I am happy that the guard dealt with him in such a forceful manner, but there's also a bit of me that feels it was over the top. He really laid into him. It could have been two drug addicts having a fight; we don't know the circumstances. It seems like inappropriate behavior from a guard, calling him a p***y and shouting in his face. I don't know if he could have grounds for a complaint against the guards.
I saw something similar in Kusadasi one time (on Bar Street if anyone knows it...)
The only difference was that two cops were also flaking the offender along the street with long batons as they were screaming at him.
There were no further assaults on the street for the rest of the night.

It was the fact he was screaming in a man's face. I wouldn't find it acceptable from a member of the public so I certainly would not find it acceptable from a policeman.
If this happend back in the day before eveyone had a camera in their pocket im sure that guy would have got a few slaps of a batton and deservedly so.

I never said he was abusive, unless you consider his behaviour towards the person involved to be so.
Please explain in detail what the actual incident was? We don’t see it, we just see a Garda with the emotional intelligence of a used teabag screaming at a member of the public. If he is unable to control his emotions, he should not be in a public facing role. He is also a Garda, not a judge or jury.

A Gardai should be able to control his emotions and not be squealing like a spoilt child. His job is guardian of the peace. If the civilian has/is broken the law, arrest him. If not, there is no reason to approach him.
I don’t care what the guy done, a trained member of any police force should not react like that. It is completely unprofessional and as I said, shows that the Garda has zero emotional intelligence.
I’m fairly sure that I’ve read there is a link between having a low IQ and consequently a low frustration tolerance, leading to outbursts. Could very well be the case here.

No. It's the fact that a policeman has no right to shout abuse at a member of the public. I thought that would be a given.
He has powers of arrest if the member of the public has done something illegal.
