Has anyone ordered off the mybooze website or any other non irish site for beer?
@ Man Vs ManUre.............Don't need to go in to Newry.
There's a good big selection off-licence in Jonesboro, about 1km from Junction 20 on N1 after Newry before Dundalk.
Really ease to get to and I doubt they would care if you were a bit mucky and smelly from hiking.
They have a website so you could check prices..
Website??
I placed 5 slab orders last year to test the waters when word of MUP was spreading. All orders arrived fine, no customs issues. Some cans with broken ringpulls.
They've seemingly gotten rid of their cheaper slabs now - Egerer Super Lager and Wheat Beer Egerer Super Weizen were only €16 before shipping and fair tasty. They also did €21 Paderborner (now €24.99) and €19.99 Pilsener 5,0 (now €23.79). Meaning including shipping the cheapest slabs now are about €32 and cheapest vodka €14.80. Northern Ireland is cheaper than this if you're lucky enough to be able to afford to drive.
I regularly climb Slieve Binnian and wet boots/smelly armpits etc do not stop me going into ASDA in Kilkeel. Great staff and no issues about you being there. Then its down to the harbour and fresh fish and chips from the fishermans caravan. That is a great day out that your missing. You must be speeding through Newry if you miss Tesco, Sainsbury and Fiveways Garage and supermarket (some great offers there and its as big as any Tesco)
Also dedicated thread here:
Got a couple of slabs of Coors over Christmas. Had them in the corner of the kitchen. After trying a couple of cans from each slab and they are all flat. Proper disaster.
Kitchen far too warm for lager. Shed/garage/under the stairs much better

I had them in the corner away from the radiator but yep you live you learn.
After you cross the river and canal heading south, the entrance to Quays is a few hundred metres ahead on the left.
I do not recommend the KFC in Newry - rip-off exchange rate and absolutely shïte food...
Did you try pouring them into a pint glass ?
If all else fails you could try mixing them 50/50 with a pale ale or something else hoppy.
Yeah at first I thought it was a dirty glass but I tried different glasses and stuff. Just no bubbles coming up the glass at all. Has a head starting off but then it loses it as it's just flat.

Too valuable to throw out !! Throw a drop of 7 up into it , might liven it up a bit .
Maybe someone here will know, but what's the difference between guinness draft cans and these larger Surge cans. Do I need an appliance for them ? Cheers
You need the surger for them. Buy it any supermarket or off licence. €25 normally but have seen them for 20 before Christmas in Tesco.
What exactly is a surger ? An appliance that fits on the can? I'll have a look around the shop for one
7.90 for a rockshore, I'd throw it at them
It's good marketing. From the folks that brought you Arthur's Day.
Try to get an etched glass or hold the can higher from the glass when pouring
The Quays is the bottom of the Dublin road , on the left, ( going to Dublin)
Any update on this free bus to Newry?
And in the Dail bar prices are a lot less for our hard working TD's who brought in minumum pricing...
Guinness €4.80 a pint
Hophouse €6.10 a pint

No way storing slabs in ambient will spoil them in a couple of weeks. Check the date on the base ?
November 2022. I'll go through some more later later anyway and see if it was just a bit of bad luck.
Might order in a slab of krombacher to test the waters. Ive emailed them to see if they do requests.
Fwiw that offo in Jonesbrough isnt overly cheap.
24 x 440ml cans of heineken 32 euro.
In tesco its about 30 cans for the same price give or take. Would be worth going the extra few kms.
Yes Sainsbury's have 15 cans for £14. It's the 5% stuff too.

Why didn't you speak up years ago about it? MUP was on the cards for years. If you hadn't noticed the changes regarding the sales of alcohol over the past couple of years. Also all political parties bar the socialists were for the minimum pricing.
Regardless of the prices in the Dail bar, MUP only effects alcohol in off sales and supermarkets!
