Linda McCartney's Sausage Rolls
Mitch Hedberg: "Rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something."
..... downhill 😜
Linda McCartney's Sausage Rolls downhill. On the plus side it won't meat anything on the way 😉
Lidl skin on fries far nicer than the Aldi ones. 13 minutes in the airfryer.
I picked up a bottle of the Maison Duhard Malbec for €6 during French week (rrp €8) to try. It's from south west France - Comte Tolosan region.
It's very drinkable, has that 'winter warmer' quality to it even though it's only 12.5%.
Discount vouchers not working in lidl today. They say its nationwide
Eh I just got an alert on the LIDL App saying TESING
Edit- Oops wrong thread, but can't delete.
yes I but this regularly at the normal price, quite a decent wine and esp at that price! I picked up a few
Anyone else annoyed by them changing their Peach and Apple Loops. Wife loves them but they're not quite as sour as they used to and texture is a little different. No where near as nice.
They have Saucisson in stock at the moment and it's very nice indeed!
I was looking at them the other day and pondering a cassoulet, will definitely pick them up.
Is that the one with the walnuts in it that they do?
I'm not a huge fan of cold charcuterie, but the idea of putting it to use in a cassoulet is a great idea!
These aren't charcuterie, they're smoked Toulouse-style sausage, so need to be cooked.
I got the last pack in my Lidl earlier, so very much looking forward to a cassoulet this weekend!
Tried a katsu curry sauce from Lidl last week, it was near the regular curry sauces but looked like a one off special. To be fair it's marked as katsu stir fry so it was much thinner than a normal katsu curry sauce, but it also tasted nothing like one. It was sort of fruity, and tasted closer to a Balti - a bit odd with breaded chicken! It was fine but won't be repurchasing, the jars with spices on top are much nicer.
A "DO NOT" recommend rather than a recommend:
The deluxe cod bake (tomato & edam cheese). Poor quality fish, lots of very large bones and the edam & tomato sauce ended up way too runny & insipid.
Haven't actually tried it yet but you'd need a microscope to find the four pieces of fig on the Fig & Cheese pizza.
These Waterford Blaas in LIDL are a great for weekend fry's, burgers, and sandwiches. Highly recommend!
Indeed, I love a good blaa. They need to be taken up on their "Unique to County Waterford", claim, though. It is false and there is no way that that bakery doesn't know that this is a completely false claim!
Did Blaas not get regional protected status (or whatever it's called) some time in the last few years?
(I've never seen them in Lidl, so don't know if they're actually made in Waterford, maybe that's what you're getting at?)
Anyway, they look lovely, so must give them a go next time I'm shopping there!
ETA - I knew I'd seen it somewhere!
They did get PGI in 2013. Thing is, one of the four bakeries that is certified is in Kilkenny - as Walshe's well know. It's cynical, sharp practice.
While it may be true that blaas are most often associated with Waterford but they are not unique to Waterford
They're made in Waterford by Walsh's Bakery for LIDL
Ah we all know the Kilmacow bakery is essentially Waterford 😉
What is the best pizza in lidl and why? Lean towards the fridge ones myself but curious to know if there's a frozen one I'm missing out on. Tried a few and underwhelmed
Lidl Deluxe Carmelized Onion and Goats Cheese pizza is the best I've tried.
Contadina (frozen) is nice - vegetarian w goat's cheese. Black box, green lettering. There are two others in the range, the 'meat' one is gank, imo.
Not your ornery onager
Interesting. Need me a goats cheese pizza it seems!
I like the fridge sourdough pizza with the nduja, possible my favouite supermarket pizza. Nicer than plenty of poor takeaway pizzas too.
Found this wine in my local Lidl recently - not sure if it's a Christmas special or regular stock (there was only one left on the "fancier wines" shelf).
For a tenner, it's a very very nice red indeed.
I found more today in a different shop, and have stocked up!
I usually get their pesto and chorizo, cheap and tasty and lob it into a bolognese (some Italian is cursing me)
Carve that niche in society for yourself..
