BordBia Farm Audit - Help Required!

Hi All,

I need some advice, we had a BordBia Farm Audit last year, and we have a few non-compliance issues to be addressed.

No real significate non-compliance issues (in my opinion anyway!). We had two remedies/medicine purchases that were not detailed in the purchase records. One medication was not detailed but was only used to treat a bullock with pink eye with a zero-day withdrawal period.

Any advice or guidance is appreciated.

If you have failed the audit, you can appeal. Put it down to an administrative error and update records.

If you have passed the audit then just update the records and learn that lesson for next audit.

As an aside, I know some use herd watch and similar apps for their bord bia. You pay an annual subscription. I do it all my self which is time consuming. Why do bord bia not have an online system for bord Bia audits to make things simpler. Rant over.

What were the other "non compliance issues"? Do you know of any neighbours or friends that were audited by this particular inspector?

I do too.

I got Herdwatch a year and half ago and found it very good tbh. The book was fine too and never had an issue at inspection time, but it’s being able to do it there and then.

Four Animal medicines were not transferred into the BordBIA inspection records. We had them listed in a spreadsheet but had just not transferred into the paper book. Two had never been opened or used.

That's not a rant - I'm not in bord bia - and amazed that a spreadsheet entry is not sufficient.

The two medicines that were not used, they need to have a purchase record, so either a receipt or a statement from where you purchased. They do not need to be copied into the bord bia farm book remedy purchase records if you have proof of purchase.

As for the two you used, they need to have both a purchase record (receipt or entered into bord bia farm book) and a usage record for the amount of medicine that was used out of the bottle.

All vaccines must be recorded.

All medicines with 0 withdrawals must be recorded.

Only exception (I think is herbal remedies and vitamins/minerals).

You can use a spreadsheet if you like, but it must contain enough detail, mainly the same headings in the bord bia farm book remedy usage and remedy purchase section.

if you have a spreadsheet then forget the boardbia sheets. You are double recording with no advantage. Make sure the heading on the spread sheet match is all.
