Anyone know what is his medical exception?
"Personally, I am opposed to vaccination, and I wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine" - Some unvaccinated pro-tennis player who is mired in a vaccine exemption controversy
Why would people perceive him as being against vaccines is beyond me.
He is being told by grade A qualified professional scientists what he should put in his body for the good of those around him.
They are not forcing him or saying he has to but just saying as people who have more knowledge on the subject than him that it is the best option
"How dare they have their own opinions that don't mirror mine"
Speaking of ignorance:
"The Victorian Health Department and a Tennis Australia expert panel granted exemptions to the trio because the panels believed a prior infection warranted an exemption.
However, the federal government informed Tennis Australia in November it would not allow international arrivals to bypass vaccine requirements on this basis." https://www.smh.com.au/sport/czech-tennis-player-renata-vor-ov-detained-by-australian-border-force-20220107-p59mq2.html
He clarified his comments. He has his MMR, Polio vaccines etc. So I don’t think he’s anti vax. He’s just worried about the effects of this one.
Covid doesn’t care about your money or who you are. If you were in that position, would 1 minute in a vaccination booth cause you that much concern compared to what a bad dose and subsequent long covid would do to your career?
Vaccines aren’t a magic bullet but they are the best tool we have in the arsenal against this thing for now and they work.
'Rules is rules'
Yes an independent country has the right to hold a tennis tournament in the middle of an emergency and make it difficult for some players to play by tying them up in red tape. I'm not ultimately disputing their authority to do that....but is it wise? Its turned into a farce and I stand by my opinion they should've just made it easy for the players to get in.
Australia's zero covid dream is in tatters and Omicron rips through populations with or without this magic vaccine. Apart from 'We make the rules' bluster what has been gained here? Nothing that I can see. They've succeeding in showing a Serbian tennis player 'who is in charge'. Yipee, job done.
In April 2020, well before Covid vaccines were available, Djokovic said he was "opposed to vaccination".
Seems pretty clear alright.
Novak didn’t force anything. He jumped through every hoop, including 2 independent Australian medical boards. He was then granted a visa.
But is it wise ?
Well it's more fkin wise than all the conspiracy nonsense I keep hearing about vaccines.
Lol
You said yourself people are not happy about being separated from their relatives, so I'm saying they should drop their support for this state of affairs.
Also I'm saying that people should drop their support for forcibly sending people to camps. So are you pro-detainment camp yourself then? Or you just think its a popular policy.
Selective quoting now 🤣🤣 The full quote is provided a few above and deals with what you claim.
Ah there it is. "My body, my choice to increase the risk of transmission to others."
Unvaccinated are more likely to catch it, more likely to hold the viral load for longer, hence transmit it, and of course they take up more hospital beds and ICU's than vaccinated proportionally.
Game, Set, Match.
How is that his fault? Are all tennis players cc’ed into every communication between governments and the tennis associations??
Ya and then they took it off him because he couldn't prove his medical exemption.
You should watch that Aussie border show. People get turned round all the time after getting a visa. I lived in Canada and despite being granted a visa I still had to sit with a lad and prove loads of stuff I already proved online and answer loads of questions and agree to stuff I already answered.
Their border their choice
you left out his second sentence. A complete error on your part I’m sure.
“But if it becomes compulsory, what will happen? I will have to make a decision.
I'm not happy about the measures, but I understand them. We don't want to wear masks everywhere, or have lockdowns, but the majority of people understand why we have them. Aussies have shown in polls they support these measures. If you have some other opinion, okay.
Another who left out his second sentence. Easily done
Or he could have just stayed home instead of pissing about without a vaccine.
According to you, he has his MMR and Polio vaccines so he's not anti-vax, just curious, what age was he when he got those vaccines?
He has stated that if vaccines were mandatory to play that he'd have a choice to make. That seems to indicate that he isn't completely against them.
However in this case there was an alternative that he used, was granted a visa on that basis and the rules were then changed on him when it was too late for him to do anything.
Djokovic: "I'm opposed to vaccinations"
Fandymo: "Well, lads, I'm not convinced, I don't think he's anti-vax"
Have you lost your fcuking mind?
It seems that, in many cases, the more one is educated the less critical thinking one is capable of and the more brainwashed one can become. Some of the most stupid people I know have been the most educated.
For example, compare a group of PhDs and a group of tradesmen. The PhDs are the ones most likely to be going along with the narrative and swallowing everything they're being told. It's the tradesmen who sense that something fishy is going on and question things more. The PhDs might have more education but the tradesmen tend to have more common sense.
The Aussies booting out the other players who had also been granted exemptions and visas, after some of them had already been let into Australia, some of them actually already playing in tournaments already! is simply an after-the-fact "clean-up" exercise to present some illusion of retrospective consistency and signals the fact that the appeals hearing that will take place on Monday is a mere formality.
Djokovic is going to be nowhere an Australian Open tennis court by the time the opening round kicks off.
The Australian officials on all levels come out of this looking like muppets.

To be honest the whole Australian/Victorian governments thing doesn’t matter. If he can’t fill in a few forms before going to Australia that’s on him, and at this stage of the game he should have had the vaccine long ago. No sympathy, he can’t have it his way all the time.
But he did fill the forms, and got his visa.
Currently you can get into Australia without been vaccinated. Djokovic followed that route, was granted the visa and then had the rules changed on him. If Australia want vaccination to be mandatory for getting into the country then they should have done that.
This is complete nonsense. The kind of talk thick people console themselves with because they couldn’t get a degree, or weren’t cut out for higher education.
What you're forgetting is the majority of the guy's peers don't believe the bullshit he does and rely on the guidance of professionals. His opinion doesn't invalidate the views of the majority of his peers who rely on these scientific and medical experts, many of whom sit behind a desk. He's A grade peak performance in spite of the pseudoscience, not because of it.
The rules were not changed on him.
Himself/his team had months to make sure he could gain entry, they clearly didn't ensure all ok.
On Wednesday, Australian Border Force (ABF) officials said the 34-year-old player had "failed to provide appropriate evidence" at Melbourne Airport.
Tough. He isn't a "prisoner" despite the claims from his team...he can leave anytime he wants.
