Thank you very much for this. I had been contemplating enrolling my kids in an ET school when we move back to Ireland. But I was worried that something like this muck might be foisted upon them there. Now I know.
The children in my family go to educate together schools and they are great schools. Never heard anything about white privilege ever.
. Why would you believe that poster over all the posters that replied to your thread about educate together schools in the education forum?
Because it’s on the Educate Together website perhaps?
It's a part of their anti racism program. What is wrong with anti racism?
Haha for **** sake. Here you have a clear example of the insidious nature of this whole ultra-progressive ideology, and how easy it is to hoodwink people into it. I mean, how could you be opposed to anti-racism!
We should absolutely not be importing American ultra-progressive shite such as 'intersectionality' into our schools, and country more generally.
This kind of anti racism that assumes that only the whites are racist is actually racism.
"If you are a white, settled, Irish person living in Ireland, you experience privilege" - this is racism.
I feel privileged to live in Ireland, as a whole it's a good, fair country, extremely low levels of corruption, people live a reasonable standard of living. Compared to some countries, this is heaven. Do you not feel privileged?
Indeed and furthermore, in my case specifically it risks dividing my children from me, as their mother is from SE Asia. This is the ideology of collective guilt, where individuals are identified and deemed unclean or tainted, or not to be trusted, by dint of being part of some group or other. Lenin would be proud. Needless to say, this type of ideological demonology is one of the more bitter fruits of diversity.
" anti racist " is just the new marketing label for anti fascist which was a movement in the thirties and was more or less communist, communism isn't easy to sell but the theories surrounding the whole " anti racist " doctrine are pure Marxist in nature.
Opposing racism is admirable, identifying as " anti racist " is a different thing
Ireland's too dumbed down for smart Asians. We have people who designed the Luas. They have people who designed the Tokyo underground.
Indeed blacks living in Ireland are privileged compared to blacks living in Nigeria. In other words, black privilege, right?
Well they are privileged to live here rather than some other countries, yes.
Boo hoo. Not the first rant you had at me, of course, since your go at me for saying learning Irish was actually a good thing for me and that your kids might benefit.
So there's no such thing as white or black privilege, and linking privilege to one's skin colour is racist?
Also, go tell them that, see how well it goes down when a white person tells them they're privileged to live in a mostly white country.
I've taught at 7 Chinese universities, and at one S.Korean university... and you're vastly over inflating their average level of intelligence. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly love Asians and their cultures, but, there's a crapton of extremely stupid ones (especially since mental illness isn't recognised in many Asian countries, nor are learning impairments). As for the Japanese, these are a people who engage in all manner of extremely dangerous and idiotic events such as mass riding a tree trunk down a steep hill.
Btw, most Asians I've met love Ireland and would jump at the chance to live here.
I don't believe in white or black privilege. Some people, regardless of skin colour are privileged. We in Ireland are privileged to live in this country.
I don't see that as a bad thing to acknowledge.
tell who?
So do you support the educate together 'anti-racism' initiative then or not? Because it is explicitly about White privilege.
Its not explicitly about that, it is one part. I'd not see anything wrong with saying we are privileged in this country, because we are
Do you support this initiative or not?
You're dodging, bubbly.
really ?
the definition…
privlidged :
having special rights, advantages, or immunities…
I don’t fûckin think so…
And ireland is like this because of the'drumroll' Irish
Plus ça change?
Similar family mix to yours. The kids will be let nowhere near this identity politics BS. The wife fron SE asia is very more militant than myself against it. She has experienced some rascism in Ireland but is never from Irish people(or Europeans).
So migrants would have to conform to a set of guidelines voted on by the those who live in Ireland?ha ha,what planet are you living on?
Would there be guidelines on everything?where they can live, worship, how many children they can have, would people from all countries be subject to the conditions? from the UK,USA,EU countries as well as non EU countries.
Would we lock up those poles, latvians, asians, africans, english, scottish, welsh, germans if they did not integrate to the satisfaction of the integration police who would have to gather the evidence so that we could prosecute and presumably deport those who failed the integration rules.
George Orwell stuff only fit for the birds so good luck with it,in the meantime i will be urging lawmakers to strengthen our laws where racism or incitement to hate is concerned so that we can rid the streets of the cowardly scumbags who insult or injure people who make their homes in Ireland.
You literally said in 2 posts above why would he believe another poster about white privilege being mentioned in educate together schools and then the audacity to not acknowledge you were wrong when they pointed it out and change the subject and attack said poster as if he said something was wrong with being against racism. After that, i have no idea why anybody would engage in discussion with yo. Have the decency to admit when you were wrong.
But the ET material doesn't talk about privilege in the sense of living in Ireland. It talks about White privilege. Your post only makes any sense if you instinctively believe White and Irish are interchangeable terms.
As for "White privilege" as a concept, its just a malicious reference to White people living in a community or nation built by their forefathers for their descendants which conforms to their cultural norms. It is no different to Africans or Asians living in communities/nations built by their forefathers for their descendants and which conform to their norms. All other things being equal, of course people are going to be more successful in communities which conform to their norms than in communities which do not. But only in the case of "White privilege" is this reality an accusation.
What is multiculturalism exactly?
I work and live in a place that has people from all over the world. Don’t think I’ve seen anything cultural at all.
I've heard good things about educate together, I wouldn't totally rule it out, may depend on the individual school.
That poster from them in the quote above is incredible though, I've read it about 10 times and still can't understand it, or what they are trying to say.
Looks like they are pushing this American crap though under the guise of progressivism.
