
Any suggestions how to keep them fresh longer?
Keep them in a cool, dark, dry, ventilated space.
Also €5.99 in Tesco and Dunnes
Dunnes had baby roosters for 49c a kg bag last week. They would be cheaper and you wouldn't have to buy as much. There's usually a kg bag of potatoes on offer in at least one supermarket in any given fortnight period.
The 7.5kg bag is probably fine but the problem I have with those big bags is you can't really see into them. So if they're sprouting, bad, not the size you want, you won't know until you get home.
"So if they're sprouting, bad, not the size you want, you won't know until you get home"
They shouldnt be sprouting or bad !
If they are 'fresh' (which of course they would be) , theres no problem with quality ....
And the sizing is done to a spec, so there wont be small ones, but all med to large size spuds.
